All music makers of GTP! Feel free to post any recordings you have made of yourself playing. I'm not trying to take away from the "Collaborative Recording Session" thread, but obviously not everything that people make can be used for one song. Also, people may want to post entire songs that they've made by themselves, other than just creating riffs for another song. :) Of course, if people say "just post this in the other thread", then by all means, close this. But I'm interested to see what kind of songs people out there have made. :)

Anyway, this is something that me and a friend were working on tonight. Keep in mind, it didn't take very long to record this, and we have not started at all mixing anything, leveling out certain parts, etc. We haven't worked on any transitions yet either. I think it's a good start though, and when we're done, I hope it'll sound good. I finally found some people to play/jam with, it's absolutely great. :) Right, give her a listen and tell me what you think. By the way, the soloist is my friend, not me. ;) I'm not quite that advanced....yet. :sly:

cool. I need to get my damn string fixed.

I liked both! 👍

Too bad I don´t have the equipment anymore or I would try something too. :)

I agree. You guys are pretty good. 👍 Solid's Satrianiesque guitar was awesome! I usually like acoustic guitars, but after hearing those two tracks, I kinda wish I had electric guitar(and knew how to play it. :D).

Who needs live instruments?
I made this song about a year ago in Fruity Loops. I was bored.
It is NOT techno. Infact, I have no idea what genre you'd class it in.

It's called "The Happy Song" since NO ONE that's ever listened to the song, can resist being happy. Don't ask me, that's just the way it works.
Definately not the best I can do in FL now, but back then, this song was the shiznit.

Some very cool sounding parts when you start soloing near the end. I like. Is that using just a mic?

Yeah, it's not my usual setup which sounds a lot better. But, I got some somewhat decent tone, but getting the correct recording level was still a miss. I used My Wolfgang, seen in my avatar, a Zoom 5000 overdrive pedal, my old Digitech RP-1 multi effects processor, and my sons amp which is a Line6 Spider II 30 12" combo. The speaker sucks, but it was better than using the 8" Peavey my other son owns. I miced it with a Shure SM-57 close up, or at a slight distance, straight into my crappy mic input on my crappy computer. The mic input is busted, so I'll need to use the audio RCA input on the back, but I haven't used it yet. I don't play much guitar anymore.

Do you have Guitar Port? My friend bought it recently, and while using that to record he has convinced me to buy it for myself too. That way, we can create music while we're both at home just by creating riffs, sending them to the other person, and having the other player add whatever he wants on. :) It's $130 Canadian, I plan to pick it up this weekend.

Very impressive indeed... 👍 You guys are very good... I've recorded some stuff ages ago, but don't have the means to transfer it to .mp3 (for the moment)... not sure I'd post it up anyway :indiff: :p

Nice ones, Saleen Man and Solid! 👍

A long, long time ago I used to have a band (a Metal one, obviously). Well, it was more a gathering of friends who liked to play together, to be honest.
Still, we got a few riffs together, and one can almost say we actually did a couple of songs. We thought we would get a vocalist in the band, but that never quite happened. Because of that, this "song" may sound a bit strange but I decided to share it anyway.

Also, we only had a shot at recording this (only for fun and with a Minidisc, by the way) and, because those things always happen when they should not, the song is full of mistakes, specially in the first seconds. And yes, mistakes made specially by yours truly...

Having all that in mind, here goes:

Remember: It's Metal and it sounds like crap.

Nah. I didn't like it. I've seen it a few years ago. I didn't like the sounds that thing made. But, it does look like a handy little device.

Cool song, DM. 👍

Sounds a lot like a Ministry and Metallica mix.

Diabolical Mask: I liked both of those songs, very cool. 👍

MistaX: Definitely techno.

GT_Fan2005: :odd:

Everyone else: Post whatever you got, it doesn't matter if you suck or not. Rhyme.

I did a really bad experiment the other day, to see if guitar could sound like techno. It was just a little improv thing about trying to do a techno style bass line with tapping on the low E. Bad drum samples are garageband. Extremely bad guitar tone is my strat into a fuzz face (MJM london fuzz) straight into the computer! So needless to say I'm not exactly proud of the tone or playing, it was only meant as a memo to myself.

Each little bit was just improvised first take, so any form or melody is completely accidental.

I'm kinda embarrassed to post it, its not even remotely like what I normally do. Oh well, I might post something else at a later date when I'm allowed to turn my proper amp on to record... damn living in apartments where people whinge about noise!

london fuzz techno - James2097

Anyways, I hope the concept is at least interesting.
BTW, cool thread! 👍

That was horrible!

I know what you mean about composing while bored, though. I don't know if you guys remember my hendrix banner....yeesh. hahaha.

Here's a short song from my friends' band. This was before I did (actually still in the process of doing) their sound & recording. Please don't distribute. ;)

Here it is, this isnt the final version, as ive trimmed about 5 to 10 secs off the beginig and extended the end by about 15secs then ive mastered the final version.

DiabolicalMask, could you upload that second song again? I´m trying to download it, but it stops at 44%.

You mean "Song1", right?

I was just on my way to bed... I'll do it tomorrow, ok? Sorry.

Thanks for your interest. 👍

It's still crashing half way through, so weird. I´m having no problems downloading the other files posted in this thread, just this one.

I think Jack has your song, I´ll ask him to tranfer it to me through MSN some other time. Thanks anyway.

That's really weird... I just tried and it worked perfectly.

Did you get it from Jack? I can e-mail it to you if you want.
