what can take this car on? is it the fastest in the game. this is after the GTR has been tuned up to the max.

I don't have the game yet ...

... But surely there are quite a few that are faster :boggled:

F40
Ford GT

just to name a couple.

The GTR is much easer to handle than does two, an maybe even faster.

I'm sorry, but that can't be right. Am I on the same page here? We're talking about the new Nissan Skyline GTR R35 right?

There is absolutely no way that car is faster than a Ford GT or F40, I've seen a video report which compares a BMW M3, Porsche GT (can't remember which ... they're all the same!) and an R35. The R35 was marginally faster than the Porsche and about 4 seconds faster than the beemer. You can't seriously tell me that the Ford GT and F40 are in the same speed range as those three? Sure it may be harder to drive, but it just means you have to be a better driver to get the most out of it.

The Nissan GTR is faster than the 911 turbo, ford GT and maybe than the F40. The R35 laps the Nordschliefe in 7:38 thats four seconds faster than the 911 turbo and Ford GT.

yeah.... The GTR is way overpowered... I bought a F430 thinking it will be lots faster, and it was quite a bit slower :|

Time to save up for F2007!

Yes, but that would be a normal Ford GT your refering to, right? Isn't the one in the game a race spec car?

Can you provide some solid info that on the same conditions, a normal GT-R R35 has at the very least similar performances to those of the Ford GT and the Ferrari F40?
Where are you getting that from?

I don't buy that F40 claim at all. I'm not an expert, by any means, but an R35 and an F40 driven by a professional driver (i.e. someone able to push both to the limits) in the same conditions. I have real doubts about an R35 keeping up with an F40.

That's not what I said at all, if you're going to quote my post partially, at least make it so you don't distort what I said.

Thanks.

No I'm agreeing with you :)

Just elaborating on your point. Sorry.

edit : I know that wasn't your opinon

If a gtr r35 can get a better laptime than an f430 around the nurburgring, what makes you think it can't hang with an f40?

Well, to my knowledge, the F40 is a race/track designed car. Very low weight and very specificly made.
The R35 is a road going car that is weighed down with all the usual gizmos that come with newer cars, and wasn't built primarily for track racing.

Like I say, I'm certainly no expert. It's just my perception.

I wouldn't say the R35 is the fastest car on the game, its certainly the easiest to handle.

In regards to the F40, it is an excellent car with a superb power to weight ratio and in a straight line would probably edge the R35 (Seems it in the game anyway) but its a 19 year old car don't forget. cars have come on in leaps and bounds since and the F430/R35 are quite significantly faster around a track dispite their heavier weight and similar power.

True to an extent. But alot (not all) of modern 'supercars' are quite watered down really.

Take the McLaren F1 or the Jag XJ220, mega fast cars. And really quite old.

The Mclaren F1 is kinda one of its own though, with well over 600bhp and weighing around the same as the F40 its certainly a step above any of the cars mentioned in this thread so far, kinda a 'Hypercar' ie Enzo and Konigsegg so it would certainly hold its own.

The XJ220 would get anniolated around a track by the F430/R35/F40, its just far too heavy!

* Appears the XJ220 isn't as heavy as I thought, still its only around 390hp/ton :)

To me, the F40 seems much slower (or the gtr much faster) than it should be. These are from wiki articles:

Ferrari F40:
  • 469 @ 7000 rpm, 1100 kg - 426 hp/tonne
  • 0-60 mph: 3.2 sec
  • 0-100 mph: 7.6 sec

Nissan GT-R
  • 473 @ 6400 rpm, 1740 kg - 271 hp/tonne
  • 0-60 mph: 3.3-3.8 sec
  • 0-100 mph: 13.9 sec

that's wrong the GT-R does 100mph in 8.9sec

it does 0-100-0 in 13.9sec....you read EVO yeh?

For everyones info the Ferrari F430 will beat a Ferrari F40 on pretty much every track in a race. The F40 was immense for it's time but like so many 20 year old cars it just doesn't cut it when compared to the new stuff. I have no doubts at all that a stock GT-R will beat a stock F40 in a race. There is no reason to think the F40 would win.

I'm willing to bet that the McLaren F1 and Jaguar XJ220 would both get beaten by current cars wityh similar power and even current cars with similar 0-60's and 0-100's. Cornering speeds are so much higher in current cars.

Such a stupid mistake.. I was wondering very hard why the time was almost double, and it seemed WAY excessive... Well thanks for solving that mystery :p.. And I don't read evo, but that guy who did that wiki article does apparently

Yea I suppose its all down to the diff' these days.

Here's a couple laptimes from Nordschleife (the actual one):

6:11.13 Porsche 956
7:27.82 Pagani Zonda F
7:34 Koenigsegg CCR
7:38.54* Nissan GT-R
7:40 Bugatti Veyron 16/4
7:42 Ford GT
7:42.9 Chevrolet Corvette C6 Z06
7:55 Ferrari F430
7:59 Nissan Skyline GT-R R33

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordschleife_fastest_lap_times

Unfortunately no F40, but I found these for Suzuka:
Nissan GT-R: 2:22.8
Ferrari F40: 2:25.26
Nissan Skyline GTR R34: 2:36.26

Nissan have spent a lot of time effort and money to make sure that the GTR is the fastest most affordable car around. Don't mistake its performance in GT5P as some sort of Nissan favouritism. Everything I've read about it has described it as a truly awesome car.

Now all I have to do is formulate some sort of plan to get myself £60,000 *sigh*
