So what sort of lap times are people doing? I think Jamman's doing 1:31/32s. Johny and I are doing 1:32s from our testing yesterday. I think tiss said he was doing 1:33s.

I'm very rarely doing 1:31's. And when I do let's say I push the limits of where I can go on the chicanes to the max lol. My realistic race pace is 1:32's. I'm losing quite a lot through the two Lesmo's. Need to try and find a later braking point a feel :)

High 1:32s-1:33s is the 787s pace... Trying to figure out tire wear. Rears are DEAD and fronts have 2/3rds left... :odd:

BK, how many laps? Assuming around 38-39 laps (similar to daytona)?

Yea around 38 laps,

hey mike can you host this weeks race. I forgot am moving and I can't play this weekend.

But the bright side is I am getting new internet around 40 mbps, nearly 3 times what I have now!

Running a series isn't really hard, I just can't get people to show up on race days...........

Nah I was joking BK. You do a good job of running this series. Good luck with your move :)

Has anyone tried any full rain laps yet? I'm in the 1:52 - 1:54's depending on the first and second chicane (mostly) lol.

You should check out my race series before you complain about attendance. We have an incredible 20+ sign ups due to how original the series idea was. However we have 6 regulars and one pulled out. So we know have 5 regulars. out of 20, we have 5. Most of the sign ups havn't even acepted my FR and don't post in the thread so yeah, I'm alot worse off

Now LMP gets ever more interesting. Porsche vs. Audi vs. Peugeot vs. Aston Martin, that is, if they sort themselves out.

I believe we had 20+ too at the beginning.

Aston Martin ... they'd better start developing their cars, 4 laps is usually not enough if you want to win the Le Mans :D

I'll be practicing tonight, will anyone be on around 7pm tonight? I've been off of the PS3 for over a month because of exams, so I need to get used to GT5 again.

I'm not interested in practising heavy rain. Because chances are that it won't be heavy rain, even if it starts raining during the race :)

I have yet to practice, but tomorrow may be my big practice day. Unfortunately, my portforwarding didn't help anything, so I will continue to practice solo :(

well, I haven't done any laps on GT5 since sunday and those were in an X2010. Oh no sorry my mistake, on tuesday I did 20 laps of Toscana in a RSC Rally Raid Concept and and few group B cars. I couldn't be better prepared. Although I have done loads of runs of the Monte Carlo Rally in DiRT3. What a track. What a game

Now that you mentioned DiRT 3... I'm a bit disappointed about it. It feels like a new and smaller version of DiRT 2, which had more events (yes, some of them in the rubbish buggies and trucks, but it still counts as events). They took out the rubbish cars and added .. well, Gymkhana.. which is more rubbish. The should have added more tracks, more, more, more tracks.. then it could have maybe kept me interested for more than 3 days. Online could have been good, but it doesn't work as well as it could, and it's more random whether you have a chance of winning, unless you only race point-to-points where you can't collide with the other drivers.
--

Now to GT5 again..
--

3 practice laps at Monza.. a 34 lap was my best, but it's definately going to improve by 1 or 2 secs.

A bit happy that I'm missing Seca and not La Sarthe, that would have been catastrophic. La Sarthe is my favorite track (by far), wish we had a Spa track, the only track that's better than La Sarten IMO.

soo.... penalty to me for driving like a noob last race, i should have yielded to jam once he caught up to me but i didnt ( sorry, good thing that didnt stop you from winning) ................. dont really know what i was thinking.

If you want a rep penalty just put it in the sheet with '-2 in the rep column and I'll add it sometime. Also, a rep penalty for not updating the first couple of posts, lol :D

EDIT: I also updated the standings, so now everyone have the right amount of points. I noticed CJ was 11 points short, so thought I'd make it easy for myself at the same time. But I'm warning you: DON'T LOOK AT THE SHEET CALLED 'POINTS'. It's a mess and very colorful, but its only purpose is providing data for the standings sheet and it has to be as easy for me as possible to see who is who, so that I give the correct points :)

This is interesting because I think that DiRT3 is the best racing game I have ever played. The noise is mnd blowing. The force feedback is joyous and the cars are brilliant.

