Overdoing the semantics a bit...

Nobody bashed anyone other than a few verbal raised eyebrows at the OP's little tantrum.

Jeez. You can tell the games quiet when a thread like this gets so many replies.
Quick note: Around 5 threads of similar topic like this is on the first two pages of the main GT6 forum with decent 50+ replies.

Makes you wonder why id rather wandering around rumble strips and Console and PC gaming.

Really? Seriously? What I've wrote is "on the same lines as" that?

I'm not entirely sure how much more, erm, "polite" I could've worded my post. Even then, I'm not entirely sure what the big fuss is about what I've written. If that's your idea of "bashing" then you ought to find something non-trivial to be offended by.

Incidentally, I'd say that what @Il_Conte_Sky said is quite balanced given the accusations that the OP has made.

Your belief in your perception of my 'offendedness' is personal. You are welcome to it.

I was just just. You don't have to agree - you asked where the bashing involved itself in criticism - I demonstrated with some examples. There are hundreds more.
The point is we should address the issues - not the person's 'power of discernment' or their ability to survive IRL.

The issue the TS has is an old one. It comes and goes.
We have discussed it in many ways.

Here's an example:

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/taking-the-fun-out-of-gran-turismo-and-shoving-it.323269/

The issue is that we should enjoy in the threads made to enjoy the game and reserve the criticism for where it will be looked at appropriately - the Feedback Forum - or if such attention is needed, then in the relevant Forum or Sub-forum in a particular discussion that addresses that shortcoming.

Crapping on the same table that is being dined on causes a stink - that's what the OP says in a nutshell.
Some diners leave the restaurant.

Why do these threads keep popping up? They always end the same way. Pretty sure that this guy made this thread to exaggerate his exit and make it "controversial" for basically no reason. Seems like nothing but somebody wanting attention. Thread should've ended after the third post, in my opinion.

Why exactly is praising allowed in any part of the forum whilst criticism is restricted to just one sub-forum? Why can't we post about our opinions without these arbitrary limitations?

I mean, that's kind of the idea of a discussion board.

So when people bash Project Cars because of its many bugs it's actually a good thing because it makes SMS realise that bugs are bad and that perhaps they shouldn't add so many of them next time?

It doesn't work like that.
You didn't understand what I was trying to say. SMS rushed into releasing their game. Having watched so many videos about people playing Project Cars before its release, these people clearly stated that PCars had still work to do and major bugs but SMS still released it because the time it took them to release the game was getting ridiculous and got pushed back so many times already. They keep coming with lots of patches to try and fix and improve the game because it wasn't finished.

If any other devs watched what happened with PCars they'll know that PCars had so many bugs and that people didn't like that, so if they're not blind they'll see that they shouldn't rush into releasing anything before it has at least a very little amount of major bugs if they don't want to live the same experience PCars had.

And no, you don't have to play a game to have an opinion about it. Opinions can be based on nothing but thin air, that's fine. But don't pretend that you share that opinion in an effort to improve the game, because of you were genuinely interested in doing that you would:

  1. Try the game before you have an opinion about it
  2. Present your opinion in a constructive way

Feedback from someone who hasn't even experienced the product is bad feedback and as a developer you'd be stupid to pay any attention to it.
Not everyone say things to improve GT6 or any other games for that matter, I never said that, all I'm saying is that if you're willing to look past their obvious hate for the game, you can try to find what they're actually hating when you really pay attention to their comments. Don't get me wrong it might not always be the case, but trying to extract anything valuable from their comments isn't a waste of time.
Everything is valuable to a certain extent, if you only focus on good things you won't improve as much as people who pay attention to their strengths and weaknesses. If someone doesn't like a game without playing the actual game for one specific reason only and that this reason is why a lot of other people don't/won't play your game, then you'd be a complete fool to ignore what these people are saying unless you're self-sufficient.

I'd call that "might do some" rather than "as many as they can". Based on the quote the priority is clearly to increase the number of premium cars rather than to update standards. I'm guessing it will be similar to the changes from GT5 to GT6, so not more than a handful of updated models.
Still means less standards even if it's a handful. 👍

I agree, it should've been closed already, the title make it seems like GTP is battling with GT6 which isn't true.

After all, things would be much smoother if gamers decided to play the games that they like
Why do you think we play GT6? LOL We play it because we like it but we want it to be better than the competition, there's nothing wrong with that.

It's fine to have expectations and hopes regarding upcoming titles, but you also need to realise that developers can't tailor a game after your specifications.

