I would have no problem at all explaining my decision. I'm with Jjacks, I think it would be appropriate if the explanation was longer than a paragraph. I know the judges still have a few days until it's our turn to perform our part in the contest, but how shall we cast our vote?

My suggestion:

The judges will PM ultrabeat their decision and explanation. Individual decisions will not be discussed until all judges have turned in their decisions/explanations. This is to prevent any influence on a judge's decision.

After the winner is revealed in the appropriate thread, the debate director will then post each judge's decision and full explanation. (then the real debate can begin :p)

I'm not sure I fully understand what you mean.

The judges will not share with other judges who their vote goes to. This will stop any vote changes after reading another judges explanation and potentionally influencing another judge.

All judges votes and explanations will be released with their name, vote, and explanation individually after the winner is picked.

That's what I got from your post, wrong or right?

I'm OK with everything being decided here(not sure about the Star Wars/Star Trek stuff though). I also think sending a PM to ultrabeat(director) with your decision and explanation is a great idea. 👍

G.T
Damn, why didn't I look in this thread earlier? I'm so in for the next round. ;)
And the paticipants from the first "Mass-Debate" should have to sit out. You know, danoff, famine, etc., etc. :p

Sounds like a plan.

I thought the date was set for it to begin today. I remember reading that today was a busy day for a lot of people involved and talks were set for tomorrow sometime but I think getting everyone started at the same time is next to impossible.

Guys, what's the schedule?

Work has exploded, and frankly if it's kicking off any time in the next few days, I'll have to withdraw my cadidacy. I've got too much to do, and I just found out I lost one of the days I thought I had to do it.

Sorry to my team.

Today or not today, that is the question.

What's the general thought then?

Well...I'd like to get started today. However, it seems that it may be a problem for one of the main debate participants.

This would lead me to say let's do a quick "mock" run with a not so serious topic just to make sure things flow smoothly. Then we can run at full steam next week.

I don't see the big deal in waiting until next week to get started to wait for Duke to get some free time. It isn't as if this is something that is running and a delay would throw everyone off.

I can go with whatever people think will work best.

Following Famine's round layout, the following matches will take place.

A vs. B
B vs. C
A vs. C

D vs. E
E vs. F
D vs. F

Winner Group 1 vs. Runner-up Group 2
Runner-up Group 1 vs. Winner Group 2

Winner Semi-Final 1 vs. Winner Semi-Final 2

We can leave Duke's rounds till next week and start with D vs. E

Team D: FoolKiller, Swift and MachOne
Team E: Blake, Touring Mars and Casio

It's started! Teams D and E, let's go!

Thanks, guys. I'll try to clear some time later to get really involved.

Ultrabeat: I think it would be really helpful if you updated your first post in this thread with a definitive set of instructions and rules: when teams need to submit their arguments and rebuttals, how to submit said arguments and when to post them in the thread, how/when judges should nominate, etc. Right now all the information is kinda decentralized, so it really needs to be in one spot. ;)

Done.
