It annoys me that people just can't take any sort of criticism what so ever. One of the main reasons why we criticize GT6 in the first place is because we have passion for the GT franchise and we want to see it improve to be an amazing experience as we don't our childhood game to be run like this when to some people, it did so much more GT1-GT4 which is how we got into the franchise in the first place.

GT6 has sold about 8 copies for each "discussion" on GTP

Sony has sold about 7 GT games for each "message" on GTP

GT Academy has more participants than GTP has members, source required

Martin Allen, if you read this we value your opinion. Please elaborate.

Looks like GT6 won that one. Here's a Maserati, can it do 0-100 km/h faster than GTPlanet can produce 100 new messages? :)

As for the OP, it seems like the tone has become more hostile against games and game developers in the past couple of years, and not only on this forum.

I used to be a member of another forum during the Gt1, GT2, GT3 period. I have been here for GT5 and GT6.

Here there are members that I completely ignore and I skim over a lot of fluff that's posted, so the forum here is far from a utopia, but surely most people can still log in here and find something of interest? I mean there must be something we all share in common right?

Yeah, I've seen several times staff members defend people who bash GT in this GT forum, or bash GT themselves, not lying. I find this "strange" to say the least.

Who exactly so they can actually defend and elaborate what you clearly don't get as subjective thought on a game, that no where do the need to defend 100% like some gospel. The fact that staff do have issue with the game seems to bug the more hardcore fans (which I know you are) and thus that representation of power on this site seems to dissuade or anger those who would never bash GT. Cause now they feel their argument (that you have to win oh so badly) is up against an immovable object.

We have many other threads to discuss the merits and non-merits of Gran Turismo 6. Let's not turn this thread into one as well, eh?

Well I'm finaly done.. done with this forum.
It was the best and only forum regarding GT games on the whole internet. I came her exlusively for news and topics regarding GT games. And it was really fun reading all the topics on this beautifull forum.
It was.. before all the nayers begun to bash this game.
Now they have support from the staff too? Crazzy!

It's really annoing reading same people repeating themselves over and over again.. You can't even argue with them becouse they are a group, a clan, a vip clan.. you can't win.. they support each other, they defend each other and they recluting new members non stop.. and of course, they are here to stay (like the standars!)

I even try to ignore members like imari and johnny.. for what?
I really hope that one day you nayer will win over the positive thinking.. and I hope Jordan will realize what has this forum become and move from the project for good..
And to think how far have they push their effort into making this forum so great.. all the work Famine put in to the GTPedia.. Why would anybody want a book over the worst franchise this planet has to offer?
Enough.. I'm leaving this forum.

Yeah I know.. I'm nobody.. I even can't write or speak or use proper english.. That is also a reason why I read this forum for 10 years now and bearly wrote anything.. I won't be missed I know.. But the problem will remain.
And no.. I'm not another ultra-fanboy who can't take any critics on his favorite game.. I'm just utra-annoyed!

Have a nice day GTP! Goodbye!
People constantly saying the same thing about GT over and over again, are mostly people who played GT since GT1, and they're allowed to be upset with PD/GT because it has clearly fallen behind other racing games, they're allowed to be upset that their favorite game isn't improving at all and practically ignoring their opinions.
GTP is a forum mostly dominated by GT fans, I repeat GT FANS! all the negativity regarding the game is an attempt to make PD understand that the game needs to be improve so that they can love the game as much as they used to back in the days. No one can use the right words every single time, some comments might seem a bit harsher than some others, but the feeling behind most of these comments is the same.

Regarding the bold section of your comment, Standard aren't here to stay at all, they're temporary if we believe in Kaz's words about them. They're trying to convert as many standards as possible for GT7, while it is very likely that GT7 will still have them, it might have less than GT6.

That's why they abandoned half life 3 mid development. :(

I'm assuming I'm part that fluff? Not for negativity though.

Well, here's a bold idea: If you find that another game does something better, perhaps that's the game you should play? After all, things would be much smoother if gamers decided to play the games that they like, instead of trying to fix the games that they hate. It's fine to have expectations and hopes regarding upcoming titles, but you also need to realise that developers can't tailor a game after your specifications.

Some of us already do. That doesn't mean we don't ever want to play Gran Turismo again. We just know it can be better, which is why we voice our complaints. If GT7 comes out and I hear that it improves on GT5/6's issues, then I will gladly purchase a PS4 for it.

