It's a reference to the car's name.

The manufacturer at the time was independent, but it's now part of a larger group.

Yep, it's an IKCO Samand.

 
Oh, the Iranians never disappoint. Outdated platform, inefficient engines and a cheap, bland exterior.
So overall, better than GM :p

I on the other hand would have to say Japanese car from the '70s.

Although, the layout of the rear lights does seem familiar.
