speedy_samurai: I think you're thinking of Continuo Renacer, maybe. But no, that's not it. The only thing you got right is that they're from Europe.

And yes, they're pretty familiar. They were around between 1994 and 2005. During their time they were one of the most succesful rock bands of their country.

Nope
The band is less metal-ish than Nightwish, actually it's alternative metal. They're from Germany. The drummer does back-up vocals. Their first album made it to #5 in the German chart, second and third were #1. They also won a MTV Video Music Award in 2001.

Their first album, Proud Like a God (1997) made it to #5 in Germany, while their second and third albums Don't Give me Names and Walking on a Thin Line respectively, each reached #1.

Their most famous songs include a hard version of Big in Japan, Lords of the Boards, Kumba Yo! and Pretty in Scarlet.

So sad to see this band dissolve I was.
