Stewards Notes
Beware of daylight savings time and use the links above to double check the start time in your time zone! Based on driver response (we went with the majority) we're "sticking" the EU time slot to GMT time until EU summertime begins and we're "sticking" the NA time slot with the majority of North America which means it moves relative to GMT due to Daylight Savings Time.

In the event of a field of 13-16 drivers we will disable mics and race with one grid. With 17+ we will split the grid.

Register

Eligibility

This WRS-Online event hosted by 3D3 Racing is open to GTP_Registered members only. If you are not currently on the registry run the GTP_Registry qualifier and join now!

Registration Instructions

The following must be performed by every driver for every event:
  • Click the registration button above, fill-in and submit the online registration form (use your GTP_ tag ID)
  • Leave a quick note in this thread to let us know you've registered and any other comments.
The following must be performed only one time per driver (not per event):
  • Send a PSN friend request to GTP_3D3Racing, GTP_3D3_A and GTP_3D3_B from your GTP_tag account.
  • Submit the 3D3 Racing Online Driver Database Entry Form. Your information will need to be verified before you are added to the db and before your ID will appear in the registered driver table above. You can view the official driver database here.

There is a 32 car/driver limit for this event (per region) and slots are awarded on the grid using a first come first serve basis. Reference the registered drivers table above for availability. This is a stand alone race and points are not tallied for a series. Future WRS-Online races hosted by 3D3 racing may have different driver limits and will require re-registration using the same first come first serve basis and participation in future events is optional.

Registration Changes

If you want to change your time slot, add a time slot or update your color choices just click on the registration link and fill out the form again and submit with new values. Your last entry will override any previous entries.

Cancellations

If for some reason, after you register for the event, you are unable to attend please click the registration button above and complete the form again selecting "cancel" as your status. Please also post a note in this thread as the table above can take some time to update.

Delaying or Restarting Race Start

Once the race countdown timer has started, the race will only be restarted in these cases:
  • Multiple drivers report a black screen/hang, instead of the 3-2-1 countdown.
  • One or more drivers get disconnected before race-pace has begun ("GO" for grid-starts, end of formation lap for rolling starts).
  • Steward realizes there is a condition that would lead to an unfair or poor race experience.

Once the race countdown timer has started, the race will explicitly NOT be restarted for:
  • Latecomers, even if you've registered
  • Driver realizes he picked the wrong car parts (ie, tires) or driving options (ie, Auto tranny)

Formula One Style Formation Lap and Standing Start
  • After qualifying stay on track and a steward will read off qualifying times. When your time is announced (assuming it's correct) exit to the lobby.
  • When all drivers are in the lobby the steward will re-open the pits and all drivers should enter the pits.
  • The steward will call the drivers 1 by 1 onto the track in qualifying order and the drivers will line up in single file behind the pole sitter in order to stage the grid.
  • Once all drivers are in their proper start positions the steward will start the race countdown timer.
  • After the system places you on the grid for the start, drivers will run a "briskly paced" single file formation lap in quali order. If the system gets the order wrong use the formation lap to quickly shuffle.
  • The pole sitter should run the formation lap at a "reasonable" speed so it's completed between 2:00 and 2:20 on the race clock.
  • Weaving or other tire warming procedures are NOT allowed during the formation lap.
  • Following the exit of the final chicane all drivers will proceed to their appropriate grid starting marker. Odd numbers on the right, even on the left.
  • Once in your spot apply the breaks and do not move.
  • The race clock in the top right corner of the screen will then be utilized for timing the race start.
  • At exactly 3 minutes (3:00.000) the race starts.
  • Should any driver mistakenly start prior to that mark they must lift immediately so as to not gain position from the error prior to turn 1.
  • If a driver misses the start you are allowed to pass on the straight, but only if you started at the proper time and can make the pass safely prior to turn in for turn 1.
  • Be cautious and courteous in the first turn. Dive bombing will be penalized and will not be tolerated. It's a long race and error on the side of caution as there are no runoffs and only walls to bounce you back into traffic.

