You could try the WHSmith in the middle of Birmingham has a ModelZone in it, if you wanted to inspect some models. Depends on where in Birmingham you live. Otherwise, I found a website called Wonderland Models who are based in the UK.
Yes I have been in there. Very limited on choice. I loved the model zone on Bull street..... until it closed. I'm right in the city center

Excellent I shall give that website a try!

Thank you DG_Silva

R32 is hardly at the top of my wish list, only bought it because it was cheap...

Speaking of HPI cars.

I only just discovered they stopped their miniature car works in the end of last year.

HPI
Announcement of Precision Cast Model Car Division Withdrawal

Dear Customer,

First and foremost we would like to thank you for your support over the last 8 years. HPI has decided to withdraw from the Die-cast and Resin model car market. Global factors, including economic downturn and cost increases, have helped create a business atmosphere that is no longer financially lucrative. Our passion kept us driving through the challenges of the global market over the years, but the time has come where we must withdraw from the Die-cast and Resin car market. For this reason, we will not be making any new batches of product and will need to cancel all pre-orders for all un-released product. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. Please see the attached spreadsheet for all canceled products.

We hope that you have enjoyed our products and sense our reluctance to move on, as our passion for these model cars is something gained over many years in the business. HPI will focus our efforts going forward on the radio control side of the market.

Sincerely,

December 2013

Really a shame, as they made some of the best model cars available for sometimes very good prices.
I just got some RA272 honda's in 1:43 for a bargain. (Much cheaper than original list prices for resin HPI's)

And my set a side models of the lancia delta integrale martini 6 could get very wanted....

This worries me. I recently discovered them and was willing to put down some money on some models, but now they might skyrocket... eh, who knows, I'll snoop around, but man the prices for shipping on these things is insane

Hey, collectors. I thought you guys would want to know about these listings @ ebay.

If I collected 1:43s, I'd be all over them. Mind you, these prices are competing with a dude who sells the same things (from Portugal) $40 shipped worldwide.

A warning to any potential buyer of a Bburago 1:18 Porsche 356: It is NOT 1:18.

I recently bought a Bburago 356B off Ebay, was describes as 1:18. When it came in the mail today it looked great, like all Bburago models do, with actual separate parts where there would be decals or simple embossments on other low-price brand models. I then took the car to it's new home next to a 550A Spyder, and then I realized just how large it was. Wider than a 997 911 from both Maisto and Norev. I divided the real car's width by the model's and found the actual scale to be about 1:16.

Bburago used to be my favorite model brand, but now I'm afraid to order any more off the internet, or even buy them NIB without measuring first. Bburagos are nice because they're actually not made in China, but apparantly the Chinese really are better at math than the rest of us.

Oh well, it will now sit with my other oddly scaled cars, away from it's fellow Porsches.

Thanks mate 👍 Now I have a burning hole in my pocket for the next 5 days..

Worth it though? :D

It's 99 cent race cars! Come on! You can't pass up on that! I'd put $15 on them and sit on that.

I'll be selling all my 1:18s over the next few months or so, but I'm having a bit of trouble deciding how much to put them up for. I'll be selling them through eBay, and I've been looking there to give some idea of what things are going for, but I'm not sure how many are actually selling at the prices they're on sale for - £180 for one of these...

...seems a bit optimistic, for example.

Aside from eBay, whereabouts do you guys buy second hand models from, to give me some idea of what the going rate is?

Thanks in advance!

What's on your list Roo?

Everything I've ever posted in this thread, and some I might not have got round to posting. There's about 120 cars altogether. I'm currently going through them all, taking photos and noting anything that needs mentioning in an eBay ad. Once I've done that I'll start selling them.

Off the top of my head...

