I've just noticed that the front foglights make the main air dam look like it's petrified of the rest of the car

Just a Question here, if soo many people are buying an SUV these days how can they possibly be Seriously uncool.

If they where a full minority it would make sense.

The fact is SUVs are only seriously uncool to people that fit the demographic of a forum like GT Planet.

I don't like this car because it looses Practicality without style imo.

However i don't think I can say this is Seriously Uncool, infact i don't know what it falls under.

The fact that so many people are buying SUVs is what MAKES this one SU in particular. It is, in the grand scheme of things, a pointless display of opulence that only becomes more redundant when you take into account the fact that the general public wouldn't think it was any different from any other SUV, other than maybe the fact that it's a BMW and that BMWs are generally slightly faster and more expensive than other cars. If you pick up your date in this, they're not going to think 'this is someone with a stylish and fast car', they're going to think 'why am I being picked up in something designed for the school run?' (or even worse they might actually KNOW what this car is, and then they'll think even less of you)

Im sorry but what?

I don't think there would be a single female out there thinking like that, considering these are most popular with them.

The worst car ever built. Serves no purpose whatsoever and is hideous. Seriously Uncool.

There is probably not a more pointless car on sale today than this one, and quite possibly not one as uncool on sale today either.

I don't know if you are asking anyone in particular or if this is in general, but as far as I'm concerned, SUVs are not automatically seriously uncool. It's just this particular one that is seriously uncool (given that BMW calls it a SAC instead is a whole another matter).

It could be just where I live, but I don't think it's quite as pointless as some people here say it is. I can certainly see a reason why someone would buy one over the current M5, even excluding the most obvious one which is wanting a car that gives other people a better idea how much more money you make.

The current weather here is certainly one. I wouldn't even think of driving a new RWD M-car in slightly worse snow conditions. Hell a low RWD super saloon like the M5 probably would have gotten stuck in the snow on my home street which, no thanks to the town's snow clearing service, was terrible this morning. The X6M at least has the 4WD and some ground clerance on its side for that sort of a thing.

Not that any of this makes it more cool, as it's still a modern BMW M-car, mostly bought by, and probably specificially made for people who want it for the first mentioned reason.

My Ford Focus could easily outperform this thing offroad.

If I had to choose a SUV I would pick Range Rover or even underrated X5

Your Focus wouldn't it lacks ground clearance and likely AWD, And the X5 is equal with this for off road as they are both on the same platform.

Still this thing sucks. I know SUVs that are more elegant and have higher ground clearance. Damn, even though it's low RS6 is more likely to survive those conditions because it's lighter and more powerful.

Simple. If I could pick offroader there are G Class and Defender, if I could pick 4 door coupe there are A7 and CLS. If I could pick suv I already told my opinion. Obviously 2nd group would struggle in those conditions but that doesn't make them worse.

This would struggle on snow higher than 50 cm, and it doesn't have elegance and space like many other SUVs. It's just that this car fails in being anyhing it tried. It's a sum of everything wrong with car industry today.

I don't care about it's performance if it's ugly and pointless. And less practical. I would rather drive a Ssangyong. At least it's better than that GLC thing.

 Being more powerful is the reason why you'd choose this and the RS6 is not that much lighter. Not to mention the fact that you'd likely have a hard time finding proper tyres for the Audi due to its massive rims with very low profile tyres.

Well, have fun making the extra money for getting two cars instead of one. The X6M gives the buyer the chance to get most of the power and speed of a super saloon and most of the soft-roadability of a crossover SUV. Of course whether there are very many people wanting that is a different thing entirely.

Ford Focus;

Not much ground clearance
Not AWD

Explain how it would outperform a 4WD SUV offroad?
If we're talking about climbing over rocks, going through deep mud, and fording rivers, the SUV would win. But on a gravel rally stage my money is on the Focus.

Unless the X6M was on winter tyres, it would be barely any better on snow and ice than a FWD hatchback. Have you seen how wide those tyres are? They're 285/35's. Trying to get down an incline in this on snow and ice would be terrifying, it would be like being a passenger in a two and a half ton bowling ball.

Crossover SUV + Coupe + Performance Pack = This.

Not sure what this car even wants to be. 👎

Aside from the ultra-wide tires, there's a lack of ground clearance or articulation. Basically, the X6M is a crossover, not a true SUV.

A lot of people also bought minivans. And Corollas. Neither of which anyone actually classifies as cool.

And Trucks. And diesel powered 4-door family saloons. And hatchback-based convertibles. etc.

Well, I can't speak for other countries but here if it doesn't have snow tyres it'd be illegal to drive it in snow conditions at all.

Those are some mighty sensible regulations you have up there in Finlandland. I think the rest of the world is a little behind. But that's mostly due to us having far fewer 'snow days' to make legislation unlikely.

The X6M weighs much closer to three tons than two, has maybe 6 inches of room below the front bumper, and comes with tires that look like this:

It would get stuck in a wet soccer field.

Remember that BMW is even cheeky enough to refuse to call their SUVs by that term -- according to BMW, they're "SAVs", sport activity vehicles. The distinction is particularly relevant here.

So tell me is there any car of this kind that is actually decent? Answer is NOPE. This kind of crossover is simply doomed to fail. Unless Italian or British desings it and German or Japanese man does the other stuff.

UGH I hate this thing very very much. I need to stop ranting, it's ruining me.
