Now, my budget is around 300€ and I want to get a brand new shiny model...got some options...considering I do like prototypes too I can't really let the LC2 and the 962 C be outside my collection... @Venom800tt , how's the Lancia? If I remember you should have that model.
The 312 T2 from Hot Wheels Elite is a good choice, too bad I already have the model in 1:43 and personally I would prefer the T3 but I'm sure the 1:18 version was never produced...got already 2 Ferrari F1 from Exoto (Gilles T4 and Prost 641/2) and this should be enough for a while...
The 312 P Berlinetta is absolutely stunning but I really don't want to spend such a big amount of money AGAIN on a single model...
The P4 and the 312 from GMP are great but I can grab a decent P4 for MUCH MUCH less and the 312 is not my favourite Ferrari prototype...I already have a solid 512M...
Now, there are tons of pros and cons, but I would prefer the LC2 and the 962C (maybe I'll buy some LMPs from Maisto from the same eBay seller, the Audi R8 and the BMW LMR V12 are quite promising...)...I'm just disappointed you can't open hoods or remove the chassis to see the engine...Sparks models seems to be quite detailed anyway...any tips?

Lancia LC2 is probably my favorite Spark 1/18, just looks so sick, especially with the Martini livery. It is quite detailed exterior wise, being a resin and all. Interior looks good from what you can see through the windows. Lots of fine detailing around the wing supports too. Though, as much as I love the model, I do think Sparks are somewhat overpriced, being around $180-200 USD from most shops these days, though less desirable Spark racers can be had for around $140-$160 USD.

I also have a plain black GMP 312PB, and it is an amazing model. Uber detailed, though not quite CMC level. Looks amazing all opened up.

And as far as the V12 LMR goes, sometimes you can find nicer Kyosho versions for under $100 USD. Much nicer than the Maisto, which isn't a bad model itself. Though, Kyosho made two versions. One has an opening engine cover while the other doesn't. Other than that, they look pretty much identical.

Good, I had the same impression about the price, it looks great and the LC2 is probably one of my favourite prototypes but 150€ is quite high (still in the "less desiderable Spark range price" anyway...)...the same seller has the black GMP 312PB for 200€...that's 50€ more but you get a much much more detailed model (yet another Ferrari in my collection and I want more variety, I'm basically purchasing anything I do like)...
The 962 C from Spark looks AMAZING as well...you can even apply Rothmans decals.
2 Sparks or 1 GMP but I'll get the Maisto BMW for sure, I mean it's only 30€!
The seller does not have the Kyosho version and it does not look bad at all!
The shop has the Minichamps Porsche 956L NewMan livery now, for the same price of the Spark 962 C (Rothmans racing colours are better than the yellow/black combo)...I dunno but I don't like Minichamps models...despite this one has the opening engine cover...
The only thing that is stopping me from buying both Sparks because they look stunning it's the unremovable chassis...opening parts are the best thing you can have from a 1:18 model...
 
Main reason I have the resins that I do have is the simple fact that they just ain't available in diecast opening form. Otherwise the only way I would get a resin is if it were significantly cheaper than an opening diecast.

There's a huge debate for resin vs diecast, from what I read resin models are unopenable, more expensive, more fragile but have a better paint job and the whole model tend to suffer from age less than a diecast one...
I DO have a resin McLaren MP4/6 from TS Miniatures and it looks stunning, much better than any diecast ****erpart, but die cast looks more "realistic" once you touch the model and I do like open the doors, remove the engine cover but I should avoid doint these things so...well I'm more and more convinced to get the 2 Spark models...
 
IIRC FrontiArt are the only ones who make opening resin models, and they cost... a lot. The vast majority of resin models have no openings though.
 
1/64 OEM Kyosho Pagani HEY RA!



Ordered it for a colleague, so the most I did was snap a basic pic.

The detailing is crisp, the interior has red seats, but the spokes aren't actually split. It's just black decal covering the groove to create the illusion.

I've been about thinking increasing my tiny collection. I just have one question, how dusty do your models get and how often do you clean them?

a) Very.
b) Very soft paintbrush. I have a collection of them to use for models.

Not very, and i clean them never.

Just store them in something that holds he dust out.

Most of my stuff is in these:

And don't use stuff like these with big gaps between te glass and the cabinet:

And lots of the cars inside have their own covers.

Very dusty and very rarely.

I'm probably going to add the Otto 850csi next to my collection. I just need to/should hold off for a bit as I just recently bought a couple of models.

Personally, if I were you I'd just go for the one you want more, even with the price difference. I've gone for the cheaper option before and not ended up being satisfied with my decision.
 
Can't miss out on this one. Break a piggy bank or two. Tip from an experienced buyer from this seller: he may have more in the future so try not to feel they're the last ones on the planet when engaging in bidding combat.* I run into this problem quite often. Unknowingly, I bought that same model from another seller for $25. At least it's a secret model (he too didn't know about :p)


*depends on the model really.
