My "Number One" is my 20+ year old Alvarez Model 5013 Acoustic.
I bought it the day I graduated from Nursing School, in 1996, with cash given to me by my dad. The first time I saw it, I thought I was Martin. The first "G chord" I played, pretty much cinched the deal.
It's black with a fade to grey (like a sunburst). White binding on neck, headstock and body. I replaced the stock tuners with a set of gold Pings. My bridge pins are polished brass, and make the old girl really loud so I can play with Light Gauge strings. I also had a pair of Strap-Loks added so I can't drop it when I play in front of people.
The guitar I let the kids play is a mid-60's two pick-up Teisco Del Ray electric. It's shaped like an anemic Gibson 335. It's a Red sunburst, with a "roller-style" whammy. (I took the bar off to cut down on broken high E strings.

I used to play it more, but it doesn't stay in tune worth a darn, and with both pick-ups on you either get a really sweet tone or a really crappy tone. It depends on how you tilt your head.

The one I wish I'd kept was a mid-50's Kay acoustic Archtop.
It was sunburst, with 'F-holes', a neck like a baseball bat, and with the right strings and the floating bridge in just the right place a very sweet tone. It would have been a great guitar to learn a bit of slide on. I sold it because I had no room for it and I wasn't playing it much at all.
There is also a four-string plectrum style banjo in my closet that used to belong to my wife's grandfather who played professionally. I keep telling myself that I'm gonna learn to play it. But I just don't think I'd look quite right playing a banjo.
