The front looks like a 1998 Toyota Chaser, must be Japanese.
 
It is indeed from the Land of the Sunrise. Though it is no Chaser or Impreza.

Yes, you are right, it was the 600 Abarth, the Berlina Corsa. SVX was really close though ;).
