I don't want to be mean, I've heard the high cost of Exoto's replacement, but to be honest, I want to take advantage of this situation withouth being a cheap b**tard.

It's not the high cost it's just they are a pain to deal with one issue I had with them took nearly 2 months to resolve.

Me personally I would be looking at like for like, if something was damaged and I had attempted to fix it it would still annoy me as I would know it's there.

So what I can see (which is not a lot) you have one paint chip in front of the "8" and to me it looks like a rubber hose has come off the brass part seen on the wheel side. (Perhaps something you can fix)
Does he have an exact replacement?
Do you want a perfect condition one or can you live with the chip?
What would you find acceptable as a refund (and give him a good score) 10%, 20%, 80%?

Those are just 3 questions you'll need to answer for yourself.

Discount on future model from him - hmmm - how to guarantee he'll remember? And how certain are you you will buy from him again...

Once you figure out the answers to that contact the seller to discuss.

The Steering system is completely broken, it doesn't steer with the wheel but "manually" it still works.
The front glass is unglued from one side but that's pretty much irrilevant.
Aside from the paint chip near the 8 and on the last photo there's a little handle (broken and without paint) on the front of the car.
I can fix the rubber hose and the hubcap on one of the wheels (there's the missing part inside the box).
He does not have a replacement or any other Exoto in stock, just CMCs, but I don't like the tipo 500 F2 of this company, the ONLY car I want to buy from CMC is the 312P Berlinetta.
I'm quite ok with those imperfections, I can glue the suspension and the rubber hose, I will not playing with it so I don't care too much about the steering wheel. The only thing that bugs me it's the paint chip on the front.
I would be happy if I get 100€ back, since I won the auction for a "used but minty" model for 240€.
Would still looks great once exposed, but I'm a bit angry with the seller.
Does 100€ sound honest to you?

So, just to recap, I want to contact the seller to get the best partial refund I can have.
 
There's no answer I can give that would be ok, only the seller can give that. So give it a try, remember keep civil and be nice as you catch more flies with honey than.... even if you're angry with him atm.
 
Are you sure he's a professional seller? Looks like someone selling off a collection?

Worth asking but I'd be surprised if he knocks that much off it as you did get it for almost 200€ less than the going rate.

The guy has a store in Milan, selling models from private collections.
I talked with him two hours ago I was calm and cool, I'm just disappointed since on the Ascari's model he was selling he clearly specified "light scratch on the bonnet". While this one has much serious issues.
I'll contact him via eBay asking for "how much for a partial refund?" He will lose 20€ anyway for the shipping costs.
 
If you want to maximize your refund, don't give him the option to choose freely. Don't offer a speicify number either or else that gives off the impression of greed. What do you feel is fair for both of you?

Word your message in a way that can influence him to seek whole-hearted customer satisfaction, and let him decide the number himself. The more he can feel guilty, the better, since you aren't the one deciding the numbers and him being the one who's trying his best not to have an unhappy customer.

I dont condone folks making up false/exaggerated stories though. Best of luck :)

Yep, I asked him how much he would give me as partial refund, I asked for this solution since he would lose 20€ of shipping in case I want the full refound, plus there's a risk to do more damage on the model and that's not a good thing either for him.
If he accepts, I'll leave a positive feedback withouth mentioning the refound thinghy (a negative or even neutral feed is a good weapon to use against those little sellers, if eBay does give you the ammo, why not use it?).
If he goes cheap I'll try to raise the price since Exoto models are expensive ro repair and blablabla (that's ture...I mean, I don't care about it that much but the steering system is completely messed up!!).
In case the partial will be lower than 75€ then I guess I'll go for the full refund.

NEED HELP GUYS!
So, I got this Ferrari 500 F2 Exoto, bought at 240€ (270$, 178£) (eBay, via paypal, professional seller)
Listed as used but withouth imperfections, the steering is broken and you can clearly see those missing paint chips.
Now the seller wants to full refund me BEFORE I ship the model back to him.
But I want to keep the model (c'mon it's an Exoto and it looks still gorgeous) so I was thinking about some other options:
Keep the model and ask for a partial refund (but...how much?)
Keep the model and receive another one or add a bit on the difference so it's basically like getting a discount on another purchase.
What do you suggest, and how much would be big this refund?

Since he tried to push me a bit far on the offer and I don't think keeping a damage model is a good idea (I mean I do care about the value, if sometimes happens and I really need to resell this a damaged one is much much harder to resell)
So I asked for the full refund again, and I hope to get my hands on the Ferrari 312 T4 of Gilles Villeneuve, LIKE NEW this time :lol:

The GT Spirit 1M is fantastic, as usual. The wheels seem slightly big, but proportions and details otherwise are spot on. Paint is also gorgeous, and a very good reproduction of the factory Valencia Orange.

On the other hand, I’m kinda disappointed by the Spark models. Paint overall is kinda meh. The Peugeot 905 has a side skirt that’s fallen off and that I need to reglue, and the wheels are so stiff that it doesn’t even turn. The Toyota TS030 had a vertical fin element that was loose. The only one that came out good was the Ford GT40, but I expect that; that car is so simple in shape compared to modern Le Mans racers. I wish other model companies would do more Le Mans cars rather than leaving the market to Spark.

AutoART should be the one to make diecast Le Mans models. I have no idea why they do not participate in this market as everyone really wants to collect Le Mans racers (God, I beg of you, a 1:18 Toyota TS010), but apparently AutoART is more occupied releasing 150 versions of a Murcielago, Veyron, and Koenigsegg.

I'm ok with not opening doors and engine covers, but all my other resins at least spin the wheels. It would be nice for AutoArt to do Le Mans models again, though they would be hardly better than resins since they've all been sealed for Le Mans prototype racers post-2000.

Don't know if this is the right thread to post it but kyosho has a new shell for their Mini-Z RC series and it's quite interesting:

That reminds me, I still need to obtain one of those....

And that Kyosho Mini Z is definitely a fully licensed product, given Kyosho is a major Japanese r/c and diecast company. And speaking of Kyosho, Mini Z's cost a whole heap of money for being only 1/28 scale....

Anyway I got another 1/18 Spark LM winner on the way, I must boost my LM power.
And Crash, my Sparks seem to have excellent paint, and the only quality issue I have on any of my Sparks are the slightly foggy center headlamps on my Pug 905, which seems to have CA glue residue on them.
 
Soooo...After a long journey, I finally got the money back, now I have decided to buy this one.

The thing is: I sent a message to the seller because the insertion expired today and I still don't have the money.
Was 444€, I offered 370€ (shipment included) and he agrees to my offer (he got offers around 300€ and below, you can see them once the "Buy now+make an offer" insertion expires).
But seems like he want to do this outside eBay, via Paypal, sending me the invoice to my email address.
Can I trust him?
Am I covered with the same protection on eBay?
Should I ask to do the deal re-listing the car on eBay?

I owe a beer to all of you after this :lol::cheers:

I don't know about the trust but it's very unlikely you'll have eBay protections. I'd push for a re listing, personally but that's maybe just me.

I have have norev one been tempted to get the AA but they've always been more than what I would pay, I was offered one at Le mans last year for €130 but declined as I had no room for it.

Yes you have the same level of protection as long as you pick for goods and services and not as a gift.

Can you trust him? That's something you'd need to judge with your interactions.
