So far my notes on Alfa Romeo Sprint GTA at Cathedral Rocks:
L-F tuning
Springs and Dampers at 1/1, 1/1
TURN 2
tactic A:
I brake really hard at entry and at this point I'm stepping on the gas to boost my line toward really hugging the apex at turn 2(suicide straight attack, very risky to hit the wall).
I let go of the gas a split second and used the "flick" on turn 2 here
...and step on the gas flat-out! 2nd gear comes really clean but highest probability of wheel spin at this point.
tactic B:
I make the opposite.
brake soft at turn 1 and baby my turn for entry at turn 2.I stay very far from the turn 2 apex but the car becomes easily accelerated(almost no risk for spins and less risks for hitting walls.
so far...turn 1 tactic A is faster as I always gain almost a full second at sector 1
HAIRPIN COMBINATION:
tactic A:
Brake hard and as far away as possible at entry.
Baby the car to turn as close as possible to the left side and make the angle as straight as possible.
Tap-tap-tap at 2nd gear(no wheelspin)
Flat-out Gas here and downshift to 1st gear all along tha next turn.
tactic B:
brake at entry apex, and used the handbrake turn.
down to 1st gear until after I see the 3rd turn exit.
so far...hairpin tactic A is faster.
from 2'05.450 I got 2'02.870 but definitely impossible to submit as I overdid the finish line with some sparks.
As I see it, a 2'03.xxx low is possible if only I had more time. But I'm not sure if I even can repeat that. Its just so frustrating to see the big gap for possible time submissions.
