First off what I'd say is Suzuka is one of the main tracks the wing really benefits on. Secondly, Suzuka is my favorite track :)

But yeah I can understand the questioning. The wing I found adds maybe 0.3-0.5 depending on track, for me anyway. To be honest I think the Audi generally is just very fast though.

I agree with Jake though, without trying to sound arrogant lol. The wheel is the main difference. As I said a few pages back, in the run up to this season I did a 1:44.9 as my best lap with the Audi round Suzuka with 700 bhp. Now with the wheel I'm in the 1:42's. Same setup, same car. Round Nurburgring, AMF had a slight edge on me last season when I used pad in the Audi. This season I was 1.6 seconds a lap on average faster than him. I don't know if it's normal to gain that much with a wheel but it's the only explanation I've got

I can relate to this.

I'm about 5-20 seconds faster with any wheel. An extra 2 seconds moving from a MadCatz wheel to my G27.

I was never very good with the DS3. Only good enough to beat the AI.

I'm still a pretty slow driver compared to you guys though.
Except on Sarthe. I could keep up through the corners there but I got out accelerated. Hope my new gearing solves that. Maybe Suzuka sector 1 as well. I'm miserable at the rest of Suzuka though.

I have throttle off oversteer. The BMW was good but the back end has no traction. And whenever lifted I spun.

About to test a new gearing setup for Sarthe...

Albeit with a DS3.

Edit: I'm miserable with a DS3.

Also someone needs to add point totals to the spreadsheet.

Still, I am very curious about Razor's "mythical" tuning. Where did he vanish to? Hasn't been on GTPlanet for 19 days.

lol "mythical tuning" i like that. anyways im trying to set up my hdmi setting on my ps3 atm, not getting any display and i dont have working a/v cables to go into the ps3 setting to change it manually, im trying to make the auto detect work. :(

If your tv has multiple HDMI inputs make sure you're selecting the correct one.

Also assuming the PS3 is on. 👍

I have never heard anything but good things about your transmission setup.

Spa in practices when I started using wheel I went straight from 1:59's to 1:56's.

Obviously pad can be more consistent more easily, especially in rain. But over one lap wheel has enormous pace difference, for me anyway, and that's when I really buckled down, get some consistency and decided to start using it for season 5. Now I'm feeling as quick as ever and consistency is feeling good too. I don't know if it's normal to gain that much time with a wheel but it's the only explanation I've got

Yeah, .3-.5 faster puts it in the same league as the 01 r8. I'll test and we'll reevaluate next season.

This makes me a bit curious.

What kind of things are you using on your cars?
hi turbos? chassis stiffener? weight reduction? engine stage +3?

My 787B is completely stock save the tuning.

Using everything you've mentioned there and then adjusting power/weight to conform to the regulations. :)

And racing softs too ;)

I'm curious about the stiffener, or whatever it's called; how effective is it? I don't use it myself.

You should I think. My Peugeot had 5000+ miles on it before I stiffened it up. It made a huge difference as the car becomes more stable through the corners and less tail happy. I reckon you should do it every few races. 👍

I don't run a turbo, but do chassis stiffing.
Don't think you can do engine stg3 or weight reduction.

Well of course I use racing softs. But other than that and tuning I left everything else stock.

and @mu, do you mean chassis reinforcements or the chassis maintenance?

Edit: Bloody hell
I just tested my new gearing at Spa, didn't really make a difference. Old gearing may have been a tad better.
Tested at Sarthe. FOUR TO SIX SECONDS FASTER.

Looks like I actually have a fighting chance at Sarthe. Probably due to my hundreds of laps on rFactor with 1979 Sarthe, and my hundreds of laps of testing/driving for fun on Sarthe in GT5. I really want to do the 24h endurance now. Need to gain a level first...

Well my experimental wheel stand was about as good as anything Top Gear ever made (except the snowbine harvester A.K.A The Dominator). That sums it all up really. I guess I will have to bide my time until I have a good set up. Not long though so do not fear. And then when I get a 32" TV!!!!!!

I think Jamman is going to be pleased that I have got a little bored of dubstep for now and I am going back to good old Ellie G

Also couldn't have been as good as Geoff

Well, before you cry out that you may have a winning chance you should consider mentioning the lap times. Besides, La Sarthe is the track most of us have the most experience racing at and the winner of the race have always been the season's champion. So all the statistics says you don't stand a chance, lol

the winner of the race have always been the season's champion

Jake beat two people to that victory last season. TWO!!!
Jamman won because the top three drivers were fools.
You won because AS miscalculated his fuel levels.

Yes the champion has always won that race but never on outright pace. OK so Jake was outright pace against next to nobody.

I won't mention laptimes until later as I know these were a bit shoddy.
But judging by the testing yesterday, these laptimes would have put me at the head of the pack by a fair margin.

Sarthe is my best track. I'll try to do reasonably enough at the others but hopefully after tweaking my setup a bit more I should have a competitive enough setup to hopefully stay in the front half assuming I don't screw up too badly.

But judging by how good I've perceived my laptimes to be, I wouldn't be surprised if I were still 3+ seconds slower than everyone else.

Even if I were to win Sarthe, I'm pretty confident it wouldn't make me season champion.

AS won because he ran me off the track on the final lap in S1.

So, it has never been won on outright pace you say, hmm. Well, luckily, a race isn't a time trial, so they are all fair wins (well, kind of).

@Hofstee, I do the chassis reinforcement first. I think this can only be done once anyway. Then I do chassis maintenance every couple of races from GT Auto.

@golfer, calling me a fool for not beating Jamman to the title 2 seasons ago?

No, Johny, Blaze and Razor for their illegal moves in the last race.

Oh lol. By the way Jamman didn't win that race at La Sarthe but was still champion. Is he rubbing it in or what? *showoff* :sly:

@the guy that says he's twenty seconds faster with a wheel.

you're blowing out your arse

I'm about 5-20 seconds faster with any wheel.

No idea what the heck you two are talking about.

I suck with a DS3. That's the first 5-20 seconds, depending on track. 16 seconds on Sarthe. 20 on Nurb. I can't drive for **** with a DS3. I'll join you in an online lobby using a DS3 and prove to you guys I am absolutely miserable if you guys so care.
I changed my transmission and lost another four to six seconds on any given lap in Sarthe.

All right then, Autumn ring MINI

5 seconds.

I don't use aids other than TCS = 1 (on occasion) and ABS = 1 and it results in me spinning a ton with a DS3 since I use X and []

Give it a rest already.