Pit Entry and Exit Guidelines
  • On entry to the pits you should not bomb in full speed as this will result in significant wall contact which is not allowed.
  • A target entry speed of about 85 kmh / 53 mph in 2nd gear is a safe entry speed.
  • Although we are not imposing a fixed pit entry speed limit if you go in too fast and make hard contact with a wall you may incur a 15 second penalty for minor boundary abuse.
  • Note that the AI will not take over the car immediately so be prepared to make the first turns on pit lane yourself.
  • Practice your pit entries and find a braking point just like any other corner.
  • On exit from the pits stay to the far left. There is a dotted yellow line designating a lane to the far left and you should stay to the left of that line for the entire time which is the preferred side for turn 1 anyway.
  • Remember, traffic on course has the right of way over cars exiting the pits. However, oncoming traffic should stay to the right of the yellow dotted line if a car is coming out of the pits.

Standard Clean OLR Rules Apply:

  • Unless otherwise specified, all rules from the original WRS event apply.
  • You are expected to drive clean at all times as if you are racing in the WRS. All participants are required to follow the GTPlanet Online Racing Rules & Guidelines.
  • 3D3 Race Stewards (who are taking part in race, but will review the replay) reserve the right to kick out or invalidate the result of any driver from the Race Room for driving offensively. If you ignore any warnings from the stewards and are kicked out of the race room, you will not be allowed to participate in future 3D3 events.
  • Contact with walls should be avoided. Wall riding/bouncing to gain time will be penalized and/or can result in disqualification.
  • Rumble/ripple strips are part of the track
  • Runoff areas are not part of the track including green painted concrete.
  • Limit your contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
  • No hybrids - if you're caught using a hybrid or attempting to enter a hybrid onto the track during an official event you may be banned from all future 3D3 Racing events.
  • No cheating of any kind
  • Nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules
  • Passing and Blocking: Aggressive blocking is not permitted, but the driver in front has the right to choose his/her line and braking point and drivers behind should respect that line. Be especially careful when you are on older tires than the competition as the speed difference may be significant. These events are "for fun" so just play nice and take a conservative rather than an aggressive approach when possible.

Good Luck, OLR Team:gtplanet:

Twissy-003

After each Wednesday event we're going to give drivers 48 hours to submit race pictures for our "Picture of the Week" contest (submission deadline is Friday @ 8:00 PM Pacific).

Submit your pictures by simply posting to this thread after the event and before the deadline. Please provide a short name for each of your submitted pictures which will be used in voting. e.g. "WRP001-1 : Lap 1/Turn 1", "WRP001-2 : The Crash", etc. All posted pictures will be copied to the showroom post by an admin in the order posted.

Rules:
  • The deadline for submission is Friday @ 8:00 PM Pacific.
  • Each entrant can submit one to three pictures each week.
  • The entrant need not be a participant in the race (if they can get their hands on an official replay they can submit).
  • All content from the picture must come from one or both of the official event replays (EU and/or NA).
  • The pictures can be "photoshopped" or post processed in any way or can be straight from GT5 (montages are accepted).
  • You can put your tag/initials or a small stamp on the pictures, but keep it discrete.

Once the submission deadline has passed there will be a 48 hour voting period (ending 8:00 PM Pacific on Sunday). The winning picture will become the title picture for the thread and potentially the historical results thread.

Yup signed up. Couldnt help but notice the picture of the track is rome circuit, but it says madrid. Presumed madrid is the correct one.

I'm a bit confused. How come to time has come 1 hour forward?

It's the same local time in UK as last week assuming you moved your clocks to observe European Summer Time. For those in NA it's back to the time it was before we changed to Daylight Savings in early March (3:00 Eastern / Noon Pacific).