And that part about random winning? You guys have seen me in the RX RallyCross discipline online. Simply unstoppable. Woo I managed to use a song name in normal speech!! But I am brilliant in rallycross. My carbon fibre Evo X is amazing

Don't remimber you beating me, but ok, we haven't raced that much :)

It's more like a demolition derby race to get 1st then defend it at all costs.

And releasing DLC shortly after the game has been released is pis'n me off, tbh... especially when there's so little content in the original game.

Btw can I ask if we can start at 1:30 - 2:00 tomorrow instead of 1:00. BK isn't there so won't be in a rush to get to work. Up to you Mike :)

I can't actually remember that properly. So much been through my mind since last Saturday :boggled: Can't remember you doing anything bad. If it was when you came out the pits you had decent pace on fresh rubber so that wasn't a problem :)

I don't actually have any problem with racing backmarkers. If they ruined my race by running in to me I'd be slightly annoyed but if we have a good battle I don't mind :)

I rarely play DiRT 3 now I must admit. And I defenatly wouldn't call it the best racing game ever built. It's good but it gets tiresome. GT5 is currently mine for obvious reasons. Although F1 2011 will probably change that for me. And we can't forget Forza 4 :)

EDIT: Sorry for double post

F1 2011... released in September, right? A long time, but I am actually considering it this year... although I think they should have made a GRID 2, as GRID was more succesful than any of the DiRT games have been.

Monza should be fun. I remember quite a few ticked off drivers after last year's edition of the race :D

I can assume why. Hopefully we don't have any turn 1 crashes :ouch:

Getting on now, about to create a room.

Yes but GRID was succesful for being a online smash-a-thon with the least realistic physics engine in the world. I mean at donnington in a TVR club car race, I got squeezed in from all sides and the car barrel rolled out of the pack. Oh and the Audi R10 in that game... WTF!!!! 260MPH!!!!! All the other LMP cars are 230mph. and the tracks are significantly wider than reality. Take Le Mans and Jarama. And the cars had too much grip. Stupid.

And the reason I prefer the Codemasters racing game, and I really want to know why, but they feel like you are going fast. GT5 only feels fast when you are in an X2010 going 200mph through a tight street circuit hairpin. Other than that it is just a slow feel the whole time. Codies make the game feel amazingly fast. I have a hunch that in the Codemasters games, the size of EVERYTHING is upscaled in game and then the game shows to you 100mph but its more like 600mph in the game terms. Thus it feels fast. I don't know if that would work. Maybe its just a trick colour scheme that blends colours.

GRID was not as much about luck. I loved that game, but agreed physics were terrible compared to GT5. I had a win % of 46% in more than 4500 online races (oh yes, there was some long nights!!).

To sum it up: (and I have said it all before)

Codemasters: Fun RACING games with half-good physics and a a lot of damage (which is good!). Online is a chaos, it's random and it often encourages people to ram and crash others.

PD: An excellent DRIVING game, with the best PS3 physics and a lot of cars to choose from. The game itself feels rather empty, with the 100%-passive AI and events that makes you able to complete the game with only 2% of the cars in the game and a bad pay-out (atm payout is TOO big though).
Online is too free, not restricted enough, PD should create some more options for pre-determined cars/tyres/limits etc...

Both companies could learn from each other :) Both make good games, but Codies makes the largest profit, I think...

Any chance I could enter as a privateer for this event only, if so I will be driving the Pescarolo C60 Hybride :)

This is gonna be one hell of race. Me, Johny and MU were having some great races and then Me, Blaze, Senna and Johny had a big 10 lap race. Unfirtuantly it was cut short by a big crash between me and Blaze on the run down to turn 1 (intra team battle lol). But being the best car doesn't make victory at all. At every straight everyone bunchs up because of the massive slipstream and then a massive battle normally starts. So the lead driver can't get away unless he has god like speed through the Lesmo's. It's gonna make for fantastic racing as we found out today and it's going to be very hard to win. Theres also going to be a lot of bumping and shoving. Or maybe thats just the new developed rivalry between me and Senna :p

I hope the race will be good and that I won't have connection issues... and then: Don't cut, peeps.
