I hope the race will be good and that I won't have connection issues... and then: Don't cut, peeps.

I agree no corner cutting.

But the problem I've seen is that people always break toooo late into that second chicane and they just bail on the entry and go straight across the green....

i did not practice at all but ill still show up, I ll just start from the back and try to keep up.

This is gonna be one hell of race. Me, Johny and MU were having some great races and then Me, Blaze, Senna and Johny had a big 10 lap race. Unfirtuantly it was cut short by a big crash between me and Blaze on the run down to turn 1 (intra team battle lol). But being the best car doesn't make victory at all. At every straight everyone bunchs up because of the massive slipstream and then a massive battle normally starts. So the lead driver can't get away unless he has god like speed through the Lesmo's. It's gonna make for fantastic racing as we found out today and it's going to be very hard to win. Theres also going to be a lot of bumping and shoving. Or maybe thats just the new developed rivalry between me and Senna :p

:) like a said jam your prost and iam senna simple!! :sly:

oh and btw put me down for your league in f1 2011 homme!

GRID was not as much about luck. I loved that game, but agreed physics were terrible compared to GT5. I had a win % of 46% in more than 4500 online races (oh yes, there was some long nights!!).
--

To sum it up: (and I have said it all before)

Codemasters: Fun RACING games with half-good physics and a a lot of damage (which is good!). Online is a chaos, it's random and it often encourages people to ram and crash others.

PD: An excellent DRIVING game, with the best PS3 physics and a lot of cars to choose from. The game itself feels rather empty, with the 100%-passive AI and events that makes you able to complete the game with only 2% of the cars in the game and a bad pay-out (atm payout is TOO big though).
Online is too free, not restricted enough, PD should create some more options for pre-determined cars/tyres/limits etc...

Both companies could learn from each other :) Both make good games, but Codies makes the largest profit, I think...

I'd like codies and PD to have a truce where they take everything from a codies game, then PD remodel the physics so that the cars feel 100% real. And then use the forcefeedback from codies as well. And the codies rally physics. Basically, a cross up between F1 2010/11, DiRT2/3, GRID, all pulled together with the tarmac physics of Gran Turismo. Oh, and the online intereface would be designed by PD as well to give greater restrictions. I think that would be the worlds best racing game by MILES

Dont forget to add mikethehockeyfan today, he will be hosting the raceso you will need him on your psn list

Ahh trying to prove yourself I see :p. We have a lot of interest for the league (12 people in my current 2010 league plus about another 13 people have contacted me in interest of it) so not everyone will get a spot. But as it's you Senna I'll see what I can do ;)

what about me?

* IMPORTANT *

Looks like I am hosting today, make sure mikethehockeyfan is on your PSN friends' list.

Is everyone okay with moving back the qualy race + race to:

13:30 EST
18:30 GMT

only for this race? If BK can't make this event than we may as well push the start time back so Jammer can make the event.

I thought it might be worth pointing out, its 18:30 BST, which is 19:30 GMT. In winter, GMT and british time is the same, in summer, GMT in one ahead due to british time flipping back an hour

MY RACE REPORT:
This is what I thought of my racing ability today: 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 and a bit too tough on the tyres.

In the first 6 laps I spin more times than the years the worlds oldest man has lived, then I tried something different, softs, which was a mistake that resulted in a 6 minute lap. By lap 15 I was 3 laps down on 9th place and 4 laps down on 6th and above. So I pulled into the pits and left the car there. Not good. But I like laguna seca so I am hopeful of an not so breathtaking but visible comeback

Cheers, I completely forgot about that.

Great racing, I have to say. Provisional results coming. Thanks to all who showed up and were accommodating with the later start time this week.

Sorry that I'm a homme and quit, but I thought it would be in everyone's interest to get some race info instead. Besides, my ankles were hurting, and I was soo far behind :)

Standings updated already, Jamman is the new leader, ahead of mu and tissimo. Only change in team standings was Mike46 overtaking BK.

Wow 2nd! :)

I must say I'd be lieing if I said I wasn't happy with that. In fact I'm thrilled. I knew I wasn't going to catch MU, so with the championship leader Senna out the race I just focused on securing 2nd from Jake and Blaze. Anyway me, MU and Jake all pitted the same lap and I made the worst error in the history of my life. I got sleepy after doing a full stint with my eyes on stalks in the rain, and I half filled the car with fuel. I quickly realized I'd have to make another pit stop. I tried to make the best of it by pitting half way through the stint. Anyway came out in 4th and I quickly caught 3rd placed Blaze. So then I decided that was my maximum but I was the quickest man on the track and somehow caught up to Jake too. Anyway I was right on him through the last lap and coming out of Ascari I got a good run using my superior grip and passed him through a tight gap which he made. All completely fair. I would've understood if he had put me on the grass as it's frustrating losing a position inthe final few corners but it was great :)

So yeah with an improvised 2 stop strategy against everyone else's 1 stop, I managed to salvage 2nd. And that now puts me top I believe going in to the last two rounds.

One more thing.

I saw some amazing 51 laps was set by Blaze and Jake, but since I'm watching the replay I'll keep an eye out for corner cutting. I know I caught Jake cutting on purpose as spectator, lol.

****, 4 points?! The gap is only 4 points!! Jesus, Grand valley could really come back to haunt me . . .

I briefly mentioned this in the race. Here is the famous quote:

I'm not interested in practising heavy rain. Because chances are that it won't be heavy rain, even if it starts raining during the race :)

Whoa Mike... thank you :)

And Jam... you know what, I had a feeling someone would bring it up... lol.

EDIT: Post #1,000

everyone else's 1 stop
Hey!! I did a two stop strategy as well, borderline 3 stop but I never left the pits so it wasn't a stop.

And I can't believe that, one, its not butter, and two, I managed to gain 2 positions over my equally poor qualifiying race. Not bad eh?

Also, in the spreadsheet, it says I didn't finish and clearly, well, kind of clearly, I did finish. I was still on track at the end of the race which qualifies for a finish. I think it should say that I finished 9th, albeit saying +20laps

You didn't finish either, so it doesn't really matter, does it? You stayed in pits most of the race, which I take as a DNF... there's a difference between standing still in the pits and actually trying to complete all of the laps.

Mike, how did you make those results?
