lol. Good man, really good. We just got a two hour video back from our show at Rockin The Rivers. It was just a rough draft, as soon as we get the final, I'll upload some videos for sure!!! Having a blast, got another gig tonight - plus have been playing at church every Sunday morning which is totally casual as well. The bass' are doing just fine. Since I got my hard case for the Warwick fretless, it's been seeing more and more shows as of late, I'm glad about that and it feels good.

Other than that, things are lookin good.

You?

Sods about that man, I was pissed when I wrote that! I get friedly to everyone when I'm pissed. Though it's good that you're still enjoying it all and the bands still going strong. Would be nice if you could upload some vids 👍 .

Well I don't know if I mentioned it above, but my band recently auditioned for a big local gig. When've only had a couple of practices and out of 25 bands auditionning, they were only accepting 6. And we managed to get through as well!!! So we've got this big gig in a couple of weeks, so we're really looking forward to it. Though we still need to sort out 2 more songs for it! Though it's looking cushdy. We're gonna get interviewed by a local youth magazine for it and get a page on us! Anywayz I'm off.

I just bought an Ibanez rg 760
Its about 800us new, mine is used.
The sound is very good for distortion but clean sound isnt that good.
Ill show some pic ( its not mine but its the same) Ill try to post some pic of mine soon

Peace

Pat that is georgeous!
Very, very nice, especially in black. What's your set-up (amp etc.).

Ooohhh pop quiz ya all...has any played both bullet end strings and normal strings. If so have they ever noticed a diffeance in quality. I used some bullet ends recently, and thought they just sounded better, be it they are designed to work with Strat's.

I only use D'Addario XL-120s or Ernie Ball Super Slinkys with my guitars, except for the Dan Electro baritone guitar. I also don't cut the ball ends off the D'Addarios when I use them with a Floyd style tremolo. I run the ball end through the bridge, too. I get a much longer string life that way, and with my aggressive playing style, I need every bit of extra strength.

I like to use dead strings, I keep them on the guitar for as long as possible, replacing them only when they break. How do those bullet strings sound when they get a little worn? I might try a set for my Strat.

Pat, I like your guitar. I always liked the 760, but I prefer the 540. A black or blue 760 still sounds like a good purchase, but I have too many guitars already. Plus, I don't play as much as I used to, since I'm no longer in a band and since becoming a dad. I'm lucky if I get 3 hours a week of playing time. :(

Congrats on the becomming a farther Solid. What you want to do is make sure you teach your kid the guitar. That way you can combine your parenting with your playing ;) .
What guitars do you have?
Personally I prefered the bullets, but they didn't (IMO) last as long and snapped not so long after playing them. I thought they gave a nicer tone. Though like you I play very aggresivly, I managed to snap 3 strings in one go the other day after only having them on for 2 months. I then put a new set on and managed to snap the D the day after wards :( .

I prefer Fender strings to any others I've played.
They're already "warm" sounding when they go on the guitar. Then, I play almost exclusively acoustic. I have an old Tiesco electric, but the only time I can get from my son is when it needs new strings or it's terribly out of tune.

Sorry, I didn't mean to confuse you there, but I've been a father for 7 years now. I have two boys. The youngest will be three very soon.

My band split up about five years ago. I never tried to join a new band; I hate setting up and tearing down all the time. I usually had to play gigs wiht my "****" gear, because you never want to take your good stuff to a gig here in LA.

This is a list of my guitars.

1. Early 60's Gibson SG(stolen)
2. Early 80's Gibson Explorer(stolen)
3. Kramer Barreta Custom
4. Mid 80's Ibanez 540 Custom
5. Standard American Fender Stratocaster
6. Early 90's Les Paul Classic(traded)
7. Early 90's Music Man Eddie Van Halen
8. Dan Electro Baritone
9. Peavy Wolfgang Custom Deluxe

I need to send the EBMM-EVH back to EB to get the frets replaced. This is my favorite guitar. It sounds soo fat, and ballsy, I just adore it. The Wolfgang might go, though. I just don't play it enough. It sounds thinner and more "honk" than the EBMM-EVH, so I don't like it as much. But, it still sounds incredidble, though.

Both my boys love the guitar, and guitar music, but they don't really want to learn. Well, not just yet, anyway. I don't want to push it on them. They do ask why I don't play as much as I used to. I don't know why I don't. I can still tear it up, though. I played for and hour yesterday, and it felt good. My oldest boy said to me, "Man, that was tight! You should be on the radio!" lol. My boys are the only fans I need. :)

In the immortal words of Smokey Robinson. "I second that emotion."
The other thing I think is cool is when the guitar playing kids at church say, "Man, you are solid on rhythm, we need to jam sometime so I can cop some technique off you."
Or
"Man, show me how you did that!!!??"
Best positive strokes in the world.

