GT's evolution - do you like KY's vision as it comes in to focus?

As of yet I am still waiting to see any "focus" in GT5 development or direction. To me it still feels like they spent 6 years doing "something" to keep the funding coming in until they were eventually told to put it in a box and sell it or the funding stops.

I actually like the direction the game is going. Always been impressed with the Gran Turismo franchise and it hasn't stopped with this game. It's really the only game I play at this time.

If Kaz's vision is perfection, then I can't wait to see it.

If GT6 was a free roam game I would be happy. But what location would they create to Kaz's standards, while not making the PS3 explode?
Maybe it'd be Japan.

Here's the deal with that. Lets say an A-spec race has a Typical Opponent list where the max HP is 500. You've got to tune your car down anywhere to 400-450Hp. The AI stinks when it comes to cornering so you'll beat the AI and gain time in the corners and lose time in the straightaways because you're so overpowered by the competition.

Have you ever played Race Driver Grid by codemasters? Hot and heavy racing from the start, with outstanding damage modeling. Kaz needs to steal their AI and damage Physics then GT6 will be the Bomb!

Ah yes, GRID. I loved that game. Have it still, just haven't played in a while. That was a great game.

I wish the developers like PD and Turn10 would learn from other games like GRID and Shift. It's as if they don't even check out their competition and make the game thinking they know whats best. When in turn the developers of games like Shift and GRID are aspiring to be more like GT and Forza.

"do you like KY's vision as it comes in to focus?"

NOPE. I really, really start to hate it.
The lack of proper racing hurts my mind

I enjoy his vision, and the persistence of who he is, but I blame a goodm 80% of it not on Kazunori or PD, but on Sony. Sony knew it was going to be a big seller, and we wanted it bad. So they prompted the games release before "finishing" it. And so far, there are a lot of complaints about the game. But if Sony wasn't there, PD would've spent 2 more years and come out with a more advanced copy.

Remember, Sony is the giant corporal system always behind what Polyphony Digital does.

Not at this moment... Kaz & PD lost part of my respect with GT5 :ouch:... this was supposed to be the ultimate racing game... but what they gave us it's not even close to our expectations... 👎

I partially disagree. Though I'm right there with you in the "Sony is an evil corporate system that rushed GT5's release and kept pressing PD just for the sake of money".

But, and it's a big BUT, there's no excuse for 6 years of development and this amount of content. There just isn't. Games like Forza and Shift take one or two years in development and they're not four years behind GT5. If anything, they're ahead of it in some respects and way behind in some others.

Don't come to me with the "a premium car takes bla bla months to model". Though being possibly true and noticeable (it's undeniable, GT's car models are the best and most accurate nuff said. Though their competition isn't that far behind, GT still has some lovely touches) it's not something that excuses such a long development process, you know...not only PD modellers do a good job, there are other people out there who can live up to the task. If it takes 6 months for 1 person to model 1 car, why not hiring 600 people to model 1 car so that in 6 months they model all the car list, and then in 3 or 4 months you group all the data and run it trough QA?

I understand the time taken with all the physics engine and the graphics engine and all that, and I appreciate it, but surely it shouldn't take as much as a third of my entire life.

Seriously PD, manage your time. The game in my hands is in no way a job worth 6 years and us$60 million. It just isn't. Specially when you go around the globe talking about perfection and obsession and mimesis and all that crab that can only be seen in the physics and photomode.

GT4 was amazing, but it appears its going downhill from GT5

It's a terrible disappointment to me.

I have owned and played every GT (apart from the PSP version) and I've wanted only one thing since GT1; better AI

I hate the XP reward system. Winning the race, prize money and prize cars would be enough if the AI were challenging.

I hate the random economics - can't sell some cars etc...

I hate the laughable damage modelling / system.

I love the physics, am happy enough with the graphics.

re: Grid.
Yes it does have good damage modelling, the racing is definitely tense and fun. The sponsorship & decal idea was genius.

However I dislike the career progression element (and of all the games stable mates) and menus. Also I don't think it's wheel implementation is very good. Saying all that it is more fun to play than GT5 (and I don't use flashback, just accept the loss if I wipe out the car - that's a large part of the challenge and the excitement completely lacking from GT5).

I only come back to the GT forum to see if any updates have arrived to entice me back to the game.

This series was the only reason I bought a PS1, PS2 and my PS3 but if GT6 is anything like GT5 (gameplay wise) I won't be buying it, or any necessary hardware.
