This is a guess the car thread, you must give one clue and a photograph of a small feature of the car you are teasing. It can be as obvious or as vague as you like. The first person to answer correctly provides the next question.

Made in 1987 by an American company, this car is one of the most aerodynamic cars ever made! The engine of the car was producing about 850 horsepower, and the first implementation of the car had a long tail version too.
 
Production of this Volkswagen-based sports/kit car ended in 1991. It's famous for having an intricate entrance mechanism which was manually operated to begin with, but power operation was added as an option.
 
Would that of been an VW Eagle SS, there was a beetle based one and also a Ford Cortina based version.
 
Similar shape and similar mechanicals, but it's a different car I'm afraid.
