Hey everybody, sorry for not showing myself for a long time. Busy trying to buy a 1:1 working model of a car :lol:
@Niku Driver HC congrats on the Alpine. It's the details that did it for me, from the triple screen to the small aero-piece on the inner rear side.
As for LookSmart models, I've seen some of them in a model shop in Maranello and boy are they amazing. Even more with openable doors & hood.

Fixed a few things to help you out (and because my inner languages man gets in the way sometimes). Also, isn't that funny, I am also looking for a working 1:1 scale model (as most people here are, I bet), haha. :lol:
As for the Alpine, thanks, it really is a well-detailed car when it comes to the smaller parts. The only thing really missing are the moving brake flaps, but Norev did make a few creases around that area to let people know where they appear in the car, which is nice enough. It stays true to its design, has all the right decals in the right places and is the most affordable Vision Gran Turismo scale model which (your) money can buy. It ticks a lot of good boxes, in my opinion. 👍
Regarding LookSmart, I do not deny that they are probably greater detailed than anything that Norev has produced, but the prices are a bit cumbersome to manage to me. Mind you, they are great additions to your collection if you can stomach their prices...
 
Issue 2 of the F1 car collection thingy is out and it's Lauda's '77 Ferrari.

All I need to do is not be lazy and go get it.

I just realized that the model has Rothmans decals...but the "racing" decal has been applied over it.

Any chance to have a 1:18 VGT Mazda LM55? :lol:
I want to apply to the VGT owner club but I don't collect 1:43 anymore :scared:

I knew that, I was complaining about how stupid this system is, aside of the advertisement (I DON'T EVEN SMOKE :p) that's a double waste of decal, first, you can completely avoid the tobacco logo since you are not allowed use it, second you can leave the plain livery,#1 has no "racing" at all...then leave the option to apply the decal or not
Rothmans is still readable...LOL

I'm a bit irritated at some eBay sellers right now. I had bid on a model on eBay and had set a maximum price as it ended in the middle of the night for me and I wasn't going to be awake to watch it. In the end, I got "outbid" by someone with virtually no feedback. Fine, whatevs. But shortly after the auction ended, I got a message from the seller saying that the previous high bid has been retracted and I got a "second chance offer". Looking at the bid history as well as some of that retracted bidder's statistics, it's pretty suspicious that that account is used to do shill bidding. That retracted bidder repeatedly bid in order to drive it all the way up to the max that I put down, and that bidder has 20 retracted bids in the past 30 days and almost 40 in the past 60 days. Half of his bids ended up being retracted.

It's still a little better price than what I would typically see for that model, but I'm suspicious of the bidding process and I don't want to be suckered into what just feels fraudulent to me.

Fishy, dude. Personally, I may pass on the deal, or haggle the seller. I would also report this trend with the low feedback account to eBay. Even if eBay don't do much with it, it may at least go on their record.

I once had this crafty flake back out of the bid by outbidding herself using a dummy account(zero feedback, brand new account). Since then, my eBay listings are blocked from any account not linked to PayPal.

I've been tempted to buy from eBay on numerous occasions, but I don't think I will have to now after learning of another web store that is based in Canada. International purchases have burned my wallet harder and harder as the CAD falls lower and lower.

Hmm, nice 500E. Subtle yet sporty, those aren't necessarily poster material, but the model itself seems very accurate and good on the eyes. In the end, if it ticks those boxes, I'd say that's good enough.

Also, is that a yellow, Pennzoil-sponsored Venturi you got between the Lotus Elise GT1 (?) and the Panoz Esperante in the second picture? I don't recall seeing that one before...

Well that Benz works for me because it is more or less a sleeper, and I have a thing for fast sedans that look somewhat normal :sly:
And while that Yellow car isn't Pennzoil sponsored, it is indeed a Venturi. I got it last year I think when I went nuts with 1/43's.

Also, soon it will be time for my yearly total pic. Pretty sure this year has been my best year with 1/18 models ever :dopey:

Hey, ain't disagreeing with that, I'm also a sucker for perfomance sedan Q-cars; comfort + ability to wreck autobahns + understated designs; it's the right combination in my book. :sly:
So it's a Spark-made 1:43 Venturi, huh? Nice, never really seen many Venturi scale models, and I wonder if there are road car versions laying around...

And that year will also be the worst year for your wallet! :dopey: :lol: But yes, just with that smexy AUTOart tuned Hakosuka Skyline, 2015 should be considered as a win in your mind.

Universal Hobbies, got it for 30€ at my local shop.
The model looks good but despite it says "openable parts" it does not have openable parts :irked:

I ended up paying $188 for it after shipping, which is a good amount less than the cheapest AUTOart F1 LM I could find anyway. Though, I did pre-order it like 2 years ago.... :crazy:
Anyway I love it, even though it has a couple inaccuracies, namely the left side intake (which is only present on actual F1 GTR's, not F1 LM's) and the rear tire profile. Interior and engine more than make up for it IMO.

First, the model looks stunning, second I have to ask...how many models you got?
Last time at university I was talking about my model cars with a group of girls (I wasn't expecting such a BIG interest from the opposite sex in this kind of collection...and it's not even the one and only girl I know) and one of them asked how many models I got, he was amazed about my numbers but I told her I knew much much bigger collections and I was thinking about yours!
