So just now I was watching a replay of 1 of our pre-season test sessions. Some of you may remember the race at Grand Valley. GTP_Johny was in the lead by a long way ahead of bombe, me and bermudakid. Some idiot was driving the wrong way and crashed into Johny. I was the only 1 who managed to get through the carnage and win lol. I laughed so hard :D. There was a great battle with bombe, bermudakid and me until that happened on the last lap. Who else remembers that race?

And bombe, we all knew what happened in another race at Grand Valley lol.

Yeh I got taken out turn 1 in that race and got hit several times again by rammers so I parked it :grumpy:

The race after that was good. I can't remember it exactly but me, you and Bermuda I think were having a massive battle. Then Bermuda span out so me and you were battling and Johny caught up and he hit you (and it felt like he hit me but he thought he didnt? Maybe Lag?) but when he let you back past I came through aswell and we had a massive battle to the line where I eventually won :sly:

And then there were the races at La Sarthe we had the same night. Unfortunately you had to go but me and Bermuda found ourselves on the same bit of road most of the night and were bump drafting to catch up to the leaders in nearly every race lol. Bombe won the first race though with me and Bermuda coming 2nd and 3rd (just) after what had been a massive battle in the midfield between about 6 drivers all race. The second race I think the leader was Johny and he went off (I think he was drunk lol) and me and Bermuda had broken away from everyone who was battling behind so we had a massive 1 v 1 battle to the line. Bermuda overtook me onthe second to last chicane but I got a better run out of the last chicane and beat him by less than a tenth :D. Bermuda then shouted a lot in anger at losing it lol. That was the most fun I'd had on GT5 for a long time :)

Sorry for the essay but I just thought I'd reflect on good times :D

What a grand prix. I won't say the winners name because some of you are from USA and haven't seen it yet but it is soooo good.

Also, when PSN comes back I will listen to this non-stop: http://nyan.cat/ I have a marathon going on it at the moment. Going to aim for 10 days hehe. Abit sad but why not. I'm nearly at 18,000. Which is what an F1 car revs too

Wasnt that good. Predictable result. Cool track though. Too bad it doesnt sell over there in Istanbul.

You seriously must be joking. That was an epic race!!

Also we do a little game over at the codemasters forums where we guess who the top 10 drivers will be in the race and points are given according to how close we have guessed (10 points for successfully guessing a drivers position, 5 points for guessing one place off a drivers position, 3 points for guessing two places off a drivers position, 30 points for successfully guessing the podium etc) and I'm now leading cause I had an awesome week and guessed the podium correctly and 10th place correctly :D

On topic now that I have a decent setup for my wheel that doesn't hurt my back I'm doing 1:36's round Grand valley offline. Just need consistency with my wheel now, then I'm ready to use it full time.

So what sort of lap times are people doing at Daytona Road? I was playing yesterday after a while and my best was 1:33.0xx. It was limited to 680 HP of course but I think I can knock off 1 second.

I still haven't tested anymore since my comparisons.

Also this is the 908th post. :D

Personally I am holding off on any testing until I can get online and practice with those physics. :(

That was an epic race!!
Epic if your a Seb Vettel fan....:sly: That was a good comeback by the Ferrari's but I was oh so disappointed by Rosberg & Schumacher falling back. :( And no a 1-2 for Red Bull at this stage in the game is only epic if you chug Red Bull in the morning.

Exactly that. It is getting frustrating. I want to see 3+ teams battling for wins. McLaren and Ferrari are currently those who can challenge Red Bull. Maybe Mercedes too in a few races.

I think it would be nice to have Lotus challenging for the win. Not likely at the moment. This is 2011. Last year, the start of a decade, a German and his raging Bull emerged from behind, charging through the night to beat the black horse at their last stand. This year, the Bull and his German rider have grown in dominance and the black horse with his Spainard master have struggled. The German and his Bull charge fowards into the new decade in pursuit of replicating and surpasing the legend of the old German and what was once an equally dominant black horse. Will the Bull match the old black horse or will the black horse of the new decade topple the Bull from its mighty stride? Only time will tell. What began on the battlefields of Australia will rage through Asia, across Europe, through the desert under the light of the moon and finish in spectacular warfare of Sao Paolo. This is Formula One.

