Worked a miracle with the Shelby. Got it much lower than I expected. I'm not telling until sunday night :P. TVR loses in the corners. It understeers in low speed, and if you try to add some throttle to get some oversteer ,the back really starts to slide. But I got a 1:48.652 out of it. I'll try and improve on it later.

Scraped off .999 seconds off the TVR. Now, it's a 1:47.653. I've amazed myself. Shelby time is in the 1:46's

My final times:

Shelby Series One Super Charged '03
1'48.439

TVR Tamora '02
1'49.775
img0084y.jpg

combined time:
3'38.214

please check if it is clean. thanks

I was unable to use my son's PSP last night, so I'll have to try and improve my times tonight.

I don't think I can break into the 1'46 range though!

Was able to knock a few tenths thanks to the setup Lion-Face posted.

Shelby - 1.47.007
TVR - 1.47.976
Combined - 3.34.983

Congratulations on getting a 1:46.8xx in the TVR that that must have been an amazing lap in a car which is extremely difficult to control on PSP.

I was incorrect (thankfully).

I started out with the Shelby and by lap six, I had recorded a 1'46.888. I immediately switched over to the TVR and the frustration began. About 45 minutes later (45 minutes of squealing, smoking, and sliding tires) I decided to put traction control on a setting of 1. With TCS on, I was able to get very consistent laps between 1'47.6xx - 1'47.9xx (but nothing faster). After 30 minutes of that, I turned TCS off again and tried my luck. I had a lot of slow times, but every once in a while, I'd bust off a fast lap (1'47.5xx or lower). After racing with the TVR for well over two hours straight, I finally got a 1'47.107 - I can't even tell you how relieved I felt.

I would normally post my times today (Sunday afternoon), but I truly feel like there is a chance that I can improve my Shelby Series One time as I barely used it last night (only about 10 minutes). I'm done with the TVR Tamora though. I really don't have any reasonable hope of getting faster with that car. So tonight, the Shelby and I have an intimate date (lol) - just the two of us. Hopefully we'll make beautiful music together (but no sparks!).

current times -

Shelby: 1'46.888

TVR: 1'47.107

combined times: 3'33.995

Boy, this was a good challenge. I enjoyed tuning the cars, and going lap after lap, trying to squeeze out the extra tenths. I know I won't win, Lion-Face is out there, and he's probably broken into the 1:45's by now, but I've done the beest I can, and i'm satisfied.

AMAZING! 1'47.200 in the TVR! using N3. I had an ultra hard experience with the S2 so i guess N3 is much more harder. I salute you guys! you got awesome skills! :)

Gutted I couldn't break the 1:45's. I know the Shelby can do it but I left it to the last few hours to start my time attack with the Shelby and just ran out of time.

Great times Peter! Really impressed with your submission!
You had me a little worried as I really had to get a good time with the Shelby to come out ahead, and I kept making silly mistakes, grazing the wall on the way into corners. I had already done a 1:46.4xx vs AI in single races earlier in the week, but then after hearing the TVR was the harder car to drive, I put most of my time into that. Then going back to the Shelby for the final push for a time, it was quite a shock at how different it was to control and took me a lot longer than I thought it would to get back into the groove.

Good challenge this week, really enjoyed putting in the laps!

I improved with the Shelby, but could only knock a couple of tenths off my time. I'm pretty much maxed out with these automobiles and content with my times. This track/car combo(s) turned out to be a bit more challenging than I though!

Oh, sorry, my mistake there. When I did a 1:47.200, I was so happy, I swappen on some N3's to do a drift lap, before I saved the ghost.

Ok... first of all, let me congratulate Lion-Face on a nice win this week with a combined time of 3'33.197. I also want to offer a round of applause for sausages, Fuchur, and Sylar. Those four competitors were the only ones to run clean laps. Everybody else (myself included) had one lap where we slightly grazed a wall and caused a spark to appear. There was also one instance of all four tires being up on multiple curbs/rumble strips. None of the infractions were, in my mind, a case of someone deliberately trying to cheat - I want to make that very clear. It was simply a matter of us (again, myself included) not watching our replays closely enough on a tight course. In my case, I had a single spark occur when I got too close to the wall (along side Central Park) just before all those tight, 90-degree turns start. Most every case was similar nature.

So, now where does that leave us? Obviously the four people will get their points and that's pretty easy to figure out. As for the rest of us that competed, but had one bad lap, what would be best? The typical answer would be to simply disqualify us and we'd receive no points. But that would mean that those that did this challenge all week would be in the same position as those that didn't even compete in this week's event. Should we then give everyone that was a part of this challenge, but had a bad lap, a single point for participating? I would like for the four winners this week (Lion-Face, Sylar, sausages, and Fuchur) to PM me and let me know what we should do. Please let me know as soon as possible so I can update the leaderboard!

I've received three of the four responses via PM. I'll wait another 10-12 hours (or so) to hear from the final competitor before we settle this issue. Everything should be finalized and posted by tomorrow. Thanks for your patience!

Thanks to everybody that weighed in on this matter.

The majority suggested giving all the disqualified competitors 1 point for participation... so we'll do just that. For future reference, we'll just keep it simple and give any infraction of the sort 0 points. This one challenge was a bit unusual as we had five people disqualified and only four people ran clean laps. I think everyone now knows that we're going to have to extra vigilant in reviewing our replays before submitting them. So hopefully we'll never deal with this again.

I was expecting to get a big leap from this round. I think if my times were legal, i'd be in 2nd. That would have really bump me into championship contention.

whoa. you're right I just watched my replay and I got sparks on the shelby lap. its the drawback of me using the overhead view. cant see if the tail of the car hits the wall. And due to sometimes I race with muted sounds while riding a bus.
I must admit I put a lot of game time in the new york track and was fulfilling enough even though i got disqualified.
 to the winners this week!!
:)