Obviously, but they shouldn't ignore complaints/requests. When/if they see something users keep complaining about/requesting, they should at least think about how they could improve or damage the game if they add/fix what we request or complain about.

I'm talking about the cases when people say "game X is so much better than game Y and I will never play game Y but I'll hang around in the forum anyway just to bash it". That is not someone who wants to help improving the game, that is just trolling.

Or it could be people who can see what other games are doing better, people who wish to see the game they love go back to being the best game in that category (if they feel like it was). People who feel like the game can't stay the way it is. Nobody is in the forum just to shoot at GT6 (and other games), we're here to try to be heard and help improve our favorite games. There's really nothing wrong with that in my opinion.

The more i dug these type of GT6 drama, the more i feel guilty about GT6 and GTP in general.

GTPlanet here is like America, a multicultural country (in this case its not just GT fans, but a melting pot of Racing sims). I come for more forums of this type. All of it i left as soon as i come. Has no interest in joining them.

Forzacentral feels empty (most thread looks like a chat between several members), unregulated, and generally no direction. For a franchise that spawn Forza Horizon 2, id expect far better. WMD (PCars) feels like a confusion between Praise, Disappointment, and basically useless. Probably suitable for feedback and backers. But overall too biased and occasionally harsh for me to use. And theres the "Super Moderator" issue which, while getting better over time, is still questionable.

I see your point, Can't we just merge them together?

Perhaps you've difficulty in discerning constructive criticism from bashing? I dunno. Seems like it.
Or perhaps people have difficulty in discerning bashing from constructive criticism?

There is no way on this earth that all negative posts on this board are 'constructive criticism'.
And yet in arguments like this it all seems to be lumped under the one umbrella.
And seemingly no-one who offers this 'constructive criticism' has the will to admit otherwise.

There are many, many, many derogatory and what could quite easily be described as offensive posts targetted at Kaz, GT6, and PD.
With not an ounce of constructive criticism in them whatsoever.

So let's at least call it for what it is, instead of pretending it's all for the benefit of the franchise.

Basically what was said before me, and before the thread gets closed (because if you were really done you wouldn't announce it on a soap box) I just have to say good luck and farewell. The point of GTP which really makes it wonderful is not the fact that you have this wonderful vast amount of news dedicated to the namesake of said game but because of the passions of people who play the game. They're not "nayers" but realist who for the nth time enjoy the game with a deep passion and emphasis as much as the hardcore glossed over players who never have anything negative to say, cause the game can do no wrong.

If being a realist is a problem to you that's fine, but it becomes an issue when you want to basically denounce the forum due to it and even say it's so bad that staff are involved. AS if they have some oath to up hold to not have an opinion of negativity toward the game. which I doubt @Jordan would want his staff to be robotic about such a topic just to appease to his user base. Rather the subjectivity they bring to the game and unbiased opinions are what may hope to drive such a game due to such a dedicated site in a better direction down the road. The fact that even somewhat the fans here have been listened to (doesn't matter if you like the degree of it or not) shows that naysayers and fanatics alike drive this movement and in the end it's that allowance of such subjectivity that makes this forum and site a beautiful thing.

Not to be too harsh but have been known to be such, the forum isn't anyone's personal play ground or safe place when come to expand on thought about this game or others, rather you need to step outside of your personal bubble you've made and realize others aren't going to see GT in the same light as you. It is perhaps you that needs to realize this is a net forum and this is the idea of what makes them thrive, people conversing or debating about topics they have like interests in. It shouldn't be controlled because if it was to where every one only said good things about GT the forum quickly becomes static and nothing more than a news update.

Finally I say it will probably be closed (the thread) cause this is easily asking for a flame war to ensue due to your disillusion with what you wish people didn't do or say here.
If you are going to put down a lot of negative words torwards a large audience... I will shut up now. 🤬

EDIT: Where the hell do I join this cult?

I agree with this, but it has easily been seen when criticism turns into bashing. The people that the OP outed (@Imari and @Johnnypenso )aren't known for bashing but instead giving well thought and long posts on the issues and state of GT/PD as a whole. When new "GT fans" join who haven't played more than the fifth or sixth iteration and instantly fall in love, they don't take to kindly to those comments, especially when on the receiving end cause it seems like they're getting beat over the head with all this direct argumentation for what they stand for. People in the end take that overly serious conjecture and end up doing this grandstanding about leaving and then the rest of us go back and forth because of it, essentially giving the supposed leaving party what they want, but I digress on that.

