I wonder why the small bump from minimum downforce. Do you think the DF is not linear (the jump from 150 to 151 is bigger than 151 to 152)?

It does, up to .017 or something. Watch the splits while driving, they'll usually be different.

Ah, I never really thought about it before but when you skip back to the start line on a replay you always see .017 on the clock ...It all makes sense now :P

I have new splits but I'm going to hang on to them instead of continuingly spamming the thread every time I improve lol ...Less wing definitely helps!

Still using stock aero and same bb
Had a 2.6 second gain at the line

Last one for tonight. Found 2,7s at the line with a big mistake at Kallenhard.

BB 4 7, downforce 200 300, 2.150 ahead of my 1.08 time at the line (no rounding, unlike the numbers below :P). Now, if only I could get Carousel right... 💡

The Base Car is even more fun with the adjustable aero. I'm running 330/400 and BB 5/7. It's also faster :D

Edit: That's funny, I too have a delta from 1.08 that is 2.1 seconds.

WARNING: The following is a blatant attempt to cause a lapse of concentration while you compete in this event!

Never noticed this before so not sure it is new with the update or not but if you set the time to 10:00AM for the event when you exit the GP portion and enter the Nordschleife section you will see quite a few of the camp sites have smoke rising up from them. The smoke is actually animated and rising into the air. I swear I could smell the wurst cooking on those grills as I sped past.

If you set the time before or after 10:00AM, you won't see it. Not sure about setting the time around dinner time but might be worth checking out. Who knows what they'll be cooking then!

I saw it at earlier, think it was default time; 5pm

PLEASE READ:

Anyone who bought the BRZ GT300 before Ver. 1.09 is at risk of having their laps rejected by Fetchy for setup infringements regarding camber. I just noticed that hitting the new 'restore settings' changed my camber settings, even though I was on setup 'C' which I had definitely never tampered with before.

You must select this option or you will get this message from Fetchy:

Submission for week 22 is REJECTED!

Errors:
CamberFront setting is invalid
CamberRear setting is invalid
ToeFront setting is invalid
ToeRear setting is invalid

Please make sure to attach a valid Gran Turismo replay, as described on the forums.

You can create a new conversation with the attached replay(s).

Boo ...I bet I'll be slower now :nervous:

EDIT:

Ok, sorry, I missed this part...

  • Since it's a Garage Car (vs Courtesy Car) you can now adjust Brake Balance, and you can also adjust front and rear Aero. All other settings should be stock - Use the new "Reset to Default" button to make sure any changes on existing cars are reset.

Maybe someone else did too though... :dunce:

Never hurts to remind people in situations like this. 👍

Guess I was wrong when I stated we'll all be slower with the change to the Base Model and 1.09. :dunce:

Apparently reading is very hard for me :banghead::banghead::banghead: I did this too...

Who at PD makes these rediculous setups? -0.50 and +1.00 toe? Damn, this does take out the fun in the BRZ.

Just threw away a 4'46 with the correct settings. Adjust aero to 350/300. BB to 5/8.

I'm taking a break.

I bought a brand new car in 1.09, didn't hit the reset button, assume this is OK

My third clean lap in the new car. I think the aero I set to 245/400 but suspect I may have to lower it a little more - @PASM How do you manage to go so quick with high front aero? When I tried higher front aero of 350+ I was much, much slower due to the huge drag and low power.

Maybe just under 4'50 is possible, but I'm an average Joe here - I think I know the track reasonably well, but I'm never brave enough or committed enough or consistent enough

EDIT: Argh, rear aero was meant to be lower, balls.

First splits for version 1.09. Lets see where i land.

It's a function of being able to change the oil and getting the power boost from that.

Ok, that explains the fact I didn't end up closer to the top of the LB despite being "special".

Just wondering, was an extension of the deadline considered?

EDIT: the split times seem to correspond to frame times. Since there are 60 frames per second, they should end in either .x00, .x17, .x33, .x50, .x67 or .x83. Why they don't always end in exactly those numbers, I don't know... but when they don't they seem to be pretty close (most if not all of the time).

Yes, but it seemed to us it wasn't a big enough change in the combo to endure the possible downsides of trying to do a non-standard deadline. We had to make a decision fast without input from Joost, who usually needs some advance notice when we start getting *crazy*. :)

Time to get rid of those pesky special splits.

BB 5/8 as suggested by Bart, and minimum aero. Had a lap with a 4'52.794 T9 with same BB and default aero, but 1.5s slower at the line... I'll keep trying different aero settings as suggested by people.

There is a small pocket of hatred in my love of the Nordschleife, and it's called Eiskurve. It's the first left after Brünnchen, and if anyone can give me tips on how to approach it, I would be very grateful.

Take a slightly later apex and hold 4th gear with 50% throttle and slight trail brake if needed for rotation for eiskurve to avoid the kerb I've flipped the car a few times here and you will carry the speed to the fast right hander

Yeah, that uphill exit on to the flat-out Pflanzgarten is good to hit right. ;)👍

Ok. I think I'm done for the day. Terrible GP section but the rest of the lap is ok.
