That's a Republic prototype... Ummmm, P-something. It was being designed as a replacement for the P-47 but the war ended and jets were coming along before it made production.
 
It's a Republic prototype indeed, it was to be the replacement of the Thunderbolt but unfortunately P-something isn't enough. ;)

But 👍 for you, you knew the plane, just not the designation.
 
OK, I had to resort to a little Google action, but it's a Republic XP-72. 3450 hp and a top speed of almost 500 mph! Not bad for a big old piston-engine ship.

Since I had to Google it, if somebody else wants to post one up, feel free.

Incidentally, I have sat in that particular airplane. My dad has flown it, too. I lived in the town at the top of the image for about 13 years.

No, not a Stearman, but close.

Looks like a Waco or a TravelAire, but I'm not sure of the model, if one of those is correct. That's cool that you've been in it!
 
Negatory, not a Stearman (good guess, though. I've seen both planes side-by-side and they do look similar). There was the above pictured Waco and a Stearman based out of the airport there. I've flown in the Stearman, but it was quite a while ago (probably 7 years ago out of my 17 I've been breathin)

Duke, I can confirm that it's a Waco... I'll leave the model up to you.

If I'm right, this is a Russian STOL cargo plane, the engines' position allowing for much more powerful airflow over the flaps to increase lift.

Sadly I can't remember the designation.

Sorry to say, but it IS really STOL... I Googled the information so there go my chances to enter the answer.
 
Is it an Antonov An-74, I think? I don't know about whether it's STOL, though.

Sorry to gate-crash/butt in, but take a look at this picture... what are the planes involved and could they really be a couple of miles apart?! I don't think so myself, but obviously they weren't as close as they appear in this picture...

It looks like the blue-bellied one is just going to ram the tail of the red-tailed plane, if it is not like that, then it's one hell of an optical illusion.
 
The DHL pilots would have to be blind if they were as close as it looks.

Ok heres a clue, it is a British Aircraft (disregard the airline).
 
That's sounding pretty good to me. I thought it was British at first - the dihedral on the tail is a hint - but I couldn't come up with it. I'm betting VR33 is right.
