this may be a dumb question - but when Sony releases the "control your BSpec from your computer" update, will it involve any sort of flash? Or will it be able to run on an IPad?

Thanks in advance...

Wow Jordan, this is quite unexpected. A fully featured dedicated forum reader! This must have been quite a lot of work. The first version has a lot of features and already is an universal app too. Well done. I guess we're colleagues now :)

This is my first post with it and it works quite nicely. The use of push notifications will give it the edge over the web version, I think.

I sure hope so... And I expect PD to follow the example of GTPlanet and launch an excelent (and free) app to manage the bobs.

Downloading the App to my Iphone as I type this. Cool another way to access the forums when I'm not at work! Accessing the forums through the browser on the Iphone was a pain. Can't wait to try the App. Thanks Jordan!

Good job on the app. One question, I have premium membership and still have the ads visible. Will it remain this way? Thanks.

Just testing this out.

Yeah I can still see the ads as well.

Is there any advantage to using the app over just mobile safari?

I am not seeing any adds.
There seems to be two ways of viewing forums. Forum tab at bottom and one from link in tip right corner of page , this one shows as a web page and had adds showing I assume because my login was still in progress as soon as I refreshed they were gone.

Wow, that was fast, PLobo. How did you find it so quickly? The iOS app is actually a little rough around the edges at the moment, so I wasn't going to officially announce it until the next version is available in another week or so. Regardless, all of the functionality is there and working, so you are welcome to start using it now if you like.

Thanks Calcifer, though I wish I could take more credit for it. The forum features are actually built around a customized version of the Forum Runner platform, so the app can hit the ground running with a lot of functionality out of the box. As mentioned above, the next version will be a bit more polished as there are some things I overlooked. Waiting for App Store approval can be a real bummer. :indiff:

It's just supposed to make the site faster, easier, and more accessible from your touch-based Apple and Android devices.

Premium users should not see any ads in the app, so long as they are logged into their account (just as it is on the full version of the site).

As I mentioned above, you guys found this quite a bit earlier than I expected, so some things were out of place - especially for iPad users. If you take another look now you should see only one way to access the forums (in the tab at the bottom).

Very nice app. 👍 Did waiting for approval really take a long time? I usually get my apps and updates approved within a few days. :)

The ads I saw was just on the mobile version of the news page.

They appear when viewing it in safari on my iPod as well. They go once I change the theme to the full version.

About a week and a half. I just meant to say it's unsettling you can't push updates out immediately. As a web developer, I'm spoiled.

Oh, yes, those are still there. Not sure if I'll be able to remove them for Premium users, but I can take a look.

I can't moderate with the iOS app. :(
No, you can't issue warnings or infractions yet, but you can open/close/move threads and ban users.

Well, it was a combination of luck and appshopper. I was checking the new apps, and found yours. I honestly was thinking of writing a "happy birthday" comment, on you 10th birthday post, and suggesting a Ipad app. But you were really fast, not me! And did a great work, also.

Jordan, why don't you consider the possibility of making a sort of "library" of the cars, where we could have basic information and post photos, tunings, for each car? I could even pay for such premium content (not much of couse :P).

That's cool, perhaps it is a "small world" (or, web) after all. :) The other site features you've described are all on my to-do list, but it takes me a lot of time and money to put these sorts of things together and, as you mentioned, it's not really worth anything to most people.

Jordan, some feedback after 5 days of use:

Your app is trully great!

Sometimes (rarely) shuts down. It's not particularly bad, because you just have to open it again, it will be in the same place it was before crashing.

One thing that I couldn't do very well was copying a link from a post, and pasting it later on another topic. It's almost irrelevant, but it doesn't hurt to give you the feedback, right? Maybe if it was possible to open the link in safari, and the problem could be solved? It's only a suggestion, perhaps it's not that easy to solve. Has I mentioned, the app is very good, and you've done a fantastic work!

Loving this app so far Jordan.

It's good to be able to quote replies quickly, see avatars and see thread previews.

Just a couple of issues though;

When I click a thread I've not read yet, it'll jump to half way down the page or maybe page 6 of 7 for example rather than from the beginning (I've got the settings to go to first unread post BTW)

Is there a way you could make the bar at the bottom smaller or maybe a double tap to make it pop up? After using FullScreen Browser for my IPhone, it can sometimes feel a little cluttered in landscape mode.

Emoticons not showing up.

Otherwise a great app which I'm sure I'll use over the mobile site version. Thanks for this Jordan 👍

EDIT. Just read in the update section of the app that to see emoticons you have to tap the message.

This is great! I always had trouble (though, it never stopped me) viewing the forums on mobile Safari. It was way too tedious. Thanks Jordan! :)

Quick question - How do you access visitor messages, or is that on the next/upcoming version?

If you have that option set, it shouldn't take you to the beginning of the beginning of the thread.

I'm not sure if visitor messages will ever be supported. As I mentioned earlier, the forum section of the app is powered by the Forum Runner platform, and I don't have the ability to modify any of that code with license that I purchased for the software. As such, you guys are welcome to share your ideas on how to improve the app but the most I can do is pass along the suggestions, and without charging for this app I cannot afford to pay for more customizations.

I figured that, so it's understandable. I was just merely curious. It doesn't change the fact of how awesome the app is. I used it a lot at work last night, and everything was tip-top. I won't have to bring my awful laptop with me anymore. Thanks again! :D

I love the app, I'm writing this from my iPod touch right now. It's so much easier to use than trying to use safari.

I've just downloaded the update for the iphone version and it seems massively faster loading embedded images which was a bit of a pain before. Good work 👍

Hey an iPhone app!!! I need to get downloading!! Nice one Jordan 👍

Kudos to the creator, I love the GTPlanet app for iPhone.

I currently subscribe to threads and receive updates via e-mail when they are updated, how does Forum Runner push notifications differ from this?
