I always thought that coolness was judged by what other people think of your car, not whether you actually like it or not. I love the Civic Type R, but it certainly doesn't make a difference to how I'd look when driving it around.

Well, there's 2 measures of cool.

One is the fact that coolness is linked to your opinion of that thing.

The other is how you think others perceive that thing (Because you'd need a focus group to find out what people really think)

Both are right, but people use one or the other.

SU for already stated reasons.

A Aston supermini probably wouldn't be a bad idea if they used a different base. Toyota did have a small car from another brand that might have fit better in Aston's design language.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was the first car to make it to Hell. This car is definitely SU, no questions asked. Who thought this was a good idea?

It was NEVER a good idea. It was a bad one that was forced unto Aston Martin. And thank goodness it didn't catch on.
 
People will think you modified your little econobox and put Aston Martin badges all over it.

The difference is, the Cayenne was, and still is, exponentially more successful.

Not entirely sure how the "execution" can be improved there.
 
I love it, but after I ssaw the info about it, I discovered why people hate it. That made me like it less. SU.

Yeah it's the same with the Cayenne. Bad idea, but Porsche has to expand their lineup in order for them to sell cars, make profit and stay alive. I still think most people loathe the Cayenne, but you have to give some credit to the car. It's one of the cars that keeps Porsche afloat. I know of some celebrities who own Cayennes, and while it may be hideous-looking, it seems like a pretty good car.

So yeah, Cygnet and Cayenne are quite similar, but the big difference is that the Cayenne caught on, and the Cygnet didn't. I agree, the execution on the Cygnet could have been way, way, way better. But I seriously think that Aston Martin didn't put quite a lot of effort in it because it just simply "isn't their thing", y'know?

He was referring to the execution on the Cygnet. Which I agree, it could have a whole lot better.

For the record, I personally find it cool as it's just such an unmitigated disaster. Doomed from the start, overpriced, built for a purpose that was no longer necessary and awkward looking. Very rare and pointless as a result. If I was a millionaire I'd rock one for sure.

But the average person, it is exactly as it appears; a Toyota iQ (a car I loathe) with an Aston grille. Seriously uncool.

P.S. I should point out that there were more Virages sold (another Aston failure, though for completely different reasons) in Britain in its one year of production than there are Cygnets globally. That alone says it all.
 
Seriously uncool and an embarrassment for Aston Martin.
 
How many of these were actually sold worldwide? I can't imagine it will be higher than a thousand.
