I went and framed my vinyl copy of Sabbath's Sabotage album,
but instead of the front I chose to have the backside of the sleeve
on display.

Might be a weird choice but I figured it was fine since I already have the front of the album displayed with
the CD booklet.

The Sabotage album art has been a mind**** for me ever since I saw it for the first time and I
always ask people I talk Sabbath with if they have also noticed it.

The fact that there are two different photos and not actually a real mirror image (which they are
trying to convey). The clearest eye catch is Geezer's left hand in his pocket on the front of the album,
it's not in the pocket on the backside.

Another. This time a signed 7” of the soundtrack from a horror comedy.

All profits go to a cat charity who rescue street cats mainly in Egypt.

It also comes a postcard and bumper sticker. It says it’s suppsed to be a test pressing (usually white label) but was very limited.

Two more added.

Park Jiha - Communion
Ambient and abstract, mixed with Jazz and traditional Korean music. It’s quite a beautiful LP.

Kraftwerk - Radio-activity

Well... it’s Kraftwerk nuff said.

Another bunch of 7”s and an LP.

Drank is the remixes LP of Thundercat’s hit album Drunk. Unlike it’s predecessor this is on purple wax and in the form of a double 12” compared to 4 10” Records on red wax.

These are the latest 7”s from Polytechnic Youth. The feature quite a wide range of electronic music styles and the Detox Twins especially could easily feature on the soundtrack to a film like the Matrix.

I haven't bought any vinyl since Hardwired... to Self Destruct came out over a year ago as I've had some money issues (I actually had to sell a few :(). Things have improved with my finances though and since my birthday was a few days ago I figured I would treat myself.

New:
Judas Priest - Screaming for Vengeance
Pink Floyd - The Delicate Sound of Thunder

Used:
Billy Joel - Streetlife Serenade
Huey Lewis & The News - Sports

My local record store has expanded their vinyl section as well since the last time I was there and now has a whole section dedicated to new metal albums. I look forward to going there on a regular basis again. :D

This is a great album. I have an OG UK pressing. Also have Unleashed In The East & Stained Class.

I had a couple different versions of it back when I collected CD's (2001 remaster and 30th Anniversary versions), it's probably my favorite Judas Priest album.

New synth LP from “The Home Current” on Polytechnic Youth. Really nice album and limited to 300 copies which sold out pretty much instantly.

Czarface Meets Metal Face. Picked up the wax locally but the cassette tapes I picked up direct from Czarface in the US (I didn’t realise the UK was getting the tapes and didn’t want to miss out)

It’s a pretty good LP, maybe not as good as Every Hero Needs A Villan but still having MFDoom makes it and interesting album.

I also picked up Dr Octagon’s new LP so pics of that to come later. I also may have my Japanese copy of DJ Krush’S new wax too by tomorrow.

Had this LP on order with my local shop for two months now as it's rare as hens teeth since the bang Gang Of Youths cleaned up at the this years ARIA's.
It's still on order there but stumbled on this version while in Sydney a few days ago, big thanks to @Mike Rotch for taking me to an area I wouldn't have normally gone to which had a few record shops. Anyway talking to the guy in-store he too is still waiting on the local releases and in the mean time he had the chance to get two of these limited releases from the US so I was all over it.

When mine turns up at my store I'll just have two versions, albeit slightly different.

Evening, everyone. Been a while. Last time I posted something here I'd just got A Moon Shaped Pool, so I think an update is certainly due. Especially since,

and this is a big thing for me,

I've filled up the first quarter of my shelving unit.

IMG_20180422_213018.jpg

Absolutely wonderful, isn't it?

You can see most of what I've got there so you can judge my music taste as much as you want, and besides it'd take a rather long post to cover everything, so here's what I've bought recently:

IMG_20180422_214556.jpg

That's Go Kart Mozart - Mozart's Mini Mart up at the top, the most eclectic and endearing outsider pop album I've heard in a very long time, and at the bottom is Dope Body - Natural History, a complete blind buy that I found somewhere for £7 that actually turns out to be one of the best and most angry math rock albums of the last decade. That's next to two EPs from Yen Towers (Bidders Must Justify Their Price) and Loke Rahbek (Love Means Taking Action - Versions), both from the Swedish / Danish experimental music label Posh Isolation. One of my faves for sure.