If we hated Gran Turismo, we would see no desire for it to improve.

There isn't anything specific about wanting better AI, sounds, and making sure promised features arrive in a timely manner, among other common complaints.

Sometimes the things that other games do better aren't enough to make the switch compared to what you like about the game you're trying to help get improved, which is mostly the case here, that's why people stick with GT and wants to see it being improved/fixed.
Problems aren't made to be ignored, they're meant to be solved in order to move forward. GT doesn't fix the main problems they practically ignore them, which is why the game has fallen behind the competition in all the areas that people keep complaining about over and over again. Luckily they've started to work on those problems, GT7 might be the game that makes most of these problems disapear, they're working on the sound and hiring people in order to improve that area, they're trying to turn as many standards as they can into premiums for GT7, which is great.
If no one was complaining about these things, it wouldn't have been a popular issue for that franchise and they would have probably kept it as it was forever.

That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the cases when people say "game X is so much better than game Y and I will never play game Y but I'll hang around in the forum anyway just to bash it". That is not someone who wants to help improving the game, that is just trolling. And it's not just GT, you can see it in the Forza forum and the Project Cars forum as well.

^ Where did you hear that?

Constructive criticism is fine. Things like "Kaz should be fired", "Fantasy cars sucks", "Why is he travelling around the world when he should be working on the course maker?", "PD are lazy" etc. isn't constructive. Things like this: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/thre...tand-out-the-most.333779/page-3#post-10949340

making sure promised features arrive in a timely manner

^ That sounds good on paper but it can't be done in reality. You can try your best to have a feature delivered in a timely manner, but there's no way of making it certain. You don't know for sure when a feature will be complete, or if it's actually doable at all, until it's been done.

Which is also why game developers doesn't make "promises". You can call it an announcement, or a planned feature, or something else that actually describes what it is. "Promise" is the wrong word.

They might not want to improve the game but without knowing it, they're giving away what attracts them in game X so if game Y's devs look at the forum they'll see something that people like from game X and take it in game Y so that more people will buy game Y, so their hatred towards game Y can turn into an improvement for the game they "hate". And besides, you don't have to play a game to know it's not for you and that you will not like it, it helps but you don't have to.

I doubt that we’ll be throwing away the standard cars, each car has its own fans. So I think we’ll hang on to the archive. In the meanwhile, some of those cars we may be able to make into Premium cars as they become available – but basically we’re more focussed on increasing the number of premium cars.

idk I'd say it used to be pretty bad in terms of members not getting along. the year of 2011, especially the beginning, was pretty bad. the beginning of 2013 seemed worse in hindsight.

right now, I think the apples who were bad :) have left. still, sometimes people have opinions that come off way too negatively that it hurts the vibe around here. there's no denying it. and still, GTP is at the opposite end of the spectrum whee compared to the comments section of a Forza or GT article.

It's a given they'll convert a select group of cars into premium. I'd be surprised if the Yellowbird isn't in that group. And the Spyker! please please please fingers crossed

As for the first part of your post, one would think that telling any racing game developer to make the AI competitive and "fun" to race against is the most redundant thing to ask for. I think constantly mentioning that the Spyker's interior needs to be modelled since day 1 of GT5 is more NECESSARY. It's just two examples - the best ones.

OP, if you're going to leave (which I doubt you will because you'll probably just come on here without logging on), be my guest. Also nobody, like the two people you've mentioned, has done nothing to make you wanna leave this forum as well. They express their feeling towards GT and only GT, nothing more. Please understand the situation before jumping into conclusions for the wrong reasons.

So. You wanna know why you're seeing negativity towards GT6 in the first place? It is because of PD, who continues to ignore their fanbase and not improve and fix the flaws in their current game. They assume all we want is better engine sounds, but it's more than just that, and I mean MORE such as improving the AI. The future isn't bright for GT7 if PD remains this way and onward.

Hell, even Square Enix started listening to their fanbase for FFXV and my little bro who follows them told me they even have a twitter account to interact with them, and they're a japanese company as well. Yet, for some odd reason, Kaz and PD chooses not to do the same as if nothing is wrong.

If you look at other developers and what they're doing, you'll understand why most are upset about GT6c and PD. Communication, a very important thing in the gaming industry nowadays. It's not the 1990's anymore. Most developers are listening to fans who help them improve their games through feedback. Turn 10, SMS, Evolution, you name em'. Speaking of Evolution studios, they had a far more worse time with Driveclub than PD did with GT6, even to the point of going through layoffs! Yet, they've kept improving their game while listening to fan feedback, despite all the negativity DC received.

