great race that was! thanks jav for hosting this!

You have to drive the Jetta extremly smooth and ull see how easy that car is to drive :)

Jav
Man you were doing pretty good on the opening laps!

You need to settle into a rythm and be smooth on the wheel.

Great race guys! Here's the results from today's pre-season session:

Yea I was doing good at the beginning, then I lost my rhythm and it all went down hill.

I really wish we could tune these cars.

Thanks again Jav for hosting 👍

P.S. who ever I bumped into in one of the turns, sorry. I think it was the guy with the "Oakly" car

I think the Jetta is very much no throttle in corners, for me at least. brake turn squirt as such. :D

yea I thought that too, but then I see people hauling thru the turns almost full throttle.

When in IRACING will I be able to tune my cars??

Great race today. Couldn't get into the 10's, but I'm happy with how I ran. Hope I can fix this loose in condition with some tips from Curtis(thanks dude:tup:). So, next week is the first big race? Need to start running some laps.

I feel your pain to an extent. Plenty of cars to tune once out of the rookie classes. The Jetta is supposed to be a strict class of spec racing so its driver vs. driver. I've found that running many laps and experimenting with different lines and driving styles out weighs your car set-up to a point. If you are not making smooth laps theres probably not going to be a car set-up to magically fix that. I guess what I'm saying is changing the car set-up without really knowing if the car is pushing/loose throughout the whole lap may further compomise the lap times. I found this out in the Mustang till I finally got it and now its one of my favorite cars and I'm pretty quick in it to boot.

I don't like racing FF cars, but its starting to become more fun. Takes a whole other train of thought and style to go quickly. Very challenging to say the least. Who knew a low powered car could be one of the toughest to drive competitively. Probably by the end of the season I'll love this little Jetta.

For me is the exact opposite, brake and turn while accelerating out of the corner.

There will be a time when you will regret saying this!

Man I had a 10 going on the last 2 laps but would screw it up on the brakes at some point! The race was a lot of fun, looking forward to our season start!!

And as always, if anyone wants it jsut ask and I'll share!

Ok folks lets get ready for some build up! I shall be posting the first official race thread later this evening with the expected entry list, race start and so on.

Make a note of your car numbers also so I can make a nice organised entry list. No one for number 1 though :p thats reserved for champions, and as we don't have one yet!

Likewise, if you have a custom livery nows your time to post it up for people to download to see it whilst racing.

Nice!

can we put in a request for car numbers here, too? If so, I will be running with car# 64.
:)

I'll be #18

What do you mean "people to download it to see whilst racing"?? I thought when I put it on my car everyone can see it? I am so confused with IRACING still, I have a lot to learn

I have the Pittsburgh Penguins car (thanks to JAV)

Everyone in the race needs to have your livery in their folder for it to show up, its done on customer ID.

e.g.
My custom ID is 69757, so when I save my livery or have chosen my livery to use, I save it as that, 69757. Goes in the paint folder etc so I see it on my car. You also need that file named 69757 (my ID) in your paint folder for you to see it on my car while racing, if you dont have it you will see my standard livery made in the iracing browser livery maker, not the custom one.

Hopefully I explained that ok.

but I've seen others peoples custom paint and I don't have there ID number saved. That is kind of stupid how that works

I used tradingpaints.

but what I got out of his post is, other people have to load my number to see my paint while in the race.

I can see your paint just fine Jeff, but you need to subscribe to all the cars you want to see in tradingpaints to be able to see them on the sim. On Sunday you couldn't see my paint you only saw the iRacing paint.(blue oakley car)

so I have to do it one by one, or is there a option to "see all" ?

I don't know what you mean, just go to your tradingpaints desktop and click on options > > > > subscriptions select the cars you want to see custom paints on and the program does the rest for you!

very cool! vid

for the most part it seemed like a professional and courteous race!

haha I like your '?' and '!' comments at the illegal blocking by that orange car seen at ~3:00.
One thing that I strongly encourage should be done for this new series is to list strict penalties for such poor and illegal behaviour as seen in the vid to discourage such behaviour! points taken away, DNF for illegal activity, or something else. and Mildasher or perhaps panel of several racers (selected by Mildasher? chosen at random? etc, I would volunteer to serve on such a panel) should be appointed to review any protests within the series (of course the persons involved in protest could not serve on such a panel).
food for thought...
:)

Should also mention that you have to Upload it to TradingPaints.com if you want others to see it.

He's got it on trading paints because I could see his paint, but I don't think he's subscribed to the Jetta because he couldn't see mine...

Man if only those Jettas made a good solid 10,000 RPM screaming sound!!!
