SPOILER ALERT!*
*go further and risk having the storyline spoiled for you.
For decades, ex-government agent Raymond "Red" Reddington (James Spader) has been one of the FBI's most wanted fugitives. Brokering shadowy deals for criminals across the globe, Red was known by many as "The Concierge of Crime." Now, he's mysteriously surrendered to the FBI with an explosive offer: He will help catch a long-thought-dead terrorist, Ranko Zamani, under the condition that he speaks only to Elizabeth "Liz" Keen (Megan Boone), an FBI profiler fresh out of Quantico. For Liz, it's going to be one hell of a first day on the job.
What follows is a twisting series of events as the race to stop a terrorist begins. What are Red's true intentions? Why has he chosen Liz, a woman with whom he seemingly has no connection? Does Liz have secrets of her own? Zamani is only the first of many on a list that Red has compiled over the years: a "blacklist" of politicians, mobsters, spies and international terrorists. He will help catch them all... with the caveat that Liz continues to work as his partner. Red will teach Liz to think like a criminal to "see the bigger picture" - whether she wants to or not.
Also starring are Diego Klattenhoff, Harry Lennix, and Ryan Eggold. Jon Bokenkamp, John Eisendrath, John Davis, and John Fox serve as executive producers. The pilot was directed by Joe Carnahan.

Madeline wants Red to procure a small ancient statue, the Effigy of Atargatis, in which is hidden a list of Cold War-era Soviet spies known as the Kungur Six. Liz's eyes light up to discover that since the Kungur Six are still active, nailing them would be the holy grail of American spycraft. Nevertheless, Cooper isn't happy. Unable to get squat out of Red, Cooper orders Meera to investigate.

Summary:
Just outside Manhattan, bloody prisoners stumble from the wreckage of the crashed prison transport plane. No one knows where it came from or where it was going. The FBI is already interviewing the captured survivors, all of whom explain in broken English that a monster guy in a hood who was handcuffed to a guard cut his hand off after barking orders at the pilot. Across town, a bearded man with no hand stumbles into a hospital and collapses. Meanwhile, Agent Martin escorts Red to a Post Office cell and chains him to a chair. This time there will be no trial; Red will simply disappear. Nevertheless, Red tells Martin, Liz has made it all worthwhile. Liz tries to convince Cooper to release Red to help with the case, but his hands are tied, especially since she still intends to quit the task force. Liz appeals to Martin, but he's convinced she and Red are in cahoots and won't let her near him. Later, Martin is displeased to announce Red has a visitor. Fitch is beside himself with this epic failure of U.S. intelligence: no one can figure out anything about the plane. He can't help but think the whole operation was perpetrated by the man going after Red, and to that end, his people are prepared to give Red a fighting chance to escape.

Luther Braxton, S3E01
The Blacklister: Luther Braxton - DECEASED
Summary:
Breaking news: Reddington has been apprehended in Hong Kong in full view of the public - and in a tuxedo. After being transferred into the custody of U.S. Marines and hooded, Red is loaded into a Blackhawk and transported to a black-site prison somewhere in the middle of the Bering Sea. The hood comes off at The Factory, designed to drain intel from detainees who have been trained to withstand torture - a veritable slaughterhouse where spies disappear forever. Red sets his site on a guard named Desmond, offering him $50,000 cash in exchange for a word with the warden.
Luther Braxon Conclusion, S3E02
Summary:
We pick up where the last episode left off: two raptors have just firebombed The Factory, per the CIA's directive. The blast has nearly destroyed the room where Ressler and Samar have been hanging from the ceiling by chains, allowing Ressler to get free, kill their captors and save Samar from strangling to death. Red revives to find himself alone, no Liz, no Braxton - but he does find a working shortwave radio. With all communications down, Cooper wants Goodson to send in the Coast Guard, but she insists the bombing never happened. If Cooper wants to press matters, he will be relieved of duty. Fully aware of this scenario, Red starts wiring up his shortwave, hoping to get a signal out before The Factory slips into the ocean and everyone on the rig drowns.
Ruslan Denisov, S3E03

Near the perimeter fence, two guards are loading ammunition crates into buried storage containers when they're shot dead. That's when we realize the sermon is the preamble to Kenyon's wedding to a 12-year-old girl. But just before the vows are uttered, a smoke grenade sails through a window and the door is locked from the outside with a scythe. Screams of murderous mayhem can be heard issuing from within.
The Deer Hunter, S3E05
The Blacklister: Tracy Solobotkin - INCARCERATED
Summary:
In a college classroom, Liz lectures 40 students about a serial killer named The Deer Hunter: he spends hours stalking his prey and is only interested in big men, bucks that are hard to take down. After the ritual of the hunt, the killer guts his victims on site, removing organs with surgical precision and leaving them behind in a pile. Liz believes her guy is a rather small, weak young man, trying to gain control over someone who once dominated him. As we hear Liz's words, we see a diminutive hooded figure take out a man in an alley with a crossbow, then start butchering him. After hoisting the flayed carcass to hang spread-eagled and upside down from a fire escape, The Deer Hunter takes off his hood to reveal mousey Tracy Solobotkin. In what Liz calls "a final act of domination," Tracy swallows her revulsion and takes a single solitary bite out of the liver she just harvested... the signature of a serial killer.
T. Earl King VI, S3E06
The Blacklister: T. Earl King VI - DECEASED
Summary:
The action begins two years ago, in an opulent mansion somewhere on Jekyll Island. Wearing formal attire, a glucose IV and a tracheotomy incision, eightysomething patriarch Earl King pilots his electric wheelchair into his office, where his adult sons Francis and Tyler wait. Ignoring them, Earl addresses Rene Valmont, asking for the tally, just as the clock strikes midnight. Loading one bullet into an antique Schofield revolver, Valmont reports that Tyler's bids total $67,800,000, while Francis has $67,400,000 - since a payment of $1.8 million didn't arrive before the midnight deadline. When Earl urges his boys to "get on with it," a fuming Francis swigs one last sip of fine scotch before putting the gun to his head and pulling the trigger. Lucky for him this unusual game of Russian roulette has spared his life... until the next round must be played.
