This looks like fun, I'll give it a go later today with a G25 with the Gate shifter :sly:

How exactly are you going to enforce cockpit view?

I think the oil change should be allowed anyway. No way to enforce it.

You do realise the two threads are different? This one is meant to be a fun leaderboard competition for all-comers, the other one is a showcase-magazine-interview piece, like in Top Gear itself.

Or did you just see "Reasonably-Priced Car" and react just to that?

Please, people, just leave all the misplaced finger-pointing pedantry out of it. :grumpy:

i got 1:37:525 with a controller
i think i made a few mistakes on the first corner, hammer head & charigo so i could knock of a bit more time off, saved reply, since it is 2:30am and i have no camera on me i will upload tomorrow when i use my phone's camera

i know my time wont count until i post a pic

This.

People should really read the two threads before jumping to conclusions.

+1 👍

Anyway... I enjoyed driving the Suzuki. Quite nippy and easy to get a good time.

1:37.584 - DS3

Still got room for improvement. No pic but I'll try and get a replay up soon.

For your information people... I DID read both threads and I find them similar... So sue me... Am I not allowed to convey my thoughts?

What a great idea! Fun challenge. My best (valid) time so far is 1:38.428. With a Driving Force GT wheel with paddle shifters.

For your information this has already been pointed out, as stated they are different threads about different (grated similar) things, serious why do we need to get all worked up about these technicalities people are clearly having fun with this, this is clearly different from the other threads goal so whats the harm.

I hope this thread stays up and I hope OP does more of these. The thread the mod linked to is great too but it's a different thing, that thread takes ONE member out of the thousands we have and does it around them but here everyone can go and compare times. Unless I'm missing something they're really quite different and there's no good reason to eliminate either.

The same way I enforce all the other rules, I can't but if someone wants to be pathetic enough to go against the rules for a top time with 0 reward oh well, pretty sad in my eye. :S and I revised the oil rule since the cars will need one eventually anyways.

Great idea having been itching to try a reasonably priced car challenge around Top Gear track since it was announced that it would be included in GT5. Will try some laps later tonight or tomorrow.

Loving the verbatim plagarism...

Link

See, now that is interesting...

For the record, I never suggested one be closed in favour of the other. I think having an identical name will be a tad confusing, considering the other is tied to GTP itself. If this is open to everyone (which I do think is a fun idea), why not have it in the online racing forum? Even if it isn't strictly online racing in the new form, it's time-trialing OLR, which we've done for at least a decade with past GT's. That's all.

I'm not trying to add to the turmoil here but I can see how both Threads differ from each other but in hind sight. Joey's was first since 2007. That neither her nor there...

I can see how this thread is for everyone but will see it not die off but get buried in threads in time. But also... What happens when this thread and Joey's cross paths between members?

This thread is for everyone to join in but lacks the structure of the segment everyone that watches Top gear, is used too. Joey's tries to follow the original like TopGear USA has done. (So Far)..

I'm not saying one is better than the other, but I don't see the end result with this thread. Its a great Idea but needs something different to set it apart other than just a thread.

Perhaps a RPC Group. (Reasonable Priced Car) Where Everyone can join and that stats can be put some where other than a thread.

Just a thought. Hope it helps.

Great idea for a little challenge! I will take my Swift Sport out tomorrow and try and set a time!

I found the thread and decided to make one here, so sue me, for crying out loud, ya know I see that and I figure hey, that would be a good thing for GTP! the community is so much bigger and all I get is drama.

"CHANGE THE RULES!"

"THIS THREAD IS SLIGHTLY RELATED TO THE ONE WE HAVE ALREADY WHY DID YOU MAKE ANOTHER ONE!"

"WHY DID YOU COPY THIS POST THAT ON ANOTHER FORUM THAT ONLY A FRACTION OF THE GTP COMMUNITY IS APART OF!!"

Know what, forget this, I tried to set up something fun, where ya know alot of people would actually join in and run laps and all people do is b:censored: . Sorry for everyone who was actually enjoying this but I'm tired of dealing with everyone's whining.

Honestly just make it a rolling start, it makes the competition a lot simpler.

It's no fun having to stop/restart/line up every time you attempt a lap.

I agree. When PD fixes a stand still in a patch, lets do ROLLING START. 👍

i just got a 1:36:577 took a video as well as pics, i used a controller

I did my time, then saw the above. Hope you ignore those being frustrating and nit-picking, it's a great idea. Even unlocked the Top-Gear Track and bought me a Swift to do it!

Anyhoo, my time was 1:38.858 on my 3rd ever lap using Manual Transmission on a Controller. It's good fun, gonna use Manual all the time now! :sly:

1:35.954

I should probably explain the 1:35.8xx - GT5 deemed it to be a clean lap (Time didn't turn red) but all 4 wheels went off track at Gambon :grumpy: so...no.

I've got the replay saved for the 1:35.954 run.

EDIT: I used a DFGT and the sequential stick btw
