I see what you're saying, but both the X1/9 and 914 are very affordable. The Lotus is a bit more out of reach but I chose it because it is generally considered ugly.

I don't like anything about every day commuter cars and I'm not going to pretend to.

Oh, I think someone's in denial. ;3

C'mooooooonnnnnnn....There's gotta be some piece of crap you like. Even a '76 Chevy pickemup or sommat.

one of the most successful rally cars ever

Its image is so unappealing, its performance isn't anything special considering the other German offerings of its time, but for some reason unbeknown to many, this car's got an unmistakable aura. I always love seeing clean ones, even though design-wise, they're downright putrid. Maybe it is their embodiment of the Saab versatility ethos? Who knows...

so are volve 360's,your point?

Volvos don't break down after 10 minutes of hard driving. :D they're also pretty immune to corrosion, nuclear warfare, have reasonable consumption for their age, and are generally simple to work on.

Dont remember volve 360's being very successful in motorsport do you?:)

Actually, they're pretty popular in F-Cup, everymans class ( which was featured in last seasons Top Gear Episode) and rallycross.. well, atleast here.

And what does successful have to do with guilty pleasure? Nothing, hence, let's get back on topic, shall we?

Nah I doubt you're guilty for liking that. It's a great car methinks.
One more vote from me although it probably isn't much of a surprise. I'm willing to bet that's the overall best FWD Volvo ever made.

Have you driven one? If not, hold your judgement until you have. :nervous: If yes, then this is getting frightening.

And about the Skoda being one of the most successful rally cars ever... I'd like to know what was the criteria on that one. Outside "most Eastern Bloc races without Western cars won" there aren't too many.

Man, I'm really trying here. The first thing that popped into my head is the Volvo P1800. Too classic.

Ok, ok... here's one. The Lada Riva! I do like the various Commie cars that were built in and around the Eastern bloc from the 60's to the late 80's.

And various Volgas from the late 80's/early 90's. Delightfully trashy. I'd roll one.

See, I knew I had it in me.

Well I got some weird guilty pleasures when it comes to cars. Here are a few.

1959 Cadillac Superior Hearse.
Something so beautiful yet hauntingly creepy about hearse's I love so much. Especially a 1959 Cadillac.

Mercedes W124 500E.
Always loved W124's and the 500E's are just awesome.

2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protegé
My parent's first car was a plane jane 1999 Mazda Protegé but man did I love it. The Mazdaspeed version gave it the grunt it sorely needed (Still needed more IMO) and made it one of the best handling FWD cars ever.

1994-1996 Chevrolet Caprice 9C1
Always wanted one of these over my Ford Police Interceptor. Something about an Impala SS in Police drab was something I've always wanted. The Corvette sourced LT-1 was an added plus as well. It was also called the best police car ever by many police agencies. Infact some police departments loved them so much that they still have fleets of these as their main police vehicles. One day, I'll have one of these cars in
the driveway sitting beside my P71 Police Interceptor. I'll take one in any colour as long as it's black.

Any gen Miata
Something about a very light RWD roadster is something I've wanted to experience. The tossable feeling and very neutral handling you get with these cars are what truly make these things oversized go-karts! My love for the spec miata series probably has something to do with it as well.

Any classic European roadster
The old man in me and the miata nut in me has also desired to own a classic European roadster. Sure they're horribly unreliable cars, but that's the thing with these cars, you spend half the time driving them and half the time working on them. That's what makes them special. You gotta give them a lot of care and attention.
Triumph TR-6

Triumph Spitfire.

Porsche 914

Austin Healey 3000 MK2

Triumph GT6
Same reason as above except in coupé form!

Porsche 944
I almost bought one of these before I found my Interceptor. Sure they weren't the fastest Porsche (could be fixed with the Turbo model) but they had some sort of aura around them to me. I loved the styling and loved the way they drove. Sure they were the poor man's Porsche but I could care less!

Mitsubishi Starion
Another awesome 80's coupé that I really like. It's just a damn shame they are so hard to find these days.

2nd Gen Ford Probe
Something about these car's always stuck out to me. I always loved the way they looked. It's just a damn shame that it's really hard to find a clean Probe around. Seems like almost all of them have fallen into the hands of ricers. Probably why I've noticed a lot of hate on these car's for some reason, but I'd like to own one with a KLZE swap. Would make a nice decently quick front driver.

SVT Mustang Cobra "Terminator"
I will own one of these one day. The sound of a screaming supercharger makes me feel like a giddy schoolgirl inside. The modestly rated 390hp was nothing to laugh at as you blew by C5 corvettes with ease.

Ford P71 Police Interceptor
Probably one of my very first guilty pleasures. Something about it's menacing looks and toughness was something I liked. Sure the 4.6l V8 they stuck in it wasn't the fastest, but it got the job done, plus they sounded pretty good! Could take one hell of a beating as well. It could run all day with no problems thanks to it's heavy duty oil and transmission coolers and it could jump curbs with ease with it's severe duty suspension! Wasn't the fastest off the line but when they get going they get going. Watching the movie Blues Brothers was what got me wanting an ex cop car in the first place and the P71 Police Interceptor was first thing that came to my mind. So far it's been a blast owning my very first guilty pleasure. :)

*Claps wildly*

When I was little, my grandad used to have a Triumph GT6 in red, just like that car ND4SPD. I thought it was a really fun little car to have a ride in. Shame it broke down so often, really. Wouldn't call it a guilty pleasure.

As for mine...

Fiat_126.jpg

Yes. I do like the Fiat 126!

My first two have already been mentioned, the Lancia Y and Porsche 944.

Dodge Rampage/Plymouth Scamp
I don't know much about it, but for some reason I really like it.

Anything Edsel
Not the best looking cars in the world, but there's just something about them.
edsel_pacer_1958_2.jpg

60-62 Plymouth Scamp/61-62 Dodge Lancer

It could just be because my car was based off of the Valiant, but I really like the look of the early ones. If I had the money I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

64-66 Plymouth Valiant Wagon

I've always been a fan of wagons, but when I saw that there was a wagon version of my car I just fell in love with it. Be it a bit far fetched but if it is possible I want one of these to be my family car.

I don't have a specific car as my guilty pleasure, but two styles of modification:

Donks:

There's just something about them that I love. They are like the yin to the lowrider's yang.

and VIP Style cars:

I just love the stance. Dished wheels and laying frame with bags. They are like classy lowriders, started by the Japanese mafia.

Do I win?

You can't have a VIP expose without a Nissan President.

RE: The Mercury Milan, from Page 2

Hey, if you're in the market, they're cheap to buy used. You can pick up early models for right around $10K, but the problem is, it isn't likely to have a stick. That seems to be something super-rare.

smart-car-1.jpg

The Smart. It's utterly pointless, costs too much, gets the same mileage as a fit, doesn't look as good as said fit, isn't practical, doesn't have a manual option, and probably can roll head over heels down the road faster than it drives, . But the best part: Drop a Hayabusa motorcycle engine in it, and you've got a car that runs 13's all day long.

Yet I completely dig it :D

I got to admit that I love the two blue chevy's and the . In fact I got those pictures on my computer.:D Donks and Lowrider are in complete opposition that's for sure but I prefer Donks.