Autoart - all 6 Toyota TS020 GT-ONEs (#27,28,29,1,2,3); Mazda 787B; RX8 in 787B livery; Senna's 1984 Merc 190E; Merc 190E Evo II; '98 Toyota Corolla WRC; both Ford GT LM Spec IIs and the Skyline GT-R R34 from Gran Turismo; Honda S2000; 2 Subaru Impreza road cars; Mitsubishi Evo 7 road car; BMW Mini Cooper; Jaguar C-type; 2002 & 2003 Bentley Speed 8; Skyline and NSX JGTC test cars; plain body versions of the Aston DBR9, Corvette C6R, BMW 320i, BMW M3 GTR, 911 GT3R, 2003 Impreza WRC, Xsara WRC, 307 WRC, Evo 9 WRC

Exoto - #61 Sauber C9

Kyosho - Bathurst Mini, Monte Carlo Minis from '64, '65 and '67, Mini 621AOK, Ferrari 575 GTC, BMW V12 LMR

Bburago - Diablo, Countach, Murcielago, Viper RT10, Beetle RSi, Mille Miglia Beetle, Mille Miglia Merc SLR #722, Millie Miglia Fiat 500 (1:16), 2 Rover Minis (1:16), 2 E-types (one coupe, one convertible)

Hot Wheels (some are Elite, can't remember which) - F40, F355 Spyder, 599, black FXX, Schumacher's #30 FXX, Enzo, MC12, Diablo GTR

Maisto - 350Z Nismo, XJ220, Alpine A110, Dodge Copperhead, Alfa GTV Spyder

Minichamps - Verstappen's 2003 Minardi, Button's 2005 BAR, Schumacher's 1991 Jordan, 1994 Merc DTM, 2001 BMW M3 GTR, Senna's '84 Toleman, '92 McLaren and '94 Williams

Univeral Hobbies - Land Rover Series III Pickford livery; Renault Clio V6 race car; Ford GT40

And some others of various makes - Bullitt Mustang 390GT, TF&TF black Civic and green Eclipse, Saleen S7, Shelby GT-500, Black Bandit Beetle and Microbus, Blues Brothers Dodge, Triumph TR4 rally car, TVR Tuscan, Lotus Elise Mk2, Button's 2002 Renault R202, Heidfeld's 2004 Jordan, a variety of Minis (police van, AA van, various saloons), Ford GT concept, 3 Audi R8 Le Mans cars, Skoda Fabia WRC, MX-5, Peugeot 905, London taxi...

I'll eventually post an entire list (that isn't a complete mess) with prices in the Trading Post once I've been through everything. Trying to set prices that aren't ridiculous but don't mean I lose out is the hard part.

Check on eBay by searching the same items, and checking the box on the left that says "sold listings" to filter your results. That will show you how much people were willing to pay for one. Note the dates of when they sold and how much the current listings are at. You may as well check if those current listings have sold at all by filtering it to only "completed listings". If you see the same item not being sold over and over again, that's probably not the price you want to sell at (take note the location of the seller too).

It takes some time, but hey, that's how it is if you want to maximize your profits while keeping prices desirable.

I hadn't noticed those before. That's brilliant, thanks!

Hell yeah! :D I'm crazy about those Porsches, I want at least one! I won't bid on them now, maybe in the last few hours before ending. On some of those items bidding activity is very high. The 917 hippy Porsche is already at 19 dollars and the #21 917 over 25!! :scared:

Got my eyes on this, this, this and the one I want to most: click. Would look great next to my 1:18 #3 hippy 917..

I want all your TS020's!!

Currently I have the #29 and would like to have one next to it. If you know what you want for one, I'd be happy to know 👍 Maybe you can post a link to your eBay account when you're done putting it all up? And what number is on your Bentley? I have the #7..

They are 1:18 right?

Good luck with your sale!

That LFA is weird. First I thought it was the 'Nurb version but the rest of the car doesn't match..

But! It looks okay for that price and size..

Unlike most scale models of new cars, historic vehicles get the exception for me when it comes to dust. It seems appropriate for the age of the depicted vehicle and enhances its vintage collectible appeal. 👍

@Carlos I suppose I'll take a gamble on it anyways. If it doesn't turn out that great, I obviously won't be buying from whatever this company is, again. I also felt odd about the wheels being different for it. I'd be happy with one without the spoiler, but if I did. I suppose this is the other option with really awful wheels. :yuck:

However, they do have some...interesting models. Ranging from the Honda CR-V to the Bugatti Veyron or...Ferrari FF. It seems like their quality (at least from the photos) varies. One car looks horribly proportioned, whilst the other looks much better. Some other examples of their products...