Wow! You have guitarist playing at your church? Cool! 👍

I gotta start going back to church!

"And now, playing Bringing In The Sheaves on his Marshall halfstack, here is brother Solid. (Starts playing a pinched harmonic ditty)

Actually, we have up to 4 guitars on the stage some Sundays.
I think that fully 1/3 of the males in church play some guitar.
there are only about 7 of us on the "Praise and Worship" team.
We have a guy on bass, me on acoustic banging out the rhythm, and two guys on electric trading leads. They are both awesome.

My best stuff only comes out on slow songs where I can fingerpick. The fast stuff is for wearing out Fender #347 thin picks.

Though you have a staggering collection there solid. Could you get some pics, they'd be nice to see your boys (and I'm not talking about your biological lads *which is quite obvious, unless I'm some kinda peodo, which I'm not :odd: :p *). anywayz moving on....
If any of you have some recordings of yourselves playing, try and post them up, theyd be great to hear. Also I did a random quick jam that I wanted to post up for teh hel of it, and it's 1.4 mb big. I can't put it up anywhere. Can I make it smaller?

Sorry, I'm not on a PC right now. My old PC, a pentII with a 7GB hard drive, blew up. I'm like the anti Christ of PCs, they tend to fail when I use them. When I get my new PC, which I hope is soon, I'll maybe post some images, and some audio clips, but it might be a while before I figure out how to do that. I'm not very computer savvy.

Well, I finally did the gig. 400 people turned up and thats not even including all the people behind the scenes  . We kicked off our set with I'd say about 300 people in the pit. But this year the organisers had said that last years pit was too violent :odd:, so they had bouncers down there. We'd had the biggest crowd up to then. I kicked off with the intro, and then got into fll swing and the whole crowd started jumping. But then we noticed about 6 bouncers walked down and started pulling people out of the pit and chucking them out. Te other people remaining seeing this then either buggerd off, or just stood there    :irked: . By the third song came on Police walked in, because there had been some trouble out side, and by the end of the set we had likeonly 70 people left    !!!!! We were so fuming. And the same happened to the rest of the bands after us, apart from the head liners, because the main bouncer responsible for all of this had to sort something out, outside. So all the bands have thrown up their arms in protest, and we're gonna make this bouncers life hell!! He teaches younger years. And concidering he actually twisted one of my freinds arm back really hard to get him out of the pit and managed to disclacate his arm, we're gonna take this to the head:mad: :D . Anyway my rant for the day.
But the people who did stay and watch said that we kicked absolute booty apparantly!:D
Anywayz here's a pic...I'm on the far left using a wah peddle, during Rage Against The Machine's, Guerilla Radio. Joe's in the middle, he didn''t have anything to do at that particular bit, and robs on the end rapping. An that's Johns base sitcking in the pic. Hopefully we're gonna get some more decent pics soon :) .

Weeman,

That is truly spectacular! Sounds like your first experience was one you will never forget! (Nice shoes¡K) ƒº So when¡¦s the next gig? Where¡¦s some more pictures? Where¡¦s my sound file? ;)

~Cheers

Cheers man :D :O !
We've been asked to a slightly smaller gig in a pub not to far in the distant future. But we're unsure if we can do (problems with the signer and if he's working on the night) . And another one just down the road from me, which always gets a turn out of about 200 or so people.
Well several people took pictures of that gig, and we're expecting tones off of the signers and basist mate who took tones of our band and another band inparticularly. Also they're making a DVD of the gig as well, so will hopefully ge that.
Did you get my PM Pako?
If not, I've got some sound recordings, but i can't upload them anywhhere, because they're all over a MB big? Or if not could I e-mail them to you?

Cool pic! 👍 I like the baggy pants on the lead singer!

Sounded like your first night at a real club was a little crazy. Mine was completely embarrassing.

I was in my second band. It was a punk band called Mama's Vomits, cool name, huh? lol We played at this dirty punk rock place called The Green Door. There was about 20 people there, including our band and the employes. We sucked. But we were drunk, and I was having fun, until... I did a flying scissors kick from on top of the bass drum and got my left shoelace caught in the tuning pegs of my guitar. I never tried that again.

Cheers man.
Well as long as you had a laugh and at least it wasn't infront of a huge sober audience ;). Nice name for your band btw, but I suppose it's ok considering you guys were punk.
Yea our singer has a shocking dress sense and he doesn't actually like punk that much, but his hair and his mo-hawk just complete the band :D .
