2: After qualifying there will be a 2-3 Lap Qualifying Race.
* Qualifying Race will have a grid start

Racing:

Pace Lap: 1 lap will be added to the race distance for a formation pace lap. After qualifying drivers will be called one by one to exit the pit in the order they finished. The first driver will stop 100m after they exit the pit and everyone will line up behind them in order. DO NOT pass the driver in front of you. After everyone is out of the Pits the Race will be started.

Drivers will line up in a single File. A minimum of 3 car lengths must be between cars. You are not allowed to pass the the bumper of the car in front of you.

The Formation Lap speed limit is 100 kph / 60 mph
*Stay in your qualifying order
*Do not hit other cars or exceed the speed limit

Rolling Start: When pole driver turns onto the pit straight the race will go green flag once 100m from start/finish line. ((This point will be clarified before each race.)) No Passing is allowed until crossing the start finished line. Drivers will be penalized for false starts and illegal passing.

Rules:

No ramming or bashing of other cars is allowed. All Drivers are expected to to read and follow GTP's Online Racing Rules

Cutting chicanes & corners is not allowed. 2 Wheels must remain on the track.

Overtaking: clean overtaking is the responsibility of everyone on track. Any racing incidents that happen as a result of poor overtaking, the overtaker may be held responsible and penalized. * If the defender is found braking excessively early to defend or to cause an incident they will be penalized.

**You are NOT allowed to overtake if order to make the pass its necessary to have wheels off the track in the grass or outside the white line boundaries.
EXAMPLE: At La Sarthe in the run from Muslanne to Indianapolis, if you have to cut across the grass in order to get by a driver while racing for position then you should not be overtaking. Or at Daytona trying to go two wide on between the turn 1 exit and turn 2.
This will be considered an illegal overtake & reckless driving which will be penalized

Track Position: If you gain a position by cutting a corner or pushing another driver off the track you must immediately allow that other person to pass you and give back that position back.

Blocking: Drivers are allowed one change of direction on a straight to defend. Its not considered a block if a car stays on its racing line while in a turn

Lapped Drivers: Back markers must yield faster traffic at the first safest opportunity. Lapped do not have to pull off the track to allow lead drivers by. Always allow faster lead cars to pass freely on straights.
Lead Drivers are not allowed to ram, push, or spin back markers off the track to get by - overtaking rules are still in effect.

Bump Drafting: NASCAR style bump drafting is not allowed. (really - do i have to mention this .......:boggled: )

Pit Lane: You must you the proper pit lane entry & exit section of the track. You must also slow down before entering the pit lane. (tracks like laguna you cannot enter the pits @ race speed) Drivers are not allowed to cross pit exit line when re-entering the track.

Race Incident reporting: To report a race incident (or a suspected incident) after the race send me a PM with info on what happened and what lap in happened on. If you dont give me a lap, I'm not watching the replay.

Driver reputation system:
Each driver is going to start the season with 20 points next to their name.
You will lose points for causing race incidents / accidents and poor driving.
This system should help distinguish the clean drivers / from the not so clean drivers.
Any driver who receives multiple complaints from other drivers or is given a warning or a penalty will lose rep points.

Examples
* Knocking another driver off the track and causing them to lose their position -2 pts
* Knocking a driver off the track and causing them damage - forcing them to lose more than 1 position - 4 pts
* Getting caught cutting corners - 2 pts
* Cutting a corner to gain a position - 2 pts
* Passing on the rolling start before the start line - 2 pts
* Any other rule breaking & insistences not mentioned - 1 to 4 pts
Penalties:

Team Orders: If you hear "Alonso is faster than U" .... Then tell your race engineer to stfu and if Alonso wants to get by he can pass you like everyone else

The Championship:

Driver's Championship Points System

1st - 30 points

The time for this is fine. The qualifying race is a bit silly. Why not do a standard F1 quali session like IRL.....But I dont care all that much whatever.

You use that sentence a lot, don't you?

I don't think the real qualifying system works too well. If you go off the track and re-enter your time is reset. Besides, the short races are quite fun too :)

I agree. It's much better to have standard qualifying session before the race.

I might express some interest for today's race. (Probably not, because I'm not good on the Daytona Road Course)

Peter.

Agree Peter.

Hope us 2nd and the 3rd timers get in the room with all the interest going on.

