This just arrived today via UPS:

The level of detail is ridiculous. This is my first expensive model, but it was well worth the money. I may just have to get more things from AutoArt in the future :D

A couple new pictures of my whole collection.

I will post more soon.

And also, a couple interesting facts & opinions about my collection:

- the most abundant manufacturer is AUTOart
- the most detailed model is my McLaren-Mercedes SLR made by CMC
- my first 1:18 scale model was a Ferrari F50 that I bought from a Shell gas station (still present in my collection)
- the most abundant car manufacturer is Ferrari with 8 road cars and 7 Formula 1 race cars
- the hardest to find models are the Toyota GT-One #3 "ESSO Ultron" and Jordan EJ13 Fisichella "1st Win"
- the rarest model is the McLaren Alex Wurz F1 race car, seen with Alex// on it. Only 999 of them worldwide.
- the rarest "custom" model is the BAR-Honda 007 with "555" advertising on it
- my favorite model is the McLaren Alex F1 with Alex// on it
- my favorite model manufacturer is Kyosho (most of my BMW's are from Kyosho)
- the two magazines pictured are signed by Jenson Button & Barichello and also Mika Hakkinen & Coulthard (respectively), and the models by the magazines is Button's BAR-Honda and Hakkinen's McLaren-Mercedes respectively

simply fact and problem with most collections, not enough room! and also i hate models getting dusty and then having to clean them theres the fear of braking them(hence why the brock cars are almost never on display!)

Hmm my lil FPV is like a dust box on wheels now, its even got a bit of dust inside it :odd: Anyone know how to clean em? :scared:

Get a big make-up/powder brush (a new one, not your moms used one) and use that to dust off the outside. Unfortuantly, unless you can blow really hard, you'll have to turn to a can of compressed air to clean out the inside.

I am lucky enough to have a big basement in my house where I have these cabinets and everything. I spend most of my time in there anyway.

At the moment, I've reached a point where I can't accomodate much more than 10-15 more models, but fortunately for me, my wishlist doesn't consist of 15 or more models, and pretty much all of them are future releases.

There is 1 model I'm looking to get right now, I just saw the Pescarolo from 2006 Le Mans in 1:18 by Spark. I really want this one, but not sure if I can swallow the expensive price tag, especially since I know it's not Bentley Speed 8 exterior detail-like.

I use a Microfibre cloth for exteior, like holden. However seeing as I kep te panels closed at most times I dont tend to get dust in the interior, if I ever did I would have a clue how to clean it properly.

Thanks.

The box at the bottom is Villeneuve's 312T4. It doesn't quite fit into my sportscars theme and I'll need to get a seperate display box for it.

Let's see some pictures of it. I just received my Villeneuve model today, might have some pictures by tommorow.

I also noticed that Exoto might be re-releasing the Jaguar XJR9-LM #2 sometime, will have to get that one too when it comes out again. Shoulda got it when it first came out, especially when they had those 30% off codes.

maybe one of the most talked about models to come out this year, the good old bentley blower. Not a lemans winner but somehow a very famous car.the screws on it are smaller than normal so i couldnt unscrew them :(

mines is the DE version orginally when these came out a couple of months back they were around £140 but recently bentley and minichamps have thought that was abit cheap and have jacked it up to £180!! and if you think its mainly diecast, erm nop! alot of it is plastic! not looking good is it  but maybe they used leather on it? nop the seats are plastic and i have my doubts on the straps.what about the wheels? plastic! the bonnet? plastic! fenders? PLASTIC! you can see where this is going.

so is there anything to like about this model? well yes.even though it is mainly plastic, the car is beautiful theres no other word for it and fantasicly detailed.i have to admit i find MC's models crap but theirs DE's are second to none and the hinges are admittedly the best ive seen on a model! The straps are a nice touch but an utter b*stard.

so is this model worth £180+?

NO!!!!!

so why does it cost so much? simple answer being they know we will buy this! i only paid £100 for this from a guy who works for bentley and imo it was worth the £100 but then again most of my models after postage come to around the same so in a sense im used to that kinda price.i would say if you can find one for a similer price(theres a couple on ebay for £110) and you want it then get it.for £180? well you must ether really really want one or youve done a good job avoiding the men in white coats :)

Got 2 IKEA displays on order, but my search for a model car garage/diorama in larger scales is a bit slow. The only one I see worth owning is the one Eric 1:18 has. Most others are 1:24 and 1:25 and are made for smaller vehicles.

I wonder what it would be worth if it was diecast

I expect a $300+ diecast to make a CMC look like a cheap hotwheels, not the other way around....
And if all goes well I should have at least one CMC by the end of the year, along with various other diecasts I need...