Also, one more because it's what I'm listening to right now:

IMG_20180422_213755.jpg

Women - Public Strain is one of my favourite albums of all time. Simple as that. It's only some Canadian lo-fi indie rock album from 2010, but it's almost the perfect version of what it could be and I would recommend it to anybody who likes any kind of arranged noise. Unfortunately the band broke up a while ago but most of the members are now in the also-good Preoccupations, who are one of the best (and moodiest) bands in the modern post punk scene.

Oh, and I hope you all had a decent Record Store Day too, whether you got something or just decided to have a lie in instead. I didn't take part this year since I'm one of those grumpy naysayers who doesn't really like it, but I will be honest, I did have more than one fantasy about that Wire box set...

Recent album by a very talented trio. Excellent Hip Hop.

The recent repress with replica sleeve, insert and Obi. Excellent soul/pop/Jazz LP.

A super super limited lathe cut 7” of funky horror electro. Because Norman Records in the UK can’t participate in RSD. They team up with Polythenic Youth to put out some very limited singles.

43A02281-AF8B-4612-AC01-B1AE8F429BBD.jpeg

A RSD 2LP from SunRa and it’s excellent. Pressed at RTI. Fantastic spiritual Jazz.

B299EB2F-7566-4030-8FD6-B0E162DE0AD0.jpeg

Another RSD pick up. Bibio’s double A side single is a brill record. If you love electronic music then can’t go wrong with this. Also they made a video (below) on how the sleeves were made. Each one is individual to the next.

731EF2A7-ABD3-4C07-BCBA-24E55B65C983.jpeg

The last RSD record this year is a Miles Davis EP, however it’s more of an extended single. 4 tracks all varioations on one. This to me was a little disappointing as it just felt like a cash in.

C187872E-76C6-46B8-9A35-51C5A23A66BF.jpeg

Last but not least is DJ Krush’s intrumental LP. This is the Japanese pressing as I didn’t like the EU sleeve.

Anyone else pick up some RSD goodies?

I'm really digging that top right cubby...

It’s a second boxset one. It’s also got an open packet of Inner sleeves and a packet each of small (single record) and large (gatefold) sized Blake outer sleeves. Top middle has also got boxsets in too.

Also some more records.

Ras-G & The Afrikan Space Program - Stargate Music. If you’re not familiar with Ras-G then think Flying Lotus meets Gonjasufi. Check your streaming service for sound and turn up the volume.

This 10” single/EP needs no introduction. It’s another RSD but which I didn’t expect to pick up. Some great tracks.

Got this the other day. I Monster Neveroddoreven, Dharma Records.
First released in 2004 but never on vinyl until 2017 only on limited edition orange vinyl.

Recent repress of Aphex Twins “Selected Ambient Works” while it’s a must have on wax, try and get an OG. This repress is messed up.

A nice clean copy of Polonaisen. Classical isn’t an always go to but it’s good to put on and have as background while reading.

Also bagged a deluxe copy of the Lost Album by John Coltrane. The pressing, music and packaging are all on point and for Jazz Guys is a must have.

More apologies for the triple post. Not much movement here at the moment. However the acquisitions of wax are ongoing so here is the latest.

It's only fair to take some heat off @Sprite and avoid a quadruple post.
I keep forgetting to post here but here's today's purchases.

Ann Peebles, this was Mrs Shaun's pick but I get the feeling I'll like it.

Ella Hooper, a local Aus artist who is also the lead singer in the band Killing Heidi which also features her brother.

Thanks Shaun. I was dreading a quad post. I’ll have to look into the Ann Peebles LP as I like a bit of soul music.

I’ve picked up a record I’d certainly recommend to those who want something which the recording and pressing are top notch and the music is excellent.

A bit of a punt on this one. I’m still making my mind up on the music. Dub Reggae isn’t my cup of tea or my area of musical knowlage.

Last is a must have for any jazz fan. A bit of a rare beast up until now. Quite an interesting album and some of the most furious jazz I’ve ever heard being played.
