Bit of a strange one for me..
Firstly the time issue (Seriously, I don't mind since I still got to race, but if I'd gone to make dinner and came back at 8pm GMT for the room to open, I'd have missed the race, that's not cool, whether it's for me or someone else - guessing it was just a mixup of timezones but the point remains!) meant qualifying was my first actual laps in the car, totally stock setup, so I knew my 3 laps resulting in P6 or P7 starting spot could be well improved upon.
Got up to P4 in the first lap and thought it should be no problem actually to hold on to the pace and look for a decent result. Then coming through 130R, Litchi had a big spin and through the tyre smoke there was zero visibility, hit him hard. Full engine damage = Pitting on Lap 1 to repair. Except now I'm going down the pitlane, I see the damage repairing itself... I now see the "Hosts, set damage to light" post made by Masi earlier in this thread, but couldn't it have been put in the Pre-Season Race Info too? Don't really have time to follow every post in the topic, and expected that Pre-Season Race Info to be pretty concise!
So from there I'm pretty hot headed to be fair, and put in lap after lap of qualifying laps determined to salvage something and at least see what sort of pace the car had in it, maybe learn something. Despite having to work through traffic I'm keeping the gap of 34 seconds (more or less a pit stop) to the leader, lap after lap, so that was good. Ended up finishing 5th after doing a pit stop more than virtually everyone in the field, but it was at least good practice for pushing hard lap after lap and being consistent about it.
Well done to GTP_Nissen - great pace and very consistent. GT300 looks to be better than ever 👍
