I'd do it, daan, but it might be a bit expensive for a joke - with the whole plane ticket and all.

Think the wife would be up for a trip?

...Just don't tell her what it's for, okay?

Also, I'd shout back "What, n00b?" and you'd feel bad.

Okay, new update.

For the first week I'm working every day.

Weekdays from 6pm-10pm
Saturday and Sunday 9am-6pm :ouch:

:O Full 9 hour shifts on weekends huh?

Be prepared for "peak hours" between 10am-3pm. It's always packed everytime I go there around that time.

Ciao!

Yeah, Sundays are the worst day too, apparently.

*Cough* Hijack *cough*

Thought I'd use this wonderful thread of employment to say I'm working in Tesco Extra. Just done my second week.

Oh and the best bit? My awesomely anti-social hours. 6-10 Friday, 4-10 Saturday. :grumpy:

So not only are you now earning money, you're less likely to spend it because the nights you'd usually go out and spend, you're working. Brilliant!

Still, congratulations on the new job.

Pfft... 10 hours a week? That's how much I work in a typical day . I don't mind; those overtime hours add up quickly :D.

Congrats on the job, though. There's no better money than that which you earn yourself :)👍.

Since this thread is about employment...

I went into 3 consecutive interviews at Wal Mart for the electronics department. I scored "above average" on 8 out of 10 categories. They really liked me. But they didn't guarantee the job. Why? Because of my goddamned hours. I can only work on weekends, since I'm in school weekdays. They said that they got enough people working on weekends and that I'll be a "backup" if somebody calls in sick.

What a way to break someone's expectations. At this rate I'll never get a job because of my schedule.

Don't worry. You'll have plenty of time to work after you're all done with school.

Thanks guys 👍

The Friday hours are on top of my College hours. I leave the house 8:45 for college, get home 17:15, leave house 17:45 work 18:00 till 22:00. Sleep.
👎

And yep I'll enjoy the money, I just hope I get a long term contract after Xmas.

Does this mean free danishes and meatballs? :dopey:

I start working at a local restaurant next year.

Congratulations, ExigeExcel. 👍 I agree with you on the hours though. They are kind of.......... :grumpy:

That is so weird. I bet if you apply at more places, it's the other way around. As far as I'm aware, most retail places wants people who can work the weekends. Ask Exige. :D

My first job was in the restaurant. Gave me a complex, looking at all the people having fun, eating food, while you are in your work clothes, taking orders from everybody. I was still in high school though, so I was kind of green.

Yeah, but it's only one day a week. Any day where you have to go to school for that long, and then work, is going to suck no matter what. But such is life. You'll survive.

I'm bored, 'Lee the Bee' has done an update and so shall I.

It's going well. I'm working with a girl I know from comp and we have a good laugh. Boss'/team leaders all seem great, even the ones further up the pecking order.

As on of the Team leaders is on trial elsewhere in the store they've offered me 12 weeks after Xmas, with the possibility of permanent if he chooses to stay at his new position.

Hopefully my hours will change, I think they're looking to have me do a different week day to Friday. Woo, return of the social life*!

*Not that I've missed anything as all my mates are working anyway.

Update- I'm also now working a second job in a body shop (the car type).

:)

I'd love to actually get a cool job like that where I might actually learn something practical. :(

Anyway, still working in Tesco, but my standard shift is now 2-8 on a Saturday. Woo social life. I also get, a rather nice, £6.50 an hour (with time and a half on Sunday, £9.75 and hour!). Oh and shares and discount.