If you look at the events in April last year (like GTP WRS-Online : Event 30 : Why has it Denso Long? - Apr 4) the times were the same: 3:00 PM Eastern | 12:00 PM Pacific | 19:00 PM GMT

Yh. I'm still a bit confused lol. How come you don't just have it so its always the same time? So for example, its always 8pm gmt, even after summer time shifts and whatnot.

Time zones and whatnot confuse me a bit so it might just be me being stupid.

The first year we stuck all times slots to NA-local times.

Regardless, it has to change for someone at some point unless you can lobby all the global governments to stop observing the time changes.

This year we discussed and voted and decided to "sticky" the EU races to UK time (or any time zone that observes EU Summer Time) and "sticky" the NA races to NA time (or any time zone that observes Daylight Savings Time). For everyone else things shift for each time slot.

No matter what we do someone isn't happy and someone is happy. Ask Ren... he can now start participating where he couldn't at 20:00 GMT.

Oh yeh I get it now! 💡 Wow, I feel like such an idiot. I couldn't figure it out but now you've said it, it all makes sense. Haha, silly me.

We are racing at Madrid. If someone slipped a Rome picture in there check your calendar. If not I will check mine.

Oooh, has the registration table been updated. The division section looks all funky! :P

Edit: Is there any further idea of how many laps this race will be? I don't think I'm gunna have that much time tomorrow for practicing, so getting some practice in today. Would be handy for coming up with a strategy.

I'll do my best to get those numbers up shortly. I have yet to do a lap... Holiday weekend so we're a bit behind schedule.

Edit: Is the reg table still messed up? It looks fine to me.

Hey its cool, I can fully understand. I can just run some laps assuming that fast depletion is going to remain the same, and do the rest when the laps are figured out.

And the table isn't messed up, it's just, the column where the division is seems to have undergone a graphical change. It's not just me seeing that is it?

Laps = 31 (+1 formation)
Tire Wear = Very Fast

You'll consume about 5.7 L per lap so you'll have to pit and add quite a bit of fuel, but one stop will be enough and you'll have a 4-6 lap window where you can pit and still make the 2nd stint on fuel.

With fast tire wear there would be no pitting. That setup at Madrid would be a bad idea as it's very hard to pass cleanly.

EDIT: And yes, I updated the division column to use the same graphics as the time trial leaderboard. You prefer the old version?

Tidgney has got the bug now aint ya 👍

I needed a good excuse to make sure I kept playing, and after last weeks amazing racing, I have a bug and then some :D!! Looking forward to it :)!

Although with the time change I may need to be slightly aggressive with my driving to get home in time on Wednesdays from work lol (Off this week though :D), but I'm up for the challenge of making it back :D!

I'm confused about you guys in EU talking about the time changing. Your local time shouldn't have changed since you switched on Mar 31 from GMT+0 to GMT+1. Or am I missing something.

I don't really get it to be honest. Lol. These time changes screw with my mind on another level. I think that we have moved to BST (which is equivalent to GMT+1).

So I think your actually right Tim, it will still be 20:00 in UK when the race starts.

Edit: And I think it looks cooler now than before. But I mean, its not like its gunna change my life or anything ;)

Yes, we're in BST now, which is GMT +1. Maybe you could start using BST instead of GMT to make it easier to understand? That way it would be 20:00 BST.

O your right actually with that, I hate daylight savings and all the random changes, to me there's no need for in in this day and age but thats me going off topic :P!

Put me down as a maybe again. I'll try and do some practice laps today/tomorrow.

I'm a fan of this track, I think it's under-rated, reminds me of opera in GT4, I miss that track :(

Signed up for the NA race, have to run some practice laps so I am not too much of a hinderance. Good to be back home after an 8 day lay off.

Relative time might not have changed for some, but it has for me - signed up!

In other news, I've definitely come around on this track (since the parity races here), but if I happen to win lotto, I'd consider buying and importing this car just so I can remove the gearbox and subject it (the gearbox) to a sledgehammer, compaction into a small cube and/or explosives.
