Well I was hoping someone would as least make a guess before I started giving out clues. Obviously not Star Wars, but the game is based off of a novel and film.

Sega Rally, Daytona, Virtua Fighter and... others which I can't mention because it would give the game away - literally! Couldn't go wrong with games like that.

Mid 80's Amstrad CPC game, and also came out on the Amiga, so I own it twice.

It came with the program, a board and player cards, and worked kind of like Monopoly for Football. You bought and sold the players, the computer would decide the results, and would give you, or take away, random amounts of money when you landed on "Managers luck" and would give you player issues on "selection problems." At the start of season 2, the game would usually give you the "Car Crash" selection problem which caused you to lose your 2 best players... Much hilarity would then ensue amongst the other players...

Also, loading the selection problems and manager's luck files into a WP program gave you the ability to edit what happened. Again, much hilarity ensued as we thought up more amusing things to happen.
