So do I. Gonna put my Minolta to work for the first time and gets some laps done.

Are there any rules regarding tyres that I should know about?

I just tried the Minolta at Daytona and am dismayed at how awesome it is. I'm gonna have to try it online and see if it is as good there.

Remember the physics are different online and offline, if I remember right the Minolta needs a setup to cure understeer so an offline one will be useless. Stupid different physics.👎

I've been in the 1:33's with my GT-One at Daytona. But I havent really practiced much. Mostly driving the Ferrari F1s at the nurburgring nordschleife.

The peugeot 908 when I used it was very quick at Daytona. On stock it got down into 1:24's I think? With the power limiter its a touch slower.

The real world track record is 1:38. Generally the chicanes are very slippery on the back-super-stretch. Jaun Pablo Montoya was running 1:40s most of the way during the 24 hours of Daytona this year.

The thing about GT5 is you go through that chicane in Friggin' 4th or 5th gear at like 140 mph. In real life people were missing it because they couldn't brake on the slippery surface, and were getting stuck in the muddy grass if they even clipped the grass with 2 wheels. ;)

In GT5 they also have giant cement/ nuclear lava blocks that stop you in an instant when you hit them. Its very awkward for a Sony/ PD product that takes so much time for development.

The braking markers if you havent noticed are also made out of the cement/nuclear lava. If you go wide and hit a distance marker you'll be stopped in an instant with the wheels still spinning at whatever speed you were going. Its all very weird and akward.

When I watched Vitaly Petrov go off course in Malaysia I jumped for a second because for an instant I thought the concrete block would stop him dead and kill him.

Then I remembered in real life distance markers arent made of hardened nuclear lava/ reinforced concrete.

1:24's? a touch slower with limiter?? typo? is this with 680 hp

I broke the 1:30 barrier with an untuned Minolta, power limited to 680. I think it'll be pretty easy for me to do a 1:28 without tuning it. A tune could add a second to that. Well see...

We will be racing this week definately. Sony will have the network up this week and there will be a forced update which makes you change your password. Security had been improved and there is a "Welcome back" package which does the following:
-Free selected content which will differ in each area (I hope the GTA4 dlc is free in EU)
-Free 30 days of Playstation plus for all PSN customers
-Free 30 days of Qirocity

Not bad for two weeks or less of no network. Sony can shut the network down for 2 weeks more often. 14 days of no network = 30 days free PS+
YAY

Oh lol, 1:34 is probably more realistic. :sly: I'm not driving the 908, and so I guess its no up to me to judge how fast it goes. But its certainly as fast as the GT-One. ;)

Hot Diggety! :D

That would be so worth it. If this is definitely true then I am one happy bunny. :dopey:

I sure hope PSN comes back early this week.

I miss u guys,
Want to race
Online.
Sharing,
Caring.
Praying together, at the altar of speed.
Every.
Saturday.
Together, as one.
Speed 4 ever.
LMP 4 ever.

👍

so the 24 hours of lemans is on jun 11-12. we also have a race . i wanna watch the lm24

If it goes well our race should only take 1½ hour, which is 6.25% of the race you miss... but it's your choice ;)

Well I owuld imagine most of us will be watching. Preferablly I would like the race to be pushed back a week or held on the sunday as I always have my mate over for the 24 hours so he will be bored for the hour while we race.

I doubt he would be bored :sly:

this was offline?

Yes it is offline. I'm aware of the different physics engine online. I shouldn't have much difficulty replicating that time online with the car tuned.

Wow the Minolta is brilliant. I did 10 or so laps and got about 1,33. It handles like a go-kart but accelerates like a Veyron. The infield section is so much fun in this car.:D

- You can find the Senna documentary online IF you do some digging. Its a brilliant documentary; its 2.5 hours long and i wish it was longer, i could have watched the old footage all day long.

- Not sure who but someone posted asking what i would do if we have too many drivers. I have my 19 drivers with 3 reserves , those 19 will always get priority. but if say everyone did show up one day, i will come up with a system to decide who races. I probably wont chose by who signed up first here in this thread because i knew most of you would race before i ever even created this thread. Maybe something like an F1 107% rule or take the top 16 Drivers. But im not sure yet, it probably wont be problem anyway.

- I really didnt think most of you guys wanted to postpone a race for the 24 hour. I mean yea i plan to watch 7, 8, more than 10 hours of the race live, but i'm still going to go about my day.......(Work, some sleep, GT5, listen on Radio Lemans when im not home). The race is 24 hours long and the GT5 race takes an hour an a half .... surly you aren't gonna watch it all?

- I dont follow NASCAR but there is one thing the American's do right, Theres a nice long race calender with lots of races. These 2 & 3 long week breaks in between F1 races are killing me. I can hardly find any motorsport racing on tv that isnt related to stock car racing. Maybe if F1 stayed closed to similar time zones we could get in more races and it would not be so mentally demanding drivers & the teams. There is no reason to come to Canada just to come back to Brazil a few months later. And Go from Monte Carlo to North America back to Spain! Come on Bernie :banghead:

- Been watching Aussie V8 supercars on speed. Cant wait for DTM & GT1. How do you guys watch other motorsport. I watch F1 on BBC iplayer instead of on TV if the race is on @ some crazy hour of the day so i can just get up an watch the race when i feel like. But coverage of other racing sports in America on cable TV is weak @ best.

- I dont care about free PS+ or the music store. but i guess ill try to DL as much stuff as i can.

- The new GTP app update for the iphone is terrible (iphones are terrible too). I typed this whole post on my phone and when i hit submit the whole app crashed. TWICE !

- Anyways!! Just want to say thanks to all of you for being active and sticking around on the thread. We've fill 20+ pages and have not had a single race yet :D

It's just a fail glitch with the update. It always does that, and Jordan has sent a new update to the iTunes App Store for another update to fix that problem.

And I've hardly had any testing in my Minolta as of yet...I've had a lot of fun doing other things and completely lost track of the little thing called practice that you need to win championships. :)

I always post on my iPhone. Is a lot easier for me. I'm posting on it now :sly: I always just use safari.

I have Eurosport 1 and 2 which shows the moto GP (but doesn't show the main event live, just everything else so I use BBC2) and Le Mans and most of the normal LMS as well. I hope it will show the ILMC only rounds like the China one. I have Extreme which doens't show anything but rubbish bike jumping (although it has Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory on which I love. Just wish I could see recent episodes) and the epic X games. For the ALMS (best in the world for me) I can use the ALMS website. Then I have a channel called Motors TV which never seems to run to their schedule and has no decent motorsport but has a mad programme called Inside Grand Prix which looks at each F1 race the week before the race and is really quite odd sense of humour (its rubbish) but it has Mobil 1 The Grid which is EPIC! I also love the Open GP series and the Formula Drift on this channel.

I agree, what a blast.

On a stock tune, my fastest lap was a 1:29.313. I'm no tune expert, and I couldn't manage to gain anything by tuning the car. Very pleased with my lap time though. I feel very ready to race, and can't wait for Daytona.

EDIT: More laps later, a 1:28.7 emerged from the timesheets.
