Sorry guys, (Especially my team mates) but I'm going to pull out, I've lost intrest in it to be honest plus I got work now which I didn't when I signed up for this and it requires long hours.

Sorry again but good luck to everyone.
:)

Round 1

Heat 1
  1. A vs. B
  2. B vs. C
  3. A vs. C
Heat 2
  1. D vs. E
  2. E vs. F
  3. D vs. F
Round 2
  1. Winner of Group 1 vs. Runner-Up of Group 2
  2. Winner of Group 2 vs. Runner-Up of Group 1
Final Round

  • Winner of Semi-Final 1 vs. Winder of Semi-Final 2

So, like, is that how it’s going to go down? If so, could you put it in the first post.

Did I really put "Winder?"

*checks*

Wow. How did I miss that? It is now fixed. I also changed "Winner of Group 1..." to "Winner of Heat 1..." for consistency. Here's the new and improved version:

Round 1

Heat 1
  1. A vs. B
  2. B vs. C
  3. A vs. C
Heat 2
  1. D vs. E
  2. E vs. F
  3. D vs. F
Round 2
  1. Winner of Heat 1 vs. Runner-Up of Heat 2
  2. Winner of Heat 2 vs. Runner-Up of Heat 1
Final Round

  • Winner of Semi-Final 1 vs. Winner of Semi-Final 2

After looking over the matchups, what will we do in the event of a three-way tie in one (or both) of the heats? An example situation:

Round 1

Heat 0

  1. X defeats Y
  2. Y defeats Z
  3. Z defeats X

Teams X, Y, and Z all have equal wins and losses. How will we decide the winner and runner-up to advance to Round 2?

Question. In our rebuttal, can we quote parts of the other teams argument in quote tags without it counting towards our word limit?

Another question... are we allowed to make minor corrections (for typos) in our argument post?

Here's how the debating bracket can work out (winners in bold):

Round 1
A vs B
C vs D
E vs F

Team Records
A (1-0)
B (0-1)
C (1-0)
D (0-1)
E (1-0)
F (0-1)

Round 2 Winners of first round paired with losers of first round
E vs D
C vs B
A vs F

Team Records
A (2-0)
B (1-1)
C (1-1)
D (1-1)
E (1-1)
F (0-2) - eliminated

Round 3
B vs. D
C vs. E
A bye

B (2-1)
C (2-1)
D (1-2) - eliminated
E (1-2) - eliminated

Round 4
B vs C

Round 5
A vs. B

It's not quite as elegant as my earlier proposal but it works out with 6 teams (which my other scheme did not).

###############################################################
Edit, if instead, the results of round two were:
Team Records
A (2-0)
B (0-2)- eliminated
C (2-0)
D (1-1)
E (1-1)
F (0-2) - eliminated

The next round would be
A vs. D
C vs. E

Let's assume the most difficult thing possible happens, C wins and A loses.
Here are the records:
A (2-1)
D (2-1)
E (1-2) - eliminated
C (3-0)

Now we have a matchup between A and D to determine who goes against C.

Team E have taken the 1st match.

Maybe you can do up a table or running results from the matches in your 1st post?

As requested, I've made a points list, course of events, stuff that happened list and I've updated links.

This should be a very interesting topic. I know im definetly interested in it and have touched on it for school back in the day.

I can’t count the number of times I’ve argued against that statement. To argue for it is going to be the suck.

I had noted you were against the said motion. Therein lies the challenge, Blakey boy.

To be fair, I had no idea whether you were pro or anti abortion, and had no idea you had a strong opinion of either. That was random.

Next heat will begin next Thursday, due to Heat 3's outcome making the rythmn of the contest out of sync.

Heck, no. I'm still hoping for the final round debate between Duke's and danoff's team. It's gonna be a great matchup. Guranteed.

Sorry for the delay.

The contest is certainley not dead, and heat 5is up and running.

First post has been updated!

Current status is that this heat will decide the second team in the final.
Tense!

Single elimination eh? Isn't it a little "college football" to have to go perfect to win the big one?

Well it conveniently narrows it down tro two teams for around Christmas time.

Don't forget, this is the first GTPMDC, so kinks can be worked out later.
Also, any criticisms can be posted here, so if anyone ever wants another one, they know what not to do.
