Found a Motormax 1:18 lexus LS430 on ebay, for around 56$, it's a pearl white which seems to be an earlier re release, but still alot better then the old metalic silver one i had back in the day, the one thing that i love, is that for a budget model, it can easily be converted to premium status, upon first arriving, the interior...is extremely poor. however it does feature opening doors(all 4) and windows, the casting appears to have been cleaned up from the prior release aswell and that pearl white is gorgeous, seriously close to my Aa R34 GTR pearl white. so this is sort of a review and overview.

Overall the casting looks perfect, the side windows and details really make this look like an autoart, Really premium looking exterior like my Autoart GS400.

I'm a Big fan of big Japanese Bippu sedans, so the Lexus LS430(Toyota Celsior) is one of my favorites.

Sadly, the Exterior is the only good thing about this model, as the interior is just...Horribad?

so lifeless and dull, and laughably bad painted "Wood" it's not bad. but certainly very cheap looking.

Also no detail on the buttons, or anything, i will give them the separate painted dash board. that could've been beige aswell.

So i wanted to change that, and give this car the full premium conversion.

First, i resprayed the cheap looking beige paint with a Model Masters premium soft tan, came out extremely well, looks very smooth and similar to the tan materal in the actual car.

I was finally able to use my air brush again. it's a Testors Kit, i typically only use Testors, Tamiya and Model masters products.

All the buttons have been detailed, carpet added, the "wood" is Tamiya matte finish wood paint mixed with a brown sharpie to give it grain look, Came out super well, it took a while but i achieved the look i wanted. i benched mark this car using my Aa GS400. infact.

I really love how the interior came out.

I like how the carpet encloses the seats, i also went with Gray felt(An option in the JDM Toyota Celsior) with tan interior trim. which i think looks way better then the All tan setup in the Lexus LS430 usdm spec.

i also redid this headlight. depegged and detailed, same for the Tailights. paint used (Tamiya Clear Turn Signal Orange)

Overall a nice convert, significantly increased the value of the model overall. and sits very nicely in my collection.

Thanks for viewing.

Bippu, like VIP? Personally, I don't consider this car a VIP(though I think modern Nissan President is same class), but that's just me. This LS is one of my favorites, and I love the detailing you gave it. 👍👍
Just dropped by the AUTOart store here in HK:

Super cool, but I was looking under the AUTOart sign, which reminded me of restaurants in Japan........ It's a Japanese ramen shop! AUTOart & ramen, I could not love this location more. Impossiburu.👍

Chaparral 2E (my favorite car)

I think it should be policy that anyone who buys a CMC or Exoto must post at least 10 detailed shots of the engine, interior and other components of the finest details.

Also, have a facebook-quality photo:

Only took two and a half decades to post-edit.

Edit: Snap. Forgot to cover up that scratch on the bumper corner.

Wow. The first thing I'm forced to do when I receive a model is to fix the steering rack...

bTLZy62l.jpg

The product itself was defective. The steering rack was too short so the front wheels had a nasty toe-out setup. I took a lighter and attempted to stretch the rack a bit longer to fix this, but I ended up separating the two apart, so now I'm joining them back together with an external piece of plastic.

Thankfully though, this UT does not have melted wheels!

On the outside the presentation of the product is just fine, but when you take things apart, you can see how lousy they were with the inside. The trunk on this thing is plastic. The front bumper is plastic.

Edit: @Venom800tt

Is this the preview image you got when you preorderd the black NSX?

160 units to be produced.

I just found a site with quite a list of models in the making, currently available and out of production, and how limited they are. Found this guy:

180 units to be produced.

0000000182322.jpg

160 units to be produced.

180 units to be produced.

The Fairlady (with TE37s) had only 220 produced, the R32 had only 160 units, and the Hakosuka (with Watanabes) had 240 units produced.

Scarcity is a very attractive feat for me with these things.

Despite having a eBay account for several years, I never actually got into an auction. Found a blue 1:18 IS300 that seemed reasonable. Hopefully winning it tomorrow. It doesn't match my car, but it is my ideal colored 1st generation IS300. :D

(From the looks of the awful eBay photo, it has the black interior, which is fine by me. But I prefer the beige)

Also looking at an auction for the AutoArt 1/18 Lexus GS400. Do you guys know if there is a Millenium Silver (There's two silvers of the 2nd gen) color for it? It's hard to tell from the pictures I'm seeing.

@AOS- Yep, that is the black NSX I have pre-ordered. Who knows when it will be released though lol...

@MedigoFlame I'd pay $80 for that IS300, so I don't think it is a bad price. Still a nice model even by today's standards anyway.

Ended up getting it. Excited to get my first 1/18 Autoart and it being a 1st gen IS300. Still can't help but wish my real IS300 was blue with a tan interior.

Don't worry, after you get one AA, another one will follow shortly. Then another. Then another.....

I'm already on that. As of today, I've got 2 AA Subarus and a preordered BAC Mono.

*screams like a girl*

Was this released in 2001? Please say it is so. My seller did a fantastic job maintaining the box. No tears, no shelf wear, no peeling glue, nothing. The WRC Impreza and Repsol on the other hand have seen better days.

Apparently it was indeed released in 2001. That was back when AA's were cheap and plentiful... good times, good times....

With great quality comes great price increases, it seems... The X2014 has the sort of quality feel that only AutoArt can offer, but boy must that price tag sting when you pull out that wallet. They are on a roll, yes, but they could make that roll a bit more friendly sometimes...

So like, I had ended up cancelling one of my pre-orders (GT Spirit Koenig Competition Evolution) due to lack of money when payment was due lol... But now, I have pre-ordered two new GT Spirits due in January and February to redeem myself (Still might get the Koenig if I can find it later)...

Also had to pay for one of the 1/43 Ignitions I had pre-ordered, a red Datsun Bluebird Coupe on Wantanabes. Should be here sometime next week.