I couldn't think of a good animal metaphor for McLaren so I didn't bother.

Arghh I've just had a conversation like this on CM forums. Some guy said the races suck cause Vettel dominates and I said it's not exactly his fault red bull have blessed him with a god like car. He's going to make the most of it. Your not saying the races suck I know but it's kind of the same thing. Here's the forum game I was talking about. As you can see I'm "VettelFan" and I'm leading :sly:

On topic MU I did a 1:31.3 at Daytona road with 648 bhp. Need an oil change lol.

Yeah your right, the races themselves aren't that boring. Just a little though at the front. Well of course he's going to take advantage of it and credit to his talent. It's just not that entertaining from a non-Red Bull fan. I don't want to argue lol. :)

And looks like I'm screwed for the race at Daytona. I need to compare with others using the 908 when PSN is back. I do though however, use a very basic setup i.e. change aero, ride height and transmission lol.

I will just say that was with wheel so I do like one amazing lap and then spin next lap lol. With a pad I'm half a second slower over a quick lap but much more consistent.

In vettels defense look at Mark Webber. Teammate in identical car is half a second slower in qualifying. Thats not all car dude. Thats skill

How can people argue that VEttel is not good and that he only wins because he's in a fast car. (Did you see monza two years ago). He won monza in the rain in a friggin TORO ROSSO

Do me a favor and lead me to that thread. Ill give em a beatdown

the only part i rlly enjoyed was the onboard from ferrari's What à awesome engine sound , And THE pass of my herO fernando diaz alonso !!!

I think everybody makes waaaay too big a deal over the difference in physics online to offline. The handling is nearly identical, and the only way to get good at the tracks remains to log laps. Especially with line off this season, for those who raced using it.

For anyone interested in comparing lap times, I'm in a 908 at 680 hp, doing:

1:30 @ Daytona
3.19 to 3.20 @ La Sarthe
1.13 to 1.14 @ Laguna Seca
1.37's @ Grand Valley
can't remember exactly at Suzuka and Indy, but I tested at those 2 a lot also and was happy with my times.

Surely as an F1 fan you can find the racing action all through the field this year exciting and not just worry about the podium?

And Schumacher is out of his league. Almost like he is not used to having to slice and dice with other drivers for position, was always on pole with Ferrari or passing with pit strategy and reliable runs.

Pole wasnt a factor, it just happend because Ferrari was the dominant team of that era. Here you can see him passing the ENTIRE field after spinning out on the 2nd chicane first lap...... then lifting off for Barichello in the finale to allow him to win. Again, HOW BORING to watch the same 2 guys win every race. That was a dark era for the competition and for ractings which dive bombed. Yes its fun to watch drivers battle mid-table. But watching the front battle is even more so.

You seem to be faster than me at Daytona. I was doing 1:31's today. I'm doing 1:36's at Grand Valley. Haven't done much more than that.

jake our lap times are pretty much identical on daytona and sarthe without the 10kg ballast on my car, but 1-2 secs difference when the weight is added on my 787b

I hope I can do that at Daytona :D Just streak away and dominate. Sadly ,if there's any track I know well enough at the moment, it's Daytona. I haven't driven on anything else at all yet. I guess i'll worry about those after Daytona.

May I make an advertisement once again for my F1 2010 league on CM forums. We now need just 4 more people for a full field and Renault, Force India, Toro Rosso and HRT are available. It's going to be held at 1900 GMT on tuesday nights which I know isn't too handy for people in America but it will be good and people in Europe it should be more alright for you.

Thanks :)

F1 2011 is up, im going to pre order it is week, cant wait! :D

I'll be waiting for reviews from the community first. I want to see enough changes to warrant a yearly purchase as well as really expanded online features. Running a league online in F1 2010 is pretty difficult compared to GT5.
