Strange setup Lefty - might give it a run later to see what's what. :)

Here's my 1st sector video for anyone who fancies a look:

I must screw up at least 1 sector :banghead:

34.061
24.918
26.302

Figured I had better find some time for this, seeing as I got edged off the podium in week 59!

It seems that damn squirrel from decisions, decisions snuck into my garage and turned down the power limiter while I was away! I was wondering why my car only had 666 HP, but I figured it was just a copy-paste error in the 1st post...

Will give it another go later, only had a few minutes to try it at lunch and managed a high 32.7 T1 but no good full laps. Enjoy the view at the top for now Chris! :D

I have a small problem. My car shows 709hp (regulations say 708). It has engine stage 3, but no turbo and about 1000 miles. When I try to reduce it (1 tick) I get 707.

Is that (709) allowed? The way I'm driving, I don't think even extra 10hp would make much of a difference. If the 709 is a no-no, I guess I will run with 707.

Edit: Thanks for the clarification. There goes my excuse :(

Power: 708 HP (After Oil Change and Engine Break In - Max Power is fine)

Mine says it too. It's OK

Sometimes you'll see a difference in HP for the same car in two different screens in GT5. The "setup" screen and garage can differ by 1 displayed hp.

My theory is the underlying measure (there are choices for unit of measure you see) results in a fractional component and different modules in the software handle it differently. Rounding versus truncating or differing levels of floating point precision? Just a theory of course.

Just watched your video 👍 super acurate as always.

Compared to my setup the first thing that hits me is all the gear changes. You'll have more time to drive and not shift so it's more laid back and relaxed. The gearing reminds me of an open bore dirt bike VS a 125. With the 125 your always shifting to go faster and w/ the open bore you just hang on and pray

What is active steering guys? for a minute I was thinking asm and then srf but nope it's none of them... what does it do and where is the option for it? new one to me??? so please help a noob :dopey:

Thanks in advance 👍

edit: nice vid Chris, car looks nice and balanced here 👍

I hear ya there Lefty.

I had a big bore KTM 2 stroke back in the day. It spit me off so hard one time (of many) I sold it right quick and went back to a 250.

Your going pretty fast with your 4 speed setup, might have to give it a try myself.

33.018

Missed turn 1, rest not too shabby. Still have a lot of work to do in the last sector though, especially the very last turn.

32.779
24.199
24.806

Not much progress on the full lap, mostly just moving the mistakes around. That left turn right after T1 is incredibly hard for some reason. :dunce:

I had to laugh thinking of all the first / last time on a open bore 2 stroke stories I heard or witnessed.

The only thing I ever felt that accelerated quicker then the 78 RM370B (a factory 4 speed dirt bike) was my 500cc Gawden powerd, alcohol fueled speedway bike and it didn't have any gears  (or brakes) :)

:bowdown::bowdown:

I think you might be crazier than me Lefty, well maybe not.

I also had a wicked fast GSXR-1100 that I almost looped at 130+ cresting a hill into a head wind. Sold that one too.

Good Luk to anyone curious enough to giver a go, It helps if you know how to steer w/ your feet also (lift off overstear and the like). I just love it 👍
Are you refering to Trialbraking like in Dirt Biking? Or dragging you're feet. HA HA

AS is found with the other driving assists and it is an auto counter steer.

I think this will be a long week of small improvements on a track I'm normally slow on and with a car I'm struggling to drive :scared:

33.917
24.895
25.327

I don't envy you, this thing must be a massive handful with the DS3 without lots of assists!

The car is quite a handful, but it's possible to be fast with the DS3 without lots of assists. The only assists I used with this car so far are ABS and automatic transmission, but I'll switch to MT on my next session.

I never used that trick on any scooter I ever raced, thats what the berms were for

I was talking about roatating the car, opening up the rear end by lifting off the brakes :)

------------------------ UPDATE -------------------------------

I just cut me a big ol fat hog w/ my Momentum Rocket, sometimes I can't beleve what I'm doing on the track and usally throw it away, but this time I roostyd the thing home :) "YEEE HAWWW" "BRAZOS"

T1: 33.432
T2: 24.366
T3: 25.173

Can't get on with your gearbox Lefty... I'm still a two-stroke fiend at heart and have a pathological need to be changing gear at least once every couple of seconds. :P You're going well with it though 👍

Nice improvements Jonas. 👍 I can't do a lap without at least two mistakes and am losing 2 tenths every lap through sector 3. Nailing the 1st left in sector 2 quite well though I think...

32.885
23.994
24.974

Having a day's break from this now while I focus on tomorrow's 3D3 race.

Interesting pattern of approximate min speeds of your corners in T1, Chris. 45-65-45-65mph
Easy to remember, and thanks as always for the help! 👍

I tried TCS=1 last night, trying to match my current-posted splits, and it did nothing but give me bad leadfoot habits. I ran that way in the Spa Enduro in the LMP and still feel a little dirty about it. Going back to TCS=0 for future sessions.

I wouldn't feel too guilty with the torque and tire wear on that Pug... I occasionally still dial up TCS 1-3 on the RA to test out how close I can get the pedal control, since the rumble I was used to from the DS3 is gone there, too. I really need to get better with the visual and particularly audio feedback.

Much better.

This is an ultra stable setup. Almost too stable, but it works

Tranny trick and then...

Final: 3200
Top speed (upper right) 204MPH

Camber 2,0/1,5

Full aero, front and rear.

ABS 8
Active steering Strong.

All others off.

Just kept sitting down and having ten ten to fifteen lap sessions throughout the day, and kept getting faster and faster, as I found my rhythm. Pretty gratifying to put up a lap like this after only having the wheel for 2 and a half weeks. Just did 30 laps of racing here a couple weeks ago too, just had to find the line again.

It also helps to be very, very angry with your teenage son, while driving.

I need to tranny trick and play with the gears now and see what I can do. So far I am really liking this combo.

...and you're 2 tenths up on me at the T2 split. 0.15 quicker through sector 2? You sure you've got SRF off and are running the correct specs? If so, my apologies and fair go but this aint an easy combo and you seem to be punching well above your normal weight with those splits.

thank you for the setup BT, I will try it today.

No Problem, but I cant take all of the credit. I listed earlier that I was using praiano's tune. I have tweaked a couple of things to fit me, but credit where credit is due.

Fair enough

Is that with the tune I put up?

How's it feel?

yes it is the tune you put up. It feels great, I could drive that car all day. those time are not final, but I have to work now.