If I took pole in the qualifying, then went into the qualifying race and got whacked into turn 1, which is very likely, especially here. Then i'll be starting in last in the race, when i'd have been win worthy, all thanks to getting hit by someone. It just won't really work effectively.

If your " win worthy" you will have an entire hour to prove yourself and work your way to the front, don't worry.

The qualifying race makes sense for Daytona. Why? Because of the real life Gatorade Duels

no one has said anything about qualifying until today.

I'm a bit worried we that everyone will show up today, and we will have 1 or 2 many for a room

Ill be there in a Speed 8 if there is room. I like the sprint race to determine your starting spot.

Speaking of the Speed 8. That car is ridiculous. It's, in real life and in GT5, more or less the same car as the Audi R8 '01. Last night when practicing, someone had a Speed 8 and was in a whole different galaxy from us, dishing out fast lap after fast lap, these are 1:29.1 after the other.

Anyway, would anyone like to practice?

I'd just like to say that regarding the qualifying race, its one of the best things in the series. If not the best. Not due to excitement but due to fixing a problem. When me and Rich S were doing the F1 series, I qualied in a lap time which should of put me 6th according to the driver standings on the right of the screen. Then where did I start? 9th. The quali system for lap times in GT5 is useless because it looks up where you are on track, so if someone goes out at the start of quali, they remain first sometimes, other times it gets judged by lap times but the judging is random so it becomes a highly unfair system for quali. That's why the race is so much better.

Side note. Are we going to run a fake pace lap where one guy drivers the GTR pace car for photo shoot purposes? Then run the actually pace lap and then race at the end of it.

bermudakid, you've reached the max allowed amount of friends. I can't join the lobby because of it. Care to delete a friend and add me please?

Peter.

Same with me as well. I thought the lobby was public though?

So, I guess you started without me since it said I couldn't join and should wait for a minute (which usually means the race just has started!). Just spent 1 hour in the room just to not get in the race... that's great.. simply great.

Got one chance to enter, during the second one I guess someone pressed start (which kicks you?), because I could still hear the guys talking in mics - and when I tried again I couldn't enter :grumpy:

Sorry I left the race. I crashed into Razor after cutting it a tiny bit too fine. Then it all went badly after that. The car did behave as expected without a slipstream however. What I mean by that is that without a slipstream its dreadful because it massively lacks mid-high range acceleration. I just dropped further and further back because if I'm up against a good mid-high accelreation car, I can stick to them through low-mid speed corners and the turbulance causes lack of grip in high speed corners. Then I start to fall back without the slipstream. Very annoying. After my pit stop the race got really confusing with everyone lapping me. I had no idea where tissimo was so I changed the race objective to become a practice session. Worked very badly. Major crash with Johny and then I had no other information to be gained. Oh yeah, I also needed to go piss so that was a factor. So in he end there was no info for be to gain so I just left. Sorry. Next time I will avoid Razor and stick up with the midfield

So. Qualifying race where I get railroaded to 11th starting position for the real race grid. That is bad enough as I started 5th and gave everyone room, the get jacked from behind. Nice.

That's just qualifying.

So I start 11th or something way far back, then......half the field drops from the race? Why even show? Why screw up the qualifying race? It would give racers like myself a better shot, who stick it out to the end, fighting up front from the start. Instead I was fighting my way TO the front.

Glad it's pre season.

Mav won but I must say for a lot of the race was being harressed by Blaze and Johny.

As for my race I qualified decent in 4th but at turn 2 AS came flying in to the side of me which made me lose the 3 leaders straight away. He later apologized though and did let me back past so it was fair enough :).

But it kind of set the tone for the rest of my race. I got drawn in to that massive battle for 4th with me, AS, Peter, MU and Jake all battling. Then I spun off and lost a lot of time. Just before that though AS had quit after he had crashed too then Peter spun, closely followed by MU who had a collision with Jake. So then I thought my luck was turning but I then overshot the pits and then to top it off had an awful stop when I got there. Then I came out miles behind and had several other spins and struggled with the car and after another horrifying pit stop I decided to quit (as most of the field had done already).

So yeh overall just one of those days and it looked the same way for most others swell. Except for Mav ofcourse who kept cool and won easily in the end.

Could not join because Bermuda had too many friends. I would have liked to partake in the race, I logged on and clicked on golfer's name but it wouldnt bring up the room icon because I'm not one of Bermuda's friends.

I guess I cant race. Oh well. I'm out.
