2015+ BMW X6M (F16)

It's probably one of the quickest vehicles in it's class, but that's it.

I'm voting seriously uncool. I mean, just look at it! I thought the previous X6 was ugly, but this one looks worse. Also, there's still that "BMW driver" type stigma of the drivers being know to be jerkish on the road. Lastly, pardon my ignorance in advance, but this thing is just plain redundant in my eyes. I just don't see who in the world would buy this over another model in BMW's lineup.
 
This would be the perfect vehicle for those people who think that only horsepower make a car go fast.

You think this is pointless, i saw a vanilla, base-model X6 this morning. Dull colour, tiny base-spec wheels with plumpish tyres, no sporty body kit, etc, etc. What's the point in a X6 that doesn't even look remotely sporty?

Whilst true, you can't deny to the Average Public the SUV is more desirable more expensive version of what those can do.

That's rather sad. Mine would be a 35d with those 20" snowflake spoked alloys. Don't think I'd spring for a body kit, though...

Desirable in the sense, perhaps, that a Birkin bag is desirable. In that it's a fashion statement slash status symbol.

To be fair, the X6M is not a case of simply massive power and massive size. It actually handles rather niftily for such a tall vehicle, and as a back-roads companion, it certainly outdoes any Corolla ever... even the hotted up ones... but that doesn't stop it from being a truck that's mainly purchased as a massive middle finger to the middle class.

I still think that this

And as for X6M. it tries to be a coupe, a limousine, SUV and sports car and it fails in every category.

Modified, perhaps... maaaaybe... but the bone-standard ones don't have nearly enough grip or horsepower to keep up with an X6M on anything wider than a bike trail.

I've both driven in and followed behind a well-driven X6 on the racetrack. Those things can boogie. The X6M supposedly does the 'Ring in in the same time as the M3... a meaningless statistic, mostly, given the ludicrous amount of power on tap... but a more telling statistic is that it monsters the new MX-5 on MotorTrend's Figure-8, which mixes acceleration, braking, lateral grip and left-right transitions... and that's a car that's nearly as light as an AE86, with a more sophisticated suspension and much more power and grip.

Best you can hope for is the X6's brakes fade before you get to the bottom (those things do tend to overheat brakes on the racetrack). But that's only likely if the run is longer than fifteen minutes or so, or if you're doing multiple runs.

No doubt the X6M would stomp the AE86, but that doesn't necessarily mean a 5200lbs. crossover with effortless acceleration, effortless traction, and effortless gearchanges would be a preferable back roads companion. But I'm a "driving a slow car fast > driving a fast car slow" guy. Even a beige '00s Corolla with a 5-speed would be preferable.
