LanEvo wouldn't be crap without sims. A slicks drifter can adust to less traction within seconds, but it would take some time to adust from little traction to lots more traction. I have tried sims, it was to freaking easy, I adusted almost right away. It is actually easier than easy. Slicks is a challenge.

no... a sims drifter can drift anything... i can drift on sims... slicks... and anything up to t8's with the same hp as long as the car is light and well balanced... what freaking car did you use to adjust immediately...

if you can control a car with a lower friction coefficient on its tires... hte subtleties you develop will aid in drifting or racing with grippier tires... initiating a loss of traction is not hard... its called oversteer... its controlling the drift that establishes real exhibition skill... and at the same time gives way to the ability for fantastic racing drifts...

if you are interested in racing drifts 260z... come to drift faster than grip... give your input... and join the challenge that will be coming soon...

I tried once sim tyres, first the LanEvo's impreza, and I liked very much, the drift was slighty slower than with slicks, and then I tried a Supra (rwd) and I found that losing grip was far too easy but the exiting was the opposite (far too difficult), but with a half an hour of practice I could hold the supra doing pretty large drifts, but I like much more the slick tyres.
I respect sim tyres drifters, but easy-difficult tyres there's no one, it only takes practice to convert a difficult thing in an easy thing.

No disrespect, but slicks are no harder than any other tire. I did my exhibition on sims, and my racing on softs. Don't talk to me about speed until you're on at least mediums =)

Besides it is more impressive if you can out drift a person when your car has more traction because you are fighting to break traction so that needs more talent, get it? Slicks are much faster, plain and simple.

I really don't like where this is going. Take it outside if you must but the sticky VS sim tires has been done way too many times with no result whatsoever; this is really not the place to have it agian. It's a stupid topic so drop it.

How are the scores for the different events determined?

It's all about style. Lap times are not taken into account. In the solo drift, for a high score, you need to have the car sliding for the whole lap, even on the straights. You lose points if you spin the car, so the idea is to look as out of control as possible without actually losing it. Smoke and noise are taken into account too. A technique that I use is to start really smoking the tyres mid-drift, half way through a corner.

this is a quote from autospeed.com, and this is how our competitions are judged as well. if you are using slicks for the sheer reason to go faster, you are wasting your time. in drift..lap times mean didly squat. if you go faster, you'll just spend less time drifting and your video will be too short. :p

and i used medium soft slicks in a drift competition once, so any tire does not affect my drifting skills.

I like a combination of both, I like to put sticky tires on the front, and sims, or harder tires on the rear. I find the car able to hold it's line better with the sticky tires on the front. You are also more liable to spin out with this configuation, but once you get use to it, you can go through corners at higher speeds without your car sliding to the outside of the corner

i think a good way to kinda end the tire debate is that it doesnt matter what tires you use or learn on... a good drifter can drift almost any car on almost anytires...

CudaMan, you got lucky :p
Sorry about that. :) Must have misunderstood the rules, I thought only 4 corners were needed for the pro drift. I threw that last part in there because I liked it, tried to make the switch somewhat seamless but it didn't quite work. Good to see you guys are watching the videos with an eye for detail.

Not like it was the 360 that won, anyway, it was pure skill =) Congrats Cuda! You own me... FOR NOW... bwahahaha

I highly recommend Kamui D's FC video. The excessive brightness and soft focus makes it look like drifting into heaven ;) And the music has the equal length of a lap, very impressive.

pergatory's was great as well as CudaMan's also :D

Kamui D's video was good with the video editing, but his drifts could be improved and some more style could be in there.

i really liked the music and film effects, but like thio said he needs some practice...from the last drift vid kamui produced he has improved a lot ;)

Dang, I just found the OTHER civic drifting vid! Jeez... It had better control and style but less angle. In that one, I actually chained the corners together. Crapola, I guess you'll have to see it in my eventual music vid.

do not ? the judges... leave the judging to them and all will be peaceful... welcome... do you say hella like me???

I guess I have to work on that angle; I seemed to lose a lot of points there. But I don't see how I can make the car more controlled... Humm what criteria are the judges looking for in control?

I think the biggest piece in control is the line that you take. The other factor I assume is probably how early you obtain your drift angle and how steady you hold it through the drift, and how clean your exit is.

I tend to try and start my drifts as early as possible, I have worked on that a lot more than angle. Well I think all my exits were very tight.

Perg, and Cudaman I have pretty much hit a wall in drifting and I really don't know where to go from here. From my vid what do you guys think I can do to make it better.

I liked your video, I thought it was good. Lots of tough competition this month. I think the only thing I could really suggest is stuff you're probably already aware of -- for example your line through the sharp turn near the beginning.

I really liked the music too! Have you listened to Symphony X? I think you'd like them. They absolutely rule.
