I'm happy to introduce GTPlanet's newest service, GTPremium! If you want to get rid of the ads, want more features, and want to help out the site in the process, here is your chance. GTPremium benefits can be enjoyed for only $3.99 per month, or save money and upgrade your account to an annual subscription for $39.99 per year. Here is an outline of the advantages that Premium subscribers enjoy:

  • Red, bold user names in the User's Online list and in threads will make you and your posts stand out.
  • You will now appear on the Forum Leaders page.
  • If you don't already have access to a custom user title, you will be able to set your own to whatever you like.
  • Enjoy the ability to open and close your own threads at your discretion.
  • Post up to 20 MB of attachments.
  • Show your style with moderator and administrator-sized avatars! 110x110 images up to 25 KB in size are allowed.
  • Put a real face to your posts with Profile Pictures! See this profile for an example.
  • Save more than 1000 Private Messages in your Inbox.
  • Send PM's to 20 different people at the same time.
  • Enjoy completely advertising-free forums! Pages will load much faster when the ads don't have to be retrieved from the overloaded ad servers. Ads will still appear on the rest of the site but I am working to get them off there for premium users as soon as possible.
  • Premium users are allowed to change their username once per calendar month!
  • Premium users have access to a private forum open to all discussions.

To upgrade your account and start enjoying these new features, visit the Paid Subscriptions page of "My GTPlanet" and follow the instructions to pay via PayPal. More features will be coming soon for Premium users, as well as a chance to WIN free tickets to the first-ever JGTC and D-1 Drift Competitions in the United States! In the meantime, if you have any questions please let me know! :)

Best of luck, with the services Jordan. 👍

Enjoy the ability to open and close your own threads at your discretion.

So if a moderator closes your thread, you can open it?

It’s great to be able to support planet whilst receiving some extra features. Excellent work as always Jordan. 👍

Edit: Page loading times are significantly reduced without the ads…I won’t be missing ‘beauty without botox.’

Sadly, my parents don't trust the internet.. I'd sign up in a jiffy!

If a premium member gets banned, and they payed for a year of premium service, do they get their money back for the months they wont get to use?

Incidentally, we (the mods and Jordan) are discussing that at this very moment, so we'll get back to you on that. Of course, it'll make things easier if Premium members just obey da rules. ;)

Yeah, but sometimes you gotta get a little stern with some of the idiots that come here.

Man I've been hearing about this ever since I registered. It's nice to see it come through.

I'm glad to see this is finally up and running, I'll try and get some way to pay it but it may not be for a while :grumpy:

One thing I don't like is the name changing thing, that could be very annoying

Actually, I'm pretty sure they have most of the extra services already so it really would be ok.

I say nay for name changing. Not only could it get annoying, but people wouldn't know who you were after you change your name! (Unless you keep the same 'tar.)

Wow, great question! To be perfectly honest with you, I hadn't thought of it. Technically, you will be able to open it. However, if the thread is closed by a moderator and you re-open it, you will be issued with an official warning.

I'd definitley sign up for this if I had access to a credit card...
I am looking into alternate payment methods so you may be able to enjoy Premium access in the future. :)

Thank you, Samberto! And I'm glad you posted that about loading speed - that should answer any skeptics out there! :)

I think it would be unfair for the Moderator's to get free membership.
The moderators actually do get free membership. They work very hard and do a GREAT job for me and the community. They really do deserve a lot more than just free premium membership!

Christmas is just around the corner so I'm sure a lot of people will be signing up. :) As for me, I think I can live with ads and a tad smaller avatars. I don't upload very much, and I think we all know my situation on name changes (:p), and I don't PM very much at all.

Oh well. I'm sure you'll still get a lot of people to sign up. Good luck with the new service, Jordan. 👍

Great idea. I'm glad I can support this community that has given me so much fun.

I do hope you come up with some alternative methods of payment as it kills me to use paypal (bad bad bad ebay experience with paypal years ago). I broke my no paypal rule to support the community.

Aside from the ads and the name changing stuff, everything else GTPremium has to offer is similar to what the SuperMod position offers. Aside the ban function, of course. ;)

Some Questions:

Can I sign up for one month just to try it out without re-newing it every month?

If I change my username within that one month, can I keep it after that?

Do you accept Visa instead of Paypal?

Thanks, Viper!

Yes, the monthly subscriptions are paid on a monthly basis. You will have to renew your service each month or you will be demoted down to your previous status. It will be up to you each month, whether or not you want to renew. Username changes are permanent. We can only accept payments via Paypal at this time, however Paypal does accept Visa cards so you can use it if you wish.

Yeah, name changing could cause alot of probems and I really don't think it should be part of the service, or maybe limit it to once a year or something.

Also if one member changes there name for some special occasion but wants to change it back the next month couldn't someone steal there identity?

bleh, yet another reason for me to want a job. As soon as I get some cash rolling in, i'll try to register :)

signed up to try the faster loading pages (ads were already blocked thanks to firefox)

The standing out usernames is in a color I personally do not like though....

Can we not just get a bigger font (or a smaller one for the free subscriptioners) ?

Not for me currently.

GTPremium seems to be a good idea, but so far I don't see anything too far removed from standard membership to make it worth it for me. YET. I appreciate though that there is really only a limited number of things you can offer and keep the price accessible as it is. I will support the site in my own way though, by doing some Christmas shopping from the store (and it'll come to more than $39.99 :D).

Good luck with the endeavour though, Jordan. You know I wish you nothing but good fortune. And you never know - I may change my mind and sign-up in the future.

Famine - you forgot to add [/whinge-fest] at the end. :D

I basically agree with all of what Famine said (we discussed it last night), however, I have just decided to sign up. Not really for any of those reasons listed in Jordan's first post, but just to support the site.
