Kit cars and replicas are allowed, however if the car in the blurred photo is a replica of a another car then the name of the replica or the original model name would be accepted as correct answers.

Rule 8 of this thread doesn't mention clones of other cars, but I will say they fall under this category. When the clone is that similar to the original smart ForTwo, I believe the round should have been given to GranTurismo916 ;)

Welp, I feel like an idiot.

GranTurismo916 wins.

I'm gonna go hide now.

There's absolutely no reason to feel stupid :)
I'm sorry if my post came out a bit harsh, that was not the intention.

The rules don't explicitly say that, in case of car clones, you must give the answer to the person who guessed the car the clone is based on. So, it's really interpreting the rules, since there are definite overlaps between replicas and clones. However, in my opinion, it is simply going to be a bit too difficult/tedious if you have to dig up the exact name out of 1000 different smart clones with no real visual differences.

I think clones should also be mentioned in rule 8, but it's a huge grey area. Some cars are exact copies, and the car above is a good example. In that case, I think either the original car or the clone's name would be accepted as the correct answer.

But other clones combine the body shell of a well-known car, but with different light treatments, often justifying it as a distinct model altogether. I'm particularly thinking of the Shuanghuan CEO (BMW X5/Toyota Prado mix), and depending on the angle, the CEO could or could not be mistaken for an X5. In case of cars like this, I think the poster of the picture should be allowed to demand the name of the Chinese model.

It varies according to each clone, and how much of the orignal car's design was ripped off.
But what do you guys think?

Anyway, I suggest clones are at least mentioned in rule 8.

I would say that a "clone" should be in rule 8, but I could as easily refer to it as a replica of a car. I would say that these (mostly) Chinese "clones" or "copies" should or, at least could, be referred to a "replica". But I'm not 100% sure, maybe replica is a just a car that you build yourself, I'm not sure with these car-terms. Someone more educated, or experienced person could give the right explanation and solution :D
EDIT: Wiesmann gt mf5?

Wiesmann is right. :D

Would've said Wiessmann MF5 but sWeirdot said it first. So... Wiessmann MF3?

EDIT: Tree'd! :ouch:

I agree. Way back, buried deep in this thread, I posted a Triumph Acclaim and I believe I gave the win to someone who'd guessed a Honda Ballade as in the blurred image they would have looked identical. There's a bit of grey area between a 'clone' and a 're-badge' as well so I think the person posting the car needs to use a bit of common sense and bare that in mind. :)