The important key highlight you posted is that of discerning, and what Imari for example does is a lot different from say (not to be mean) what a user like HKS has been known to do and basically say "fan boy" or other bashing like terms to denounce that persons validation for defending GT. And in reality that's completely a wrong way to do it even if they are over zealous about the game in a misguided or emotional way. And the reverse can be said, there are great defenders of GT and those who go up against them criticizing it find a similar brick wall of information. The difference is one tends to count their losses and moves on and more so the other does this, and that seems to be the heart of the issue.

If you are going to put down a lot of negative words torwards a large audience... I will shut up now. 🤬

Thank you for that funny (this is sarcasm if people aren't aware), yet educational post. This is what the problem is, people post (I was known for it in the past as bad as the two outed, they know) long winded argumentative pieces essentially critiquing the shortcomings of the current GT and then get more or less responses like this from those who cant fathom that someone could speak so openly and harshly about the game they love. Once again it's the internet and people need to foremost recognize that before being invested in a forum, or just not join until mature enough and that's for both sides of the debate not just one side.

GTPlanet is great. Seen the threads for years. There is nothing wrong with the website or its members and staff. GTPlanet will be the most mature and calm forums about GT or any other racing game you will ever find. Maybe you're just exaggerating and taking the GTPlanet community out of proportion.

Also @Johnnypenso and @Imari are the ultimate bashers to you? Haha!
Far from that.

There are other sites like RaceDepartment and /r/simracing (I don't know if you can into reddit given your location...), although they are mostly PC centric.

Yeah, I've seen several times staff members defend people who bash GT in this GT forum, or bash GT themselves, not lying. I find this "strange" to say the least.

Like... ugh... cough...
Scaff? (I don't know if this is allowed; I don't tag him for this reason)
He hangs out in the GT vs other games thread a lot. ;)

I can have VPN on that. Can create account but cant post anything.

Aa for latter, Scaff is actually very opinionated on just about anything, not just GT6. See the opinions subforum.

I think he refers to another mod. Hint: The name starts with S and its the action where a car is behind another car to gain speed.

Scaff's a hardass. So is Famine.

Notice how I'm not tagging their names lol.

Was it on this thread that someone mentioned the SMS forum having a super mod problem? I've heard that before, elsewhere. I'm glad GTP is far from being as insane as that. I would have expected more from a crowdfunded development team's own damn forum.

They don't tolerate trolling or rudeness in the SMS Forum. For the most part the things that got people punted there would also get you punted here, namely, when a mod tells you to do or not do something and you just ignore it.

Thanks for the heads up. I only made a couple posts back in 2012 asking a question. Now I'm going back for help with steering wheel settings issues and tips. I think I checked before but the settings have been altered or something so I need to make sure of everything before committing to pCars.

I take it you're unaware of the person's posting habits that I replied to in that earlier post. As someone who admits to "play it up at times to stir the whiners and criers" and then doing exactly just that to some of the most rational, well thought out, open-minded posters (in topics not just regarding GT) the likes of Imari, Tornado, SlipZtrEm, it's hard not to see what exactly he sees as being "bashful".

That is the sort of "equating bashing with constructive criticism" that I am against.

According to PretendRaceCars (they stopped writing articles critical of pCars about now; it's all simracing drama now and posts critical of other games) the mods there seems to think that negative feedback is rude.

GTP is miles better than official Pcars forum :) The 3.0 bug and physics thread here won't do well there , I can already see some member post on 3.0 bug, physics, and the glitch threads here would be easy excuse for ban there. I often visit Pcars official forum from May to July, and man, they were bad and hilarious at the same time. Customer complaints ( from polite to rude, some with suggestions to Ian Bell about the forum and game ) back then was ban magnet even goes as far as ban due to liking someone post, SMS should have made a dedicated whine and cry thread there.

As far as i distanced from PCars forum, Pretendracecars is actually a pretty terrible source to cite. Some has a truth on it but the rest is mostly bias and sometimes exaggeration.

Especially given they now primarily run articles on simracing drama. 2salty4me... :irked:

Why wouldn't you be allowed?

The member you quoted has a strange view on things, where "other people call said member out on his stance that his way is the only correct way to enjoy racing games" equates to "bashing".

I think he refers to another mod. Hint: The name starts with S and its the action where a car is behind another car to gain speed.

You rang? :)

People are allowed to be critical: there is no requirement to only be positive when joining GTPlanet. The staff can't be everywhere, though: so if you see what you believe to be crossing the line from critical to straight-up insulting, Report the post. We don't tolerate people hurling names at other members, and that extends to PD, Kaz, and quite frankly, every other developer/personality.

It looks as though this thread has run its course. Lock 'em up, Lou.
