I have made an offer on this... BBR Ferrari 296 GT3 1:18 scale

I've had my eye on this since it first came out, and a rare opportunity to own it has come up. It's actually based in Maranello, which is kind of crazy in itself, and is one of just 449 pieces. It's right at the top of what I think is a fair price, so I've put in a cheeky bid of 90%, which might take the sting of having to pay VAT on it too.

Good luck. I really wish I'd have gotten the 1/64 Jaguar XJR-9 I bid on last month. I was the only bidder up until the final couple ours (which is why I still think the seller had someone else bid on it so they wouldn't have to sell it for just over what the bids started at).

Got two beautiful models coming in:

The Flying Lizard Porsche is partly out of nostalgia, partly because of the beautiful liveries Flying Lizard is known for. Somewhere down the line I hope to collect all of their art liveries. The Maserati I have been waiting a long time for.

Fingers crossed Spark might do some more Spa 24 hour cars from the GT1 era: Ferrari 550 GT1, Lister Storm, Vipers, etc.

I miss the Flying Lizard Porsches from IMSA and Le Mans. I do have the 1/43 ones Spark released with Flying Lizard packaging years ago myself. Great liveries IMO.

Anyway got a model of a plane I worked on years ago, an Embraer ERJ-145LR:

Not exactly about models themselves, but I moved to my own place and finally after a couple of decades I can properly display my collection
Still have a bunch of 1:43 to move from old place so the cabinet is gonna get more packed later

My bid was successful, and it arrived in one piece!

BBR Ferrari 296 GT3 #036/449, all the way from Maranello...

Needless to say, that's the budget well and truly blown - and it also makes my car collection pretty much complete. I think I need to ban myself permanently from eBay from now on, but I am very happy indeed with this beautiful piece of automotive artistry. I should also have an acrylic lid from BBR arriving shortly to keep the dust off...

Finally got around to displaying my 911 collection after around 15 years. I knew I had a lot of models but seeing them all out at once seems more.... excessive than I expected. Still, I am very happy.

There is currently no lighting, but I am working that part out, so please excuse the low quality, flash photography.

@SPhilli911 Amazing collection, and nice display cabinets - I was looking for something like this but I don't even have the space for that! I have a much smaller collection though, but I want them to be displayed well.

It's really interesting to see that these are all road cars - do you have any GT3s or 911 GT1s? I currently only have one 911 - a 1:43 Minichamps Grello I bought at the Nürburging and got the box signed by Kevin Estre, so it's the centrepiece of my GT3 (Nürb/Spa) shelf, but I literally have no more room for expansion.

My latest (and by far most significant) addition is the BBS Ferrari 296 GT3 - which is the launch edition that is not race-liveried, so it's the closest thing I have to a non-race car in my display. I'm considering a 1:18 296 GTB (a model, not the real thing, albeit tempted 😅... ) - but I'm so impressed by 1:18s now that I don't know if a 1:43 road car would cut it, esp. in the presence of the magnificent BBR model.

Thank you! I am certain you will display your collection someday! I only just last week moved into a new place that allowed me to display mine.

This Porsche 911 collection started as 1:43 scale (which I sometimes wish I stuck with simply for space reasons) but I just love the detail of 1:18. And yes, I do have GT3s, in fact I have all GT3/GT3 RS road cars as well as a handful of GT3 R/RSR/Cup race cars with no liveries. No GT1s, unfortunately. Some of the good models I missed and they are expensive now, so I decided not to include them.

And to think I still have a 200+ 1:43 rally car collection to display...
