I have a good memory, it's just so damn short. Always keep forgetting to do these ones. Anyway, a new one!

Republic XF-12 Rainbow. Later known as the XR-12 Rainbow under new 1947 designations that saw P for pursuit change to F for fighter , and from F for photo to R for reconnaissance. One of aviation history's biggest flops (it came too late for WWII service and never made it as an airliner), but also one of the most beautiful.

It didn't last too long. :P But indeed, a very good looking aircraft and even one that was good at what it was made to do but at the wrong place at the wrong time...

I always thought the stab could have been prettier - a little more DeHavilland-like. I'm sorry I missed seeing that post - I'd have gotten one for once. Nice work!

The throttle quadrants look quite like the one in the Fw 190 but this one obviously has two engines. The rudder pedals also support it being German, that "heel lip" isn't much used in other countries' aircraft. Two seats, at the same level, with the second guy having something resembling a radar set in front of him... I'll have to think of it.

Here ya go..

Loved how the way it could change directions like nothing.

We're going with Ju-87 Stuka (which is really just short for the German word for "dive bomber"). This one looks to be a B variant or later with the little finlets at the end of the stab.

*CFS3-flashback* Do not try any aerobatics or air combat with it.. you'll just end up on the ground in a ball of fire.
