It is of great sadness that the plastic diffuser on my fluorescent lamp randomly decided to let go and come crashing down on the RWB 911 and S1 Pikes Peak. I didn't even get around to photographing the models in their most pristine condition.

Today has indeed been a bad day. 2 seconds of silence would be appreciated. [/first-world-problems]


no but seriously, only the blades on the wings came off, so gluing them back is simple. I now have to go match the paint as best as I can. That's hella lame, and there go the resale value too :grumpy:

I must be the only person in the world who doesn't care about resale value of my models lol
But then, I never plan on selling any either....

I am well aware of the pain of having damaged a model though -___-
 
I don't normally buy these things with the intention of reselling, but maintaining its value isn't such a bad thing to do should I ever need and/or want to sell them off in the future. I like to be flexible in this case since we don't know how the future may turn out.

I used to drop hundreds on finding Hot Wheels, telling myself I'd never sell them since I'd be collecting 1/64 forever. Look what I'm doing now! :rolleyes:

I like it more with driver in the car. If the flag versions have complete decals on it i would have taken one, but it aint..

I spent my money to take gorgeous photos for you to see how a TSM dragon car looks (or how much bigger this dragon is compared to yours), so you won't have to..... because you'd probably never spend your money for this anyway. Consider this a public service!

Was going to resell this immediately, but I got too much super glue on this :( Can't resell for money, can't really make back anything.... Could mod it, but that's unplanned spending. Aside from that, if you're more interested in owning this than I am, reach out to me... or go buy it from ck-modelcars.

Sometimes their quality control can be sorta dodgy, but so far all of my Otto's have arrived fine. Like GT Spirit, they are sealed resin models though. Depending on where you are and who you order from, Otto's can be had for as cheap as $80 USD shipped. That isn't bad at all for the detail level of their models, which body wise, is comparable to most AUTOarts. Otto's tend to have better paint than AA's though. Actually, resins in general tend to have better paint when compared to diecast models, with the exception of having decals instead of tampo printed stuff.
 
That's one thing I don't quite understand. How come they don't pad print/tampo resin models? I've pad printed/tampoed various substrates before, I'm at a loss of why they don't do it to resin.

Because the pressure required would destroy them.

I know resin parts can be quite thin, but surely if the jig/or underlying material was fairly robust, I doubt that the pressure of a pad printer would destroy the resin. (caught my fingers underneath those pads a few times.. Doesn't hurt due to fairly softish tampo pads).

Was gonna ask in the Porsche FM6 thread, but it was a little off topic, but is that an Autoart? If so, does yours seem to sit too low in the front? I swear mine has been sinking down lower and lower over the years.

Also, I like the red. Mine is boring silver. :)
 
It is the Autoart. It does seem low at the front, but I couldn't recall if it was ever higher.
 
Wowzer that Otto 400R is already sold out at ck-modelcars.

Good luck, prospective buyers. You may have to wait some few years for lower prices.

Can't say the presentation of photos lives up to the standards of their 1/18 models, but hey, it's rally cars!

Also, they will come with their respective Tobacco liveries, but you'll need to install the decals. Nice little workaround I'd say.

I'm going to echo what others have already mentioned. Otto has a history of not very good quality control, though at least the good news is it's definitely better now than a couple of years ago.

A few of their models that I have have paint over runs or paint chips. One has a slightly misplaced decal and another doesn't sit on all four wheels at the same time (it tripods). Of the ones that don't have an issue though, they generally are pretty damn good.

If the issues were worse, then I would reconsider, but until then, I'll still buy Otto because they are the only ones making some of the cars that they have.
 
From what I have read about Otto, they generally focus on models of cars that no one has made before, hence their sheer variety of models. Granted, there are a handful that have been done (E36 M3 for example), but mostly they stick to cars not yet made in 1/18.