So here's my advise to you. Take a break off of GTPlanet for awhile, and come back whenever you're better. I know I have (most times), and it usually feels great! :D Do stuff outside the internet to take your mind off of the forum. :)

Yes, I know. Somebody will probably tell me to "shut up" again...

I don't think they're a "vip clan" or that mods are defending them. I agree with most of what they have to say so I don't need to come here frequently just to repeat myself. My activity here has diminished a lot since last year because I don't really care all that much anymore and I'm actually enjoying GT6.

What I do find annoying, very annoying is that GT6's specific flaws are always brought up as arguments to excuse or defend other games, even within their specific sub forums. If you talk about an issue with PCARS, it's only a matter of time until someone tells you "this isn't GT6". It's an elitist attitude, now you can't say you like some things about GT without your views on other games being ridiculed.

God forbid that someone could enjoy his/her games for what they are instead of how they stack up with each other.

I'm very critical of all games and I don't count on anybody's word on a particular game. My views come from my own hands-on experience and so when I have a genuine complaint about a game, an argument that goes along the lines of GT6 being worse so it's not a problem doesn't hold any water for me.

This makes discussing games here boring, repetitive and frustrating so as a result, I hardly ever write anything around here.

Constructive Criticism + Bashing = Bashing
Perhaps you've difficulty in discerning constructive criticism from bashing? I dunno. Seems like it.

Much like the internet, you get out what you put in.

Much like life, it's what you make of it.

The amazing people and times I have had, and continue to have, keep me coming back. But it isn't free. I have to put in a little bit of work for it, but the benefits far outweigh the negatives, especially when given the tools and advice to do so.

What you manifest is before you.

Well telling someone they're stupid before showing them how to fix something isn't constructive. Leaving out the first bit would be good.

I see what you did there. Kudos :)

My reply wasn't meant about how you post. It was about what I've seen from the the people who give off that negative attitude and make the kind of posts that are and can be viewed as bashing.

Seems to me like you're still under the assumption that all constructive criticism is bashing. Otherwise you'll have realized that I've conceded your point that "telling someone they're stupid before showing them how to fix something isn't constructive."

Permit me?

That's on the same lines as:

..........................XsnipX.............

Well, you're making the right chioce I think, because it seems you aren't cut to live in a forum, or in society in general.
See ya

Yes? Bashing before criticism?

.............XnsipX..........Somebody will probably tell me to "shut up" again...

Please don't. Cunctipotent critics can be useful.

Permit me?

That's on the same lines as:

Yes? Bashing before criticism?
Really? Seriously? What I've wrote is "on the same lines as" that?

I'm not entirely sure how much more, erm, "polite" I could've worded my post. Even then, I'm not entirely sure what the big fuss is about what I've written. If that's your idea of "bashing" then you ought to find something non-trivial to be offended by.

Incidentally, I'd say that what @Il_Conte_Sky said is quite balanced given the accusations that the OP has made.

@photonrider

Bad To The Bone, B B B B Baaad, BAD TO THE BOONNNE

It really didn't come off that way. and since we're down this road, I remember you just right.

I'm gonna gooo now. I gotta find my friend... Larry!

Overdoing the semantics a bit...

Nobody bashed anyone other than a few verbal raised eyebrows at the OP's little tantrum.

Jeez. You can tell the games quiet when a thread like this gets so many replies.

So when people bash Project Cars because of its many bugs it's actually a good thing because it makes SMS realise that bugs are bad and that perhaps they shouldn't add so many of them next time?

It doesn't work like that.

And no, you don't have to play a game to have an opinion about it. Opinions can be based on nothing but thin air, that's fine. But don't pretend that you share that opinion in an effort to improve the game, because of you were genuinely interested in doing that you would:

  1. Try the game before you have an opinion about it
  2. Present your opinion in a constructive way

Feedback from someone who hasn't even experienced the product is bad feedback and as a developer you'd be stupid to pay any attention to it.

I'd call that "might do some" rather than "as many as they can". Based on the quote the priority is clearly to increase the number of premium cars rather than to update standards. I'm guessing it will be similar to the changes from GT5 to GT6, so not more than a handful of updated models.
