GTP_WRS Week 22 : The Grip Sensei Returns (changes made for v1.09)

I've tried and tried and tried again but I just can't complete a full lap of the track without spinning out at some point. I'll keep trying though.

A bit slow on the GP track but it really came together in the "green hell".
Seven out of nine splits ending in 23!

But i was going to post my first "suitable" lap, with default aero and bb setts. Have to try change something and see what happens by myself cause I see very different approches from my friends here ...

There is lotst of time lost on track it looked if I were sightseeing on the track.
But there is so much to see.
 
Some better splits.. some worse.. however over a second up at the line.. ran this with minimum DF and 2/6 BB..

So then, downforce fans, totally min DF? A little on the front? Moderate front, low rear? Which is best!
 
Minimal downforce works well for me. The car is well balanced. I won't be adding rear downforce now that I see how fast it runs on straights. But I might try 200/300 just for giggles.
 
Got rid of the speedo (this hinders me at one location only) and some of the downforce. Still 2.6 s behind Mk I, but the lap has at least two prominent flaws. The gears on this car are not helpful in those "3rd/4th" corners after Caracciola which I don't seem to learn.

I find I need first gear in the first sector. I don't know if it is because of the lower front downforce.

I had maxim DF to start.. then medium.. & now using minimum.. the car has excellent grip.. and is faster on the long straights.. I'm slowly getting faster lap times..


New splits.. 1st 3 slower.. next 6 faster.. almost a second up at the line

The low downforce makes the karussell tricky. It also feels a bit twitchy in the section you are describing.
There are only two turns where I drop to 3rd between the two karussells. And both of these can be probably taken in 4th: Hedwigshohe and Eiskurve. For example the right-left-right at the beginning of the Wippermann section can be taken in 5th but I have to lift a bit when running low downforce.
 
I am using 250/335

On Lower DF the gains are small, but the car gets a bit twitchy and not as sharp and I lose a bit of confidence to push, so gone back to that.

Had a massive powerslide in Bergwerk which made me **** my pants, ruined a decent first part of the lap - rest was great until that stupid left/right before the straight, I've crashed a few times there so I slowed way down and probably sacrified .250 or more just to complete the lap...stupid track!!

I think the part I hate the most is that downhill left with a huge cobble run off and armco right next to it, followed by a narrow, bumpy right hander, uphill, which has huge kerbs either side - that part is pure evil.

Caroussel and Mini caroussel are also really unforgiving, have to be so careful.

This is a great combo, but I dunno if I'll get another chance so this might be my lot :'(

I've noticed that 'Fetchy' never picked up my last splits above.. As I've gone a little faster I'll see if he picks these up..

Had a two hour slot tonight after getting back from holiday. But lo and behold, another update.
Managed 2 clean laps, lots of spins and gave up after I crossed the line in front of my ghost.

More time to be gained in lots of places. Too cautious. Wanted to actually get to the line. Can match the top time in t1, had a 22.2xx, and then caught the inside kerb at the hairpin. D'oh!

Trying hard not to restart early in the lap, there's so much time to loose or gain that being half a second behind your ghost doesn't mean the lap will be worse. Will keep trying to put my best sectors together

Ok lap - touched grass at the top of Flugplatz and had a little tank slapper which compromised the run to T6, and made a few other errors as well around the lap. Reckon another second or so out there, but this is a good banker :cheers:

I'm happy with the progress. Still a lot of work to do but little time left. With aero at 200/450 and bb 5/4 and my right shoulder is not ok
